I just bought a set of HDO's, and I'm not impressed at all. Either I have a bad set or people have been on the hype train with them. I have two pairs of Dominator V3's, and a pair of Aomway Commander V1's, and I prefer any of those over these HDO's. I am aware that the HDO's are 4x3, compared to the Dom V3's and Commander V1's 16x9, but my problem lies in the blurry picture, and dim displays of the HDO's. All of my other goggles seem to have brighter, and more crisp displays, no matter what I do when it comes to goggle or camera settings. Maybe I have a bad set, but for the price, I can't justify it.
I enjoyed the video. The Fatshark Scout DVR view looked the best of the analog goggles. Also, the breakup seemed no different than the HDO or Skyzone. In addition, you can wear your glasses with the Scout. As a relative beginner, I am starting with the Scout until I can afford the dji system.
Watched entire dvr recordings... Scout made an exceptional job! Even Skyzone 03O has some glitches... But Scout is flawless...not even one glitch... Is it may be you placed scout in a better position? Different antennas? Better antennas? Cant belive scout is this good...

Great review as always but recently bought the DJI FPV Goggles...had to go digital! 😎😎😎 Now, I'm just looking for a good BNF (Bind and Fly) drone so I'm not spending a ton of time building. MegaBee Hd maybe......hopefully we see some more DJI FPV BNF systems coming out.
Are you far sighted? I had that problem on my FSs. I eventually went to the $Store and bought a pair of cheap reading classes, hacked them with a dremmel so they will slide into the slots for corrective lenses on the goggles. I believe there's a DIY here on YT or RCG. Anyone over 40 puts my goggles on and they're blown away at the clarity lol. Us old guys are used to seeing everything slightly out of focus lol.
This was super helpful. I'm just getting into the hobby and really confused about whether to go all-in on HDO2s or SCO3s but then saw the Scout, which will be about $250 out the door with batteries and antennas. Maybe I'll go that route until I decide for sure the hobby is for me and then I'll go all-in with a DJI system ($800 for goggles and 2 camera systems).
From a purely budget perspective I think the two box goggles that are also worth mentioning are the FXT Vipers at around the sub £200 mark and the Hawkeye Pilot at less than £100, the later having just undergone a redesign. Ok the Hawkeye doesn’t have a DVR but for the price you could buy a separate one and still be quits in. I think either one would be an ideal starter set and then when you upgrade, would make a good spectator set or screen as the screens are detachable on both units. Nice review though, loved that DJI footage, your friend is lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
I had a feeling that the skyzone 03o goggles would be the winner out of the analogue goggles, they have everything that people need. Of course I also knew that the DJI goggles with that beautiful digital image was going to be the overall winner as well
Drone Camps RC , yeah fat shark may have good service if there’s a problem, but they aren’t willing to listen to people otherwise. It’s all about the profits.
Luv the tiny whoops, dji just too heavy. Maybe in the future. Until then, ordered the sky zone O4X’s. If I need the digi, shark bite fits the O4x and it’s much lighter than a vista stack, even stripped.
Ta Justin great review . Since I started the range and quality of the goggles has improved , now with Digital FPV it seems to be on the right track . Lets hope that this is incentive enough to make some of the other google manufactures to compete . I mainly fly 3 inch kwad's , so I hope it can be made much smaller and lighter to fit in smaller Kwad's ..
All this goggles are so expensive for analog technology.. I hope developers move quickly and make some more digital options other than the existing 1000.00 systems..
ElNrtNBoy --- I agree! It seems silly to me to spend nearly half of what a digital system would cost on ‘old tech’. I have a feeling a lot of people would want to get digital as soon as it comes down in price for the rest of us mere mortals.
I was about to get some fat sharks but there was the Father’s Day sale @DJI, to good to pass it up. Plus the air units and vista price was lowered too. I haven’t used any of my 3 analog quads since. Probably won’t unless I get the analog adapter but that’s another $60, + $? for a Rx. The only reason I’d probably want that is for a whhop for indoors but I still have the old box goggles. Also got the IFlight a85hd it’s fun but the Nebula sucks btw lol.
