I would accept occasional rain if it meant only setting up at 9am. My market starts at 8, set up at about 6:30. I just don't sleep the night before.. *hugs* hope the burnout turns around soon! We see all your hard work and it's inspiring.

Hmm British weather and open air Markets.. You're both troopers, well done. Here in our little town of Orange NSW (Aust.) the markets have an arrangement with the local agricultural showground and move from an open Park to a massive shed when actual and/or forecast nastiness approaches (Rain, Freezing temps or Snow) . All the vendors and customer know the drill and it works brilliantly.

Hi ☺️! Lily hope you’re doing good. I just watched your video and I want to thank you for your effort and your realistic way of showing how is the journey of a baker. That some days are great and others are not that fine. But, the most important thing is you share us your optimism and hard work you put in everything you do. So, even the weather was a disadvantage that farmers market day you seem happy and continue working. That is passion and love for being a baker. Thanks 🍞☺️🫶🏻 a follower from México 🇲🇽💖

You are very lucky that your market allows open baked goods. Here in Michigan, USA, we have cottage laws that dictate that we must have all baked goods packaged and labeled with a ridiculous amount of information. First an ingredients list in descending order, allergens and finally a statement that reads "Made in a home kitchen not inspected by the Michigan Dept. of Health, (or something very similar) and finally, the name and home address of the baker. Yep, in this day of a world full of crazies, they want us to put our home address on every package.
In rain like that, I lower the back two legs of my canopy to make sure it drains to the back. Those day's suck.

And just one more thing of note, on a moonlight night. Everything you do, touch, and feel, is reactive. The dough, your family, your viewers, the earth under your feet, and so much more. Never underestimate the power of the love and being that you bake into every moment of every day. It's beyond tap & pay. It's about Love & Play 🪄✨🌝

Lily, I too am a baker. I have no sponsorship other than life. I studied all the traditional breads of all the different cultures of the world. I grind fresh grain, that contains life. I honor and respect each of those cultures, their traditions, and loaves. I make sure my heart, and intent are pure every time my hand touches a culture(some call them starters). You ARE a baker. It is an art. It can be a deep and loving tradition, life sustaining, replenishing. Or it can be an absolutely draining experience. That will leave you with nary a heartbeat left to share at the end of the day. The rich and cultured path, that will energize and enliven your culture within your micro/macrocosm of life, is the path within your heart. When you follow that path, your loaf will rise to undeniably unique status. It will become a pure, and cultured extension of your heart, soul, and very being. It will ring with your pure spirit. It will fill people's hearts and bellies with that spirit. The magic is not in the sponsorship, or advanced marketing strategies. When your heart and soul get caught up in the crosshairs of marketing, it gets over extended, and drained. I see all these new bakers, all stamping out the same loaf. Devoid of artistry. They call it "product." It's a means to make money. Period. That is not you. You are a baker. So I will plead with you to follow the path within. You won't be chasing down the newest app, marketing strategies, or a good night's sleep. Everything will come to you, through you. Drawing in the elements of the earth as you attentively stir and nurture your cultures IS magic. Don't doubt it. It is the harnessing of life itself, by your hand and heart. It is living art that nourishes the body and souls of all that consume it. Not product. And when fully achieved, the people will come to you in droves. The world is starved for spirit, and the spark of life. You have this. I assure you. It's all about baking yourself, your purity of being, your intent, and the heartbeat of your family, into every batch. That's what a baker born of tradition does. But more importantly, that's how a baker born of tradition lives. When your actions are purely sponsored by life, you live. It's that simple 🙏🏼🌟

What if you can inform your current customers of your leftover produce and offer them at a discounted cost either for pickup or delivery. Possibly recupe some of your cost on the lousy days.
