  • Even before arriving on the Mexican mainland we had been told numerous times, that the "real" Mexico begins there. And we sure realized this pretty quick, already during our first two days in Mazatlán. Not only is there a lot more "life" on the mainland, but more culture as well (compared to Baja)!
    After leaving the bigger city, we headed into the mountains and passed through many Pueblos (villages). Here we were always greeted with amazing hospitality and even invited to stay overnight by two families!

    This is a very good video, I live in the USA and we keep hearing about the problems with Mexico concerning drugs, but it was so good to see and hear about the good hospitality of the Mexican people to the cyclist touring their country. Viva Mexico!

      My friend married a Mexican lady and most of what you hear about Mexico in the U.S. is b.s., cost of living/food/medical care is cheaper and in dodgier areas, just mind your own business, be nigh invisible, and pass through as quickly as possible. Lastly, ask the locals/police about any potential issues. One moto adv vlogger even had to let one of the cartel 'hawks' know she was Just passing through and she got to the ferry to Baja California on the coast of Sinaloa State if i recall correctly, sans any incident.

    Great video. I've watched lots of people cycling our just travelling in Mexico and I think its so sad it gets such a bad reputation because of a tiny minority. Its seems the people generally are so warm and hospitable and generous. Definitely makes me want to go. Though I think its fair to say many travellers I watch tend to avoid the tourist hotspots and visit the real country.

      From what we've learned on our travels, many places unfortunately have a worse reputation than what we experienced ourselves. Which of course doesn't mean that you shouldn't always be mindful. And yea, especially away from the tourist hotspots is where we've always found people to be the nicest. :)

    I feel ignorant not knowing quite how beautiful Mexico is, I really had no idea. Recently discovered your adventures and I love your films, thank you so much. Uncluttered, honest, great music choices. As a solo bike-packer there is a lot to learn from your extensive experience, I am comfortable touring in Europe, should a 'sola' cyclist feel any different over long periods in central/south America, did you meet any along the way?

    Hi guys love your videos, I'm planning to do some bike touring in Australia, I'm a 65 year old ukulele player and I hope to record some of my travels on RUclips. just two questions. When are you coming to the land of Oz, and what music library do you use. Good luck with your travels.

      Hey, thank you! 😊 We might come to Australia around May-June next year but it’s not certain yet. Have to see what our financial situation looks like at that point.. 😅
      We use the “Epidemic Sound” library and are really happy with it.

    Another good one.
    I want to start making some videos and have a couple of questions for you as far as what hardware and equipment you are using.
    Are you using Apple products or are you using a PC?
    Obviously, you have a very upscale set up now, but what would you suggest as some good starting features and equipment for someone beginning to make videos?
    I plan to use my iPhone as the camera at least for now as I begin.
    What about headphones, microphone, etc. as well as anything I may not be considering.
    Any and all tips are appreciated.
    Thank you so much and have a spectacular day.

      Hey, we are using an MSI gaming laptop for editing (Windows) and have a Song RX100 VII Camera (which we can really recommend), two GoPros with MediaMods (for better audio) and have a DJI Mavic Mini drone.
      Generally, having lightweight gear is a great option, and then it just depends on what kind of shots you want, if you want to talk to the camera while riding, etc.

    Hope you can help me out here. In a week I am going to Cancun riding to the pacific and return over two months. I do not want to bring my big sleeping bag, but take a small 600 gram down bag. Will I need an extra bag for the mountains?

    • @louisaandtobi
      @louisaandtobi  Год назад

      With a 600 gram down bag you should probably be fine. Best thing you can do though is check the average temperatures for the time of year and region you will be traveling in and then decide based on that.

      Hey, it’s actually not Cane Creek, just a “no-name” brand from a local bike store in Austria. And Louisa has a different one again. We’re really happy with our seat posts. The parallelograms are definitely better than the standard telescopic ones though.

    Any way to turn down the electronic music, that's annoying. Seeing the world again at a slow pace is pleasant to watch, and I do enjoy your observations and reactions most of the time. Maybe some mellow jazz

    • @louisaandtobi
      @louisaandtobi  2 года назад +1

      No, still filming, we are just a bit behind with editing / uploading. It takes about 15-20+ hours to edit one film, so we always have to see when to squeeze that in. This includes sorting all the footage, sound design, uploading, etc. currently we are about 1-2 months behind in the videos.
