CHEAPEST Oil Change on a 2017 Audi A4 B9 // Quick & Simple Oil Change DIY Guide

  • Hey guys, in this video we are doing our first #oilchange on the 2017 #Audi A4. This DIY will go through the process step by step, extracting the oil instead of draining. We found this procedure to be much easier and cleaner than lifting the car and draining from underneath. The Audi dealer will typically change $95 for the oil change, where as we spent only $30 excluding tools. Total price with the tools turned out to be around $70 which is still better then the #stealership. Hope you find this video useful, please share like and subscribe.

    That rubber piece you pulled off the smaller hose is the fitting you use to join the hoses. You might have not gotten all of the oil because of a poor pipe to pipe seal. Did mine this weekend and got 5 L plus. Also it is a good idea to pump again after removing the filter. That oil leaks back down to the pan.

    A little trick I’ve learned from doing my oil change in my A4 is when your putting the suction tube down the dip stick tube your going to meet some resistance and it hits a little level if you push down a little more with not to much pressure you’ll pass that lever and it’ll feel like a click and you be able to extract more from the oil pan

    I pushed a the tube too far into the sump, and burned off a 2” section of hose. Had to lift the engine to pull the pan. Was a ridiculous pain in the ass. Lesson learned, don’t push the tube any further to try and get all the oil out.

    To lengthen that extraction tube, you just plug the tube into the black rubber grommet you took off. This creates the seal needed as the oil can get sticky.

  • @Ivan-ju5cq
    @Ivan-ju5cq 3 года назад +4

    Pretty informative video! I didn’t knew that such pump existed.
    However, I do see a one slight problem.
    That electronic level shows you approx 1liter of oil between min and max marks and if you go past that “max” it won’t tell you that, unlike the regular metal stick that is actually supposed to go in that socket you’ve used to drain the oil.
    With this in mind and the fact that there’s definitely some oil left at the bottom of the engine it seems like chances of over-filing it are pretty high.... basically you don’t know all the variables to do the math.
    To protect yourself from overfill I would probably add ~3 liters at first and then incrementally add small portions of around 150-200ml, while checking level each time (no need to start a car for that)

    Hi why does the Audi use oil wile in traffic?

  • @brandon918
    @brandon918 4 года назад +10

    The reason you only got 4 quarts extracted is because extracting oil like that is not a great way of performing an oil change. You are leaving a fair amount of old oil still inside the drain pan. It is reccomended to properly drain all of the oil out to ensure all the old oil is out. And your car is not burning oil. Its a brand new A4. Regardless of stop and go traffic...

    Note to whoever follows this procedure, you cannot use a hose this large, otherwise you will wind up with exactly this problem of not getting all of the oil. His hose is hitting the top of the hole on the windage tray that the dipstick passes through. Only way to get past that is to use the smallest hose in the kit, and it usually takes about 10 minutes longer to get the oil out using the small hose. You will however get 5.2 liters of oil out without a problem.

    the rubber hose that was on the ground was all cover in debris and stones that you just introduced to the engine. I do not know why people do not drain the oil. That is why there is an oil drain plug ... Also your car is parked at a slight degree on the drive way. The incline won't help with oil extraction...

    5k miles is too quick, you are throwing away oil in good condition. As an european guy and as far as my car knowledge goes you change oil between 13-17k km. In your car settings you have most earlier reminder 10k miles for a reason! And if u want quality oil go for Mobile1 or Motul oil... When you pour oil in you have to dirve the car or at least run the engine. Your oil lever would definitely dropped a bit!

    Should be cautious using the edge European in the B9 EA888 my 2019 calls for VW 504 00 5w30. Putting a 40 weight oil in an engine designed for 30 could be a mistake. Audi recommends the Castrol Edge Professional LL03 which meets that spec. Don’t mess up your engine over $30 or $40 / oil change.
