    I have a lot of difficulty with things like cleaning and tidying, due to depression and the fact that I'm partially blind. I have no family and no one to help me outside of one person who visits me sometimes. I always apologise whenever people come to visit me and I've had people outright tell me that my home is disgusting because the main issue I have is washing dishes.
    But watching your videos, seeing you help people just like me with no judgement, no strings and telling their stories, it makes me feel like I'm not a failure for things getting out of hand, that it's okay that things do and I need to be able to forgive myself for it.
    Since I started watching your videos, I've been able to take things one step at a time with cleaning, and it's made a huge daunting task a bit easier to do. The way I've been handling it is by thinking one step at a time. If I enter a room, like my office or living room, I need to do one thing to keep it clean. Is there some rubbish on the floor? That's okay, just pick it up and put it in the bin. Are there some dishes left to clean? That's alright, you can clean those quickly before you grab your meds. It's been a life saver.
    Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, your compassion and your generosity. You change people's lives for the better, including mine.

      @bionicmaleficent Год назад +2

      I agree completely!! I was disabled in a car wreck 12 years ago & even with surgeries to help "fix" some problems, there's still mobility & pain issues.
      It definitely makes it harder to do tasks that most find simple to do. But when you can barely walk, much less get out of a chair or from a sitting position, it's hard to do the simplest tasks!!
      Over time, my mobility has decreased in many ways & when you walk with a cane or have to use a walker, it makes some things more difficult to do, as most things you need both hands, but one is usually occupied holding your body up!!
      I love that she helps so many with mental issues, but I hate that many with physical & mental don't always reach out. I think having the combination is a much harder ordeal to overcome. The mental can be repaired in many situations, as my therapy has helped many of my trauma issues, depression, anxiety & PTSD. Although they are not gone, they're much better than they were & better than the physical issues. The physical issues are much harder to fix. 🥺

    After watching your videos I have come to realize that there are many people who wind up alone when they get older and aren't able to take care of themselves. Many people don't have family or friends nearby so they have nowhere to turn when life hits them hard. This gave me an idea that I can't believe no one has thought of before. Nowadays there are apps for everything so why can't there be an app specifically designed to match people together who would be compatible roommates. I'm thinking of a "Golden Girls" type of situation where aging people who are alone can pool their resources and help one another. For example, a neat freak who can't afford groceries, a person who is financially stable but can't walk and a homeowner who loves to cook but can no longer keep their finances straight could live together and create a new kind of family. Of course they would have to agree to a background check get to know one another before moving in together for their own safety. I think that just knowing that an option like this exists would go a long way toward helping the elderly keep a positive attitude and avoid the depression that comes from watching everyone you know begin to pass away.

      To be fair, though, there are MANY others who also do excellent jobs of cleaning, but Auri has a YT channel that lets viewers SEE what she does. Not everyone wants to have a presence online, so we don't see the good things they do. And you're quite wrong that Auri's attention to detail is "unmatched;" I've watched a great many cleaning videos over this entire year, and some of the cleaners go far beyond even Auri in getting down to dirt that tries to hide itself in the tiniest places.
      You can't make such a broad statement as you did without hurting a whole lot of other people; just because you don't see what every one of them does doesn't mean there aren't other top notch cleaners doing good deeds for free, too.

    A little tip for those who feel they have trouble keeping the kitchen clean, and have plates etc piling up. Try to reduce your equipment like plates, forks, spoons etc, to an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. If you are one person, see how you get along with ONE of each. Eg: One cup, one fork/spoon/tea spoon/knife, one soup plate, one normal plate, one bowl, one pan, one pot. I can truly recommend this. If you got a cellar, you can store excess utensils there for example if you have guests come over, but then, when they are gone, you store them away again.
    To Aurikatariina I wanna say: Thank you for your work and your videos. I'm really amazing and in awe and hope that your videos help a lot of people. Funny enough, you actually helped me figure out how to best clean the old stove in my appartment that I moved into! You're never too old to learn something new haha!

    • @JulieK89
      @JulieK89 Год назад +1

      @@AlexxWretched I live with my boyfriend and we have mostly 2 of everything. Just two additional "sentimental" mugs, and for the cutlery we decided on the following: 4 normal breakfast-knifes, 4 forks, 2 spoons, 4 teaspoons. That is because of our personal preferences of food, so we know we can eat with this setup for a full day. Also, we have as a rule that we do not go to bed without the kitchen being clean. because coming to a clean kitchen in the morning is amazing ;) We arranged that in the evening we do the kitchen and we hover the apartment real quick (it has to be done here everyday because i have a skin condition and also because we live in a very small appartment and it collects dust etc REALLY fast). so in the evenings we share the "work", one hovers, one washes the dishes and afterwards we dry up together. We still have a drawer with the type of "additional utensils" like a bread-knife, a small teasieve, wooden spoon etc, but for my taste that's still too much stuff, so there is improvement possibility there. We continiously look at the cupboards and see what utensils we DIDN'T use at ALL for months. These type of items can go into the storage/cellar/etc.

    The poor woman needs a single/twin bed rather than a way-too-large double bed in that little space. It would then be easier to get in and out of it and be able to make and change the sheets too! Lovely job, Auri!

    Hi Auri, You can save the fluid in the bottom of the swiffer wet pad container, spray the wall with it and then swiffer wet it with the mop in no time. It cleans deeply and really fast. You can do a medium room in a few minutes. You can do ceilings, too. No more hand scrubbing walls and ceilings.

    I would love if you filmed people's reactions seeing their home all clean at the end, it can be so uplifting to see people happy and surprised. Though of course I understand if some want to keep their privacy

      Not having them in the videos helps with the anonymity, like you said, but also it makes the videos to be all about the cleaning and understanding the situation of each individual. Filming them would make it about them and how they react. And you know maybe some of them would be "underwhelming" for camera or too "anxious" to open up. I think it would make things a lot more complicated. Of course I would also like to see their reaction. But when I really think about it I always end up saying it's better this way :)

    Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do.🙏🏼💗 Although my house doesn't look like that, MY MIND AND MY SOUL, I think it looks just like that. I always felt overwhelmed to get in there and start cleaning. I had the feeling that I would rather burn it and rebuild. I realized it is something that I have to do no matter how painful it is.
    You do things with so much patience that is 100% from God. Otherwise I can't imagine how you could have so much energy and you do it for free. 🙏🏼💗💗💗

    I worked as a barista for a number of years. Yeah, coffee grounds are like sand when it builds up you can add it to the soil in your garden to help plants grow. I hope Natalie's relatives are willing to help her since she is a widow living alone with cancer and has mobility problems. Or if there is a volunteer group in Finland who can pay her visits. Here in the U.S. we have Meals on Wheels they bring them food and companionship, or the libraries can have volunteers bring her books since she must like to read.

    Should you ever come to Canada, my moms house would be GOLD for you. I love her but she is awful at keeping house and only gets worse as she ages. Yes I help, but I can't keep up.
    We often joke about how much you'd love her place.
