I grabbed the pop-up canopy from our river trip and I stuck it on the back of the SUV for a night of camping. Overall a very functional idea for tailgate tenting, but it will take some tweaks to make it a bit more airtight. Early spring camping doesn't get any better than this!

@@campingwithsteve Steve, this may sound both crazy, nuts, and completely made up, but has J. (aka beautiful wife) heard of a wrist band consisting of a coil or something that gives off a slight electric shock to stave off any nausea/dizziness? I SWEAR I thought it was a hammy 😁 funny joke 😂 that Maky (her channel is Maky and Matt) had planned in the video for some comedy from (March 16th 2022).

Ok I have to finally say this. Steve, don't discourage people not to donate and I really don't think you should get rid of the beer fund. Also, there's nothing wrong with being sponsored. You could be sponsored by companies that sell camping gear so you can test it out and let us know if it's worth it. Enjoy the money you're making on RUclips. Your subscribers love your content and are happy to donate to the beer fund. If you ever decided to be sponsored I would think that's great and I could find out what camping gear is worth buying. Anyway, you deserve the success you've had on RUclips and you deserve any money that comes your way for providing content we love to watch.

My kids had that instilled into them, we had a kid size rake and shovel set in the camping gear and they would have the job of tidying the site while we leveled the trailer or set up the tent. Found some cool stuff doing that, single burner for 2 lb propane tanks, citronella candles in nice metal pails, expensive tarps, tonka trucks and other toys, tools like hammers and axes, some nice marine rope with an anchor...Always leave behind you as good or better than you found it. We leaned into better, my husband also always left the fire pit laid and ready to light for the next camper.

breathe in deeply thru THE NOSE x 12 counting the ins and outs, focusing on the numbers, 1, 2, ... or say to yourself, In, Out, In Out, focusing on the words, i am asleep usually by 7 or 8

Glad to see one of these canopies setup and working well as a camping option. My then 12 year old daughter and I tried this type of camping solution a year or so back and they are NOT designed for high winds. Nothing like sleeping under the stars - literally. Let’s just say we have a good story now about our first camping adventure 😂

In a video, by someone else about you, I commented how I enjoyed your"fumbling and bumbling" referencing your bubble wrap video. I did not mean to offend. I think you are the greatest. It is just fun sometimes to see your failures as well as your successes. You are truly a man of the people and I think you are just so fun to watch doing your "regular guy" camping videos. One of my favorites was when you went hiking with Forest... he is like so hardcore, and it was hilarious to see you faced with him hiking next to a cliff on ice and snow. Those are the moments I was talking about. Much love to ya, from San Francisco!

I have been hanging or finishing drywall for many years. I usually have large quantities of board delivered. Five or ten days a year I end up having to stock things myself for various reasons. Those days will invariably be the windiest days of the years on flat Iowa farm plains. Often with a healthy dose of snow or rain tossed in as well. Try to carry an eight foot panel in anything but a mild breeze. Don't even think about the twelve footers!

I’m super impressed with your ability to set up that canopy by yourself. I have to every time my husband and I go to the beach, he requires forearm crutches which sink in the sand and it’s a whole thing. Thankfully there are usually people around that see me going from corner to corner to corn to corner to…and they offer to help! I’m going to hop over to Amazon and look for those panels, that’s what we need!

In 2018 I bought a Ford Transit (my sedan was kept parked on the street) and up until 2020 I was living in it while working full-time. Every weekend I would travel the state and sleep in the forrest. Good experience. I even met a girl who was happy to join me every weekend. I had a full size bed at the back, a table and a kitchen stove, same as the one shown in this video. Nice chapter in my life. Sadly, back to my office-home-office style of life.

Steve, remember how successful your video was where you had a suit on carrying a suitcase, walking by some houses? Then at just the right time you ran into the woods and did a stealth camp. Do the same again except this time include crazy neighbor also with a suit on and carrying a suitcase. If you can pull thus off it will be one of your top 3 viewed videos for the year.

Where I live, we have days in the 100F plus temperature range in September. By the third week in March, I am planting my vegetable garden. Just the opposite of your seasons.
BTW, now that you have a new SUV, and you drive on a lot of less than optimum roadways, you might want to look at a clear protective shield for the nose of that new ride. They go by names like "clear bra" and "clear shield," and will keep all those stones from ruining your paint.

Steve, just wanted to thank you for your videos. I found your channel during the start of the pandemic back in 2020 while I was living in NYC and being able to get truly outdoors (no car) was difficult. Long story short your camping escapades kept me sane being stuck in the city and sparked a fire in me (along with Foresty Forest) to get out and thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail this year, starting in 3 weeks. Looking forward to a nice backlog of stealth camping adventures (doesn't have to be every week your personal life comes first!) when I get back to civilization, especially as I will be having plenty of my own.

I use to camp very similar to this with a 99 Subaru Outback I had, when I was in a band and would play festivals and needed a place to camp. I would open up the back hatch, and the back area of the vehicle was about the size of a twin mattress I would sleep in. I would build a little tarp/tent off my hatch, use my roof rack as tie-down spots, set up some basic camping gear in there, and it was fantastic!

My daughter and I did a trip across the entire US shore of Lake Erie during the first pandemic summer camping out in the back of a Jeep Compass something like that... We put the back seat down to give ourselves a full bed, and I ran clothesline around the ceiling in the back and hung up cheap flannel blankets from Wally World with clothespins to make temporary curtains around it. Then we'd just set up the screenhouse shade with our cooler, folding table, chairs, and fire pit right outside the back hatch wherever we stopped for the night. It was a wonderful trip!