The DJI set is nuts. I can't believe how little breakup you got behind that berm and tree-line when you went down. Those You seemed to be below the ground level slightly at the lowest point. I've never seen that clear of a link outside of 1.3 and maybe 2.4. That's incredible performance. Have you flown behind a row of evergreens with them before at that distance out? You like you're about 500M out or so? Would you consider doing a video of the DJI digitals on a race-wing? The organic farm would be a beautiful location with all the stands of trees out by themselves against the rolling hills. Great review man. Any plans for Byte Frost?
Thanks Bauhaus. Yeah I will do some more reviews with DJI on wings. No word from Fatshark on the Byte Frost. Seems I'm not one of their "cool" guys. I'm def not buying one at $400 to be a beta tester. Haha. I'm not so sure Byte Frost will beast DJI. Esp since they don't have onboard DVR. That sucks.
@@dronecamps You've prob seen Mark Cocquio's review of them. I think Fatshark is going after a very specific DIY old school market. Their performance is def not as good as the DJI offering but if they keep their modules priced low, they may be able to compete in a niche market. Off topic, but I know you're a 1.3 guy, tested the output of the old FS 250mW 1.3 module, it was outputting at ~450mW. I was kindof astounded. Tested all my typical RMRC 1.3 vTXs, they were way off, by 100mW or more in nearly all cases.

The video looks like the Scouts have the best video/frame rate in 720p60. I’m glad you said that the RUclips vid isn’t representative of what you’re actually seeing when flying. At this point the dvr quality doesn’t mean much to me, what I’m interested in if what it looks like when flying. I’m so sick of s****y picture quality yet digital is unattainable for most ordinary humans at this point.
Skyzone make the best goggles right now. You won't be disappointed with the 03O's, plus they are future proofed with the module attachment and HDMI in for digital, like Byte Frost and future systems.
Nice. I was thinking about getting some ‘2 screen’ goggles (after having Kylins, headplays, Walkera single screen goggles)but I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on something, then want digital in a year or so.
I'm getting into FPV and was strongly contemplating the HDOs (maybe the DJI FPV unit in future). The skyzone looks like good competition to the HDO. What do u reckon?
No more tiny whoop flying with digital. Ill stick with my hdo2s. there will be updates for digital compatibility in the near future for our hdo goggle soon.
Great Video, 1st timer I'm trying to figure out what I should go with, I've been flying fixed wing for 20 years, Heli for 2 years, now I would like to get into racing drones, to get my feet wet I'm looking at tiny shark 2 kit and a bunch of batteries and lots of practicing indoors/outdoors at home. That will keep me working on my abilities for the next 6 months then look at what is on the market . If you feel I should go another direction please comment. rlarson3232 I was just reading the comments and saw this. Do you mean the tiny hawk 2 kit?If so I think that’s a great all in one starter kit. Or even for an experienced pilot. That or a DYS elf although you’d have to get goggles with that. I would NOT recommend a brushed quadcopter due to the motors not lasting all that long(if you’re taking about the fat shark quad). I have probably spent 5x or more money trying to figure out what I wanted for a quadcopter and fpv set up. Then again there wasn’t really a kit like the tiny hawk or the DYS elf on the market when I got into it.
Hello, Thank you for a fantastic review! I'm new to goggles and I need one just to avoid a glare on my phone's screen so that I can see the image clearly. I have a MV Air 2 and I wonder if Scout can connect to the controller.
Sorry, I commented before I finished watching the vid. I NEED MORE INFO ON DIGITAL! I’ve been wanting to upgrade to some better goggles for a while now, but digital is so close I can taste it(financially compared to analog goggles anyway).
