- After cycling across the US in three months, we definitely welcomed a change of pace and culture in Mexico.
But we also needed to adapt a bit. Cycling down Baja, especially on Highway 3 & 5, through the mountains and along the east coast, supplies and phone reception were very limited and we needed to start carrying food & water for multiple days... something we hadn't yet experienced on our journey around the world.
But after getting the hang of it we ended up having a great time in Baja and really enjoyed the ease of wildcamping and desolate landscape!

Another great video ,im enjoying all of them ,i hope you guys still doing it.

Yes! "Us Time" Don't ever forget to DATE your partner; The world is full of hustle and bustle among many other unnecessary matters.
Very true! 😊
Awesome! One day I'll head to Baja California on my bicycle. Your living my dream!
Thanks! 😊
Wouldn't it be easier to carry a waterfilter instead of relying on places where you can buy or get lean water?
We have a water filter. The thing is on Baja the problem wasn’t finding clean water, it was finding any water, therefore we carried the water sack. We also have chlorine tablets which we put in water if we’re not 100% sure if it’s safe. The tablets kill most bacteria, etc. in the water.
They have to revive those brokken places and shops , restaurants etc. with refugees of latin America. The refugees make a good job there, but helaas is not so.😢
Why did you take the asphalt road with four panniers like elderly people do, when younger cyclists today are mainly using the Baja Divide route?
Our frames are pretty old (around 20 years) and therefore can’t fit very wide tires like modern bikes. As the Baja Divide is mostly sand, we didn’t feel like pushing half the time. Plus we can do whatever we want and not what other people do! 😉
@Chains & Chords The Baja Divide is not "mostly sand". Only about 4 days out of that multi-week route are on sandy surfaces, and there is an alternative route for those kilometers. But I understand that people get scared away from the route because of exaggerated descriptions of it (in reality, you don't need more than 2.15" tires, tubeless isn't necessary, and you can do it with racks and panniers).
@@crculver2068 You seem to be very concerned about us doing what is “expected” of us… you forget that we can do whatever we want! 😅 We had a great time riding Baja, exactly the way we did, and that’s all that matters…
@@louisaandtobi My last comment was really directed towards other people looking at this video. You might have cycled the asphalt road and had a great time, but other cyclists ought to be aware that the Baja Divide route isn't as challenging as you thought. And it is definitely a lot safer and more peaceful than riding on the paved highway with traffic.
You should start to eat a few Sardines and Cans of Tuna mixed with Rice.
Слава тебе Вожи ☦️ 🙏 Амин
Had to laugh about your comment of huge selection of bread and pastry in Mexico compared to US…you just didn’t get to the right places in US.
...maybe, but that still gives a fairly accurate description of the "average" bread you find in a country then. 😅
@@louisaandtobi but you compared the US to one place in Mexico…keep laughing
Why not just show the scenery. Description always falls short, even for poets
Just scenery gets boring pretty quick… at least in our opinion... and this is our storytelling style.
Are you starting to realize something about poverty and global hegemony? I assume you have some advanced education and a bit of privilege in your backgrounds. Can't be too naive
Not all privileged people grow up blind to the poverty of others. ;)
Hola luisa y Toby muy bonito su video de ensenada saludos chicos , soy Martha nos conocimos en pelotas Nayarit en casa de tío pepe
hola Marta, muchas gracias! fue muy agradable conocerte. 😊
Very isolated places.
I've thought about biking down Baja but I hesitate because of the stories I've heard of cartel activity. If I ever decide to consider it more seriously I'll do more research. It looks like you didn't have any trouble like that, which I'm glad to see.
We didn’t have any problems with that. For us, Baja felt like a mix between the US and Mexico. There is a lot of military and police around but we felt very safe.
Cartel activity is a non-issue. The Baja Divide has been a very popular route for several years now, and a lot of riders on it report that they felt safer there than anywhere in the US.
Ánimo, aquí los esperamos nuevamente, algún dia . Por lo pronto buen viaje y cuidense mucho
¡muchas gracias, José! 😊