Hello, one question: these glasses (FatShark Scout 4 I, FatShark Recon,Fatshark Attitude V5 OLED ) can be used for these drones (Emax Tinyhawk, Eachine RedDevil V2)??
Digital is still way too expensive for my blood, since I'm still just getting into the hobby with the cheapo Emax Transporter goggles that came with the kit I got. I'm definitely considering the Scout, but if I'm in this hobby for the long haul I might as well save up and get the Sky03Os.
Thanks for the great review Justin.. Question..... I realize the DJI system is digital, however can it be used with analogs? Or would i have to change my goggles every time I fly something with the DJI system in it?
IMO. Don't waste your money on any of those unless you are 100% sold on bytefrost. To get the most out of BF tho, you probably need to look more at the HDO and ORCAs. If you are spending that kind of money, you should at the very least consider DJI. The more and more i fly digital (DJI in my care) the less and less i care about Rapid Fire or any analog. You owe it to yourself to consider the digital offerings. At least give Byte frost a shot. I can't see myself going back to analog outside of flying micros.
IMO analog video is not going anywhere. It’s cheaper to the masses. Until digital gets cheaper every kid on the block will still fly analog. I do love digital. I prefer it. But Orcas nah. Not everyone wants to spend as much as DJI and Orca.
It used to be the Headplay, but I'm not sure now. I've not checked this new crop against them, but my first thought is the Headplay might still have better specs. There was a ripoff of the headplay on Banggood for some time, maybe $150 less? Not sure. I'm sure there prob a shootout vid here on YT.
Which ones would be the best option for an entry-level long range use, Skyzone 030 or Fatshark Scout? I don't care about the dvr or colours that much, I only care about the reliability!
im trying to save for my 1st goggle style pair, and see a vid like this with shit loads of pairs gets my goat up a little. youre channel is great but to not have any affordable lones ike the 02x which im saving for. also looks like a fae shark advert plus rhe pair you use.. sorry for the rant. just pee d off i still ose box type
Skyzones are probably the best choice in that price range, but be aware of the quality control. Received mine last week and I've found that one screen was completely dead. Now I'm struggling with the poor customer care of the well known chinese vendor. I wish you good luck if you are interested to buy these goggles...
Personally my 03O's are perfect. You should also contact Skyzone directly. They will likely send you a replacement part at no cost, but you'll have to install it yourself. Otherwise you can send them back to be repaired. That really sucks I know, but I have had a good experience with getting parts and support from Skyzone.
@@Sergeant898 I have already heard that Skyzone's assistence is not bad. Anyway I believe that a new pair of goggles with one screen completely dead is not a minor fault and for me it stands for an unexisting quality control. So to my eyes it seems that having a perfect item like yours is only a matter of luck. At the end we are talking about 400 Euro of goggles and not of the Eachine EV100. Anyway as soon as the vendor will accept to refund all my money (the customer care is only an euphemism...) I will roll the dice again, because I am still convinced that the 03O are the better goggles on the market in that price range... if you are lucky! ;-)
@@lorenzo7788 Unfortunately there is no chance you will get a full refund if you bought from China, unless you send them back. Getting replacement parts is the best option. However, I'd bet that your goggles components are not faulty, and that the display cable is not properly connected (or similar). If you have the skills, you should take the cover off and check the connections. I'm sure Skyzone would say the same. Look for Sky03O teardown video for instructions.
@@Sergeant898 In fact I want to send back the goggles in China, but the vendor is making his best to avoid my rights of customer. Fortunately now I'm in contact directly with Skyzone, that is trying to help me. I'm glad to know (as you have stated) that the Skyzone's customer care really deserves the name.
Please somebody can answer hahaha for a beginner scout is better option than atittude V ? Is better start with boxes and after go to binocular style? Or go straight to atittude ?
Can't wait till i can get a used pair of h.d. goggles!!! But think ill be flying analog for a while!!!! Thanks for this post i really like this hobby and good goggles makes it so much fun!!!!

I bought a ev 800dm in the preorder they are in my opinion the best spec wise for the features but it's the first batch so I'm sure the 2nd run all the software will be ironed out
Change the stock antenna with any 10$ omni you will be amazed. It is night and day. My recon v2 with foxeer lollipop v3 has better receiption than my scout.
New firmware available for the eachine ev300d at the official Facebook pages and groups. The fix only works in PAL and image quality is now 70% of what it used to be. Although eachine reports 43ms of latency and occasionally it might reach 86ms, ppl have been measuring 31ms or a little over that, and that's including the latency of the camera. Delay currently is the same or extremely close to my previous box goggles. In terms of image quality, using a runcam micro swift 2 (ccd camera) the difference is very little. You just notice that the image is not as sharp (you notice it around the edges), but the quality is still very good. I thought my box goggles had a big screen and a good image. Compared to the image that the new firmware provides, it's still miles away both in size, brightness and quality. So, don't worry. Even with a 70% image, this new firmware has good quality. You can put the noise reduction on high. The effect is subtle, but reduces color noise and improves overall image quality. Note: Not sure if noise reduction introduces any latency, but if it does, it's very minimal between off and high. This really needs some testing...

I have the recon v3 and like them. Are the fatshark scouts worth the upgrade ? Or should i go straight for rapid fire?
Which is best "fatshark recon v3", "topsky prime 2", "ev800d". I can not choose. There is no data comparing the three. I have little Presbyopia.
Fatshark hd3 core and attitude v5 , which will be more clear and good? Please help me brother
I was hoping you would have the Commander V1S at there new price be an option?
Thanks for the great review Justin.. Question..... I realize the DJI system is digital, however can it be used with analogs? Or would i have to change my goggles every time I fly something with the DJI system in it?
They now make a AV converter for 5.8gjz modules to add to
Your DJI goggles. Best of both worlds. One set of goggles.
Where is Skyzone O2X? Which do you prefer... Attitude v5 or Sky O2x.....?
Hey out of curiosity, if someone really LOVED the immersion of box goggles, other than the digital DJI system what's top of the line in box goggles?
Solvend FPV damn your right
Fatshark Scout
It used to be the Headplay, but I'm not sure now. I've not checked this new crop against them, but my first thought is the Headplay might still have better specs. There was a ripoff of the headplay on Banggood for some time, maybe $150 less? Not sure. I'm sure there prob a shootout vid here on YT.
Which ones would be the best option for an entry-level long range use, Skyzone 030 or Fatshark Scout?
I don't care about the dvr or colours that much, I only care about the reliability!
Ok, it looks like the Skyzone 030 is the winner!
Hey what about skyzone02C u didnt mention that
What was your transmitting power? Wondering how good any of the goggles would be at 25mW??
Are there googles that are better for fixed wing aircraft? I’m trying to pick between the sky one 3 or Aomway v1s...
Beautiful chemtrails over the organic farm!
im trying to save for my 1st goggle style pair, and see a vid like this with shit loads of pairs gets my goat up a little. youre channel is great but to not have any affordable lones ike the 02x which im saving for. also looks like a fae shark advert plus rhe pair you use.. sorry for the rant. just pee d off i still ose box type
could you do a side by side comparison of skyzones ocx to o2o goggles?
@@lorenzo7788 Good to hear. I hope the problem is resolved quickly and you have working goggles soon. You will be happy with them, they are fantastic!
Thanks Justin!
why does the Scout look better than the HDO??
Please, how is it with latency comparing analog and digital, I mean "the best" analog system vs. DJI system?
Libor Vitek digitql has way more latency
DJI has variable latency depends on the strength of the signal. So if you are flying on the open space with a 700 mW signal, latency is very low.
Looking forward to the vid, if anyone wants to donate their old Goggles when they upgrade to one of these I would be grateful lol😂
Please somebody can answer hahaha for a beginner scout is better option than atittude V ? Is better start with boxes and after go to binocular style? Or go straight to atittude ?
Im a newbie, are these dji goggles gonna work for any tiny whoop drone? Or do I have to also get the dji camera system?
Most of the whoops use 5.8ghz
@@dronecamps Is that yes or no?
You need either a DJI or CADDX system on your drone to be able to use DJI goggles
Ev 200d Eachine it's very good 👌
yes ev200 good image, good reception, good price
Can't wait till i can get a used pair of h.d. goggles!!! But think ill be flying analog for a while!!!! Thanks for this post i really like this hobby and good goggles makes it so much fun!!!!
Has anyone tried the Quanum Cyclops with Diversity DVR or the FXT Vipers?????? I ask because I need goggles where I can wear my glasses and wanted to know what people thought??????? There is no comparison out there on FPV Goggles for people with glasses. PLEASE HELP. Thank you.
The fatshark scout is for glasswiewer too and better resolution and pretty smoller 🎥👍
How about Eachine EV 800D?
I bought a ev 800dm in the preorder they are in my opinion the best spec wise for the features but it's the first batch so I'm sure the 2nd run all the software will be ironed out
What camera is on that drone?
Can someone please help can goggles work on my fpv drone
thank you
that scout has a fan
Anything decent for up to 150$? The Recon are not for me because if the breakups
Change the stock antenna with any 10$ omni you will be amazed. It is night and day. My recon v2 with foxeer lollipop v3 has better receiption than my scout.
Wait, DJI has the only digital fpv?
I thought digital is an available option for years. Is it really that new?
DJI isn’t the only one. But they are making the best option.
What drone setup do you have?
Is it still worth it to buy the sky03o? Thank you
I'm moving from fatshark predator v2. Thanks bro
Спасибо, мужик!
Dji needs competition to help drive price down.
Thank you.
Mt hood what part of Oregon are you from I'm in Portland 🤪
If I get a digital drone I have to get dji goggles? No other company makes digital goggles? That's a bit crap
Secondish?
Thank you!
Yw!
I think you forgot the Skyzone sky02x
Nope !
My dude I dont think amazon has 18650 anymore I think they stop selling those on their site.
No they’re still on there. Just pulled up a 4 and 6 pack.
@@dronecamps dang I've been looking for some but they only had the button top instead of the flat top ones.

What about ev200d
Dustin i bought the skyzones 02c and i'm having alot of breakup in the fpv image i already tried alot of antennas but still having breakup, with my EV800D is perfect clear and no breakup, can you help me ?
Try the Lollipop v3 and the Foxeer Echo patch antenna.
@@dronecamps I did try the foxer v3 and i'm having the same problem, i have to buy the echo patch. I'm very newbie in this maybe i'm puting in the wrong position ?
@@netofpv8030 Are you using the correct antenna connectors? SMA only for skyzone. I think EV800D has RP SMA. Using RP SMA on Skyzone will give terrible reception because it's basically like have no antenna attached at all.
I've been looking at the fxt viper goggles becuase I have glasses. Also it has true diversity unlike my goggles right now (echine goggles two) but does anyone know if the fxt viper goggles are a decent choice?
i love mine with glasses but looking for upgrade.
@@Mastertech6
They are nice, use them for one year, but there are some people suffering from degrading receivers including me. Also the DVR is very bad and doesn't record sound.
I would go with the Scout now, seem to have great reception and impressive DVR
@@waldemarkraus2855 can you define or link up to " degrading recievers"please, plus ill be upgrading to skyview next season, if glasses fit
@@Mastertech6
Search for the vipers thread on RCgroups. I've documented there what kind of receivers are build in and also how to resolder new ones.
Degrading means, that your reception gets worse over time.
I'm thinking now about changing mine to the scout. I love big FOV and the 60fps DVR is impressive.
Fat shark scout looks more sharpen and better quality
Fatshark scout is better less glitches
