I'm so proud of my cousin. He looks so much like my dad. I miss you Mark, thanks for letting me get on the stage one time when I was 6. It was awesome.
That also explains why I’m just now really getting what this son is about because I was a child 😂😂😂 now that I’m 30 means something completely different 😬
He's still semi-active on Reverb Nation, a site used by musicians. He put out two albums, then became a contributing song writer for a few years. I can't dig up much else, but basically, he just uploads to Reverb Nation, then shares the URL's on Twitter from time to time. He also still tours with other bands here and there, and his last big show was CMA Fest 2018. He's still active, he just hasn't put out any albums since 2006 is all. Read the liner notes the next time you buy an album. You might find Mark McGuinn as a credited songwriter.
This is nostalgic to me. This used to be played on CMT all the time. I used to watch that channel religiously when I was a kid especially the top 20 countdown.
I haven't heard this in years!! I taped it on VHS 📼 I loved it!! 👍👍 I love the camera 📹 shots, it was different. I was a teen and in high school..It was on CMT back then 💘 🎤 🎶 🎶 😎
Still love this song! It's too bad he didn't get any more big hits after this. I personally love his unique look and sound. Although there's definitely a pop influence in this song, it's still more country and more meaningful than what's mostly been on the radio the last few years. He also looks a lot better than most of today's "country" singers who dress like they're either working on their car or going to the gym.
Heard this for the first time in MANY years at a karaoke event tonight, I don't even know why it's in my memories tbh, I see it was on CMT so that's probably why. But WHAT A BANGER!!! P.S. 34 going on 35 for those who had the same childhood LMAO
Thank you thank you I was looking everywhere for this song. It reminds me of my childhood when my dad would play the CD in his truck when I was little.
With a last name like McGuinn, one would think that this singer was the son of the Byrds' Roger McGuinn, for that group had a similar country vibe in its sound, and also the fact Mark was born in 1968.
I just stumbled across my copy of this album yesterday; I'd forgotten all about it and how amazing it was! I totally obsessed on it when I was a teenager!
Julie Porter the funny thing is he’s not that uncommon where he’s from. He’s from Greensboro the other side of Raleigh. Lots of people like this in western North Carolina.
I just found this after many years. I just can't understand lyrics and I was lucky enough to be able to find one hit in Google: I searched for Mr Stevie Rudy, and someone in Yahoo Answers had typed Rooney instead. Obviously neither of us were correct. So this song is fun!!
This song takes me back to when I was the "hopefully" Mrs. Rudy to someone when I was in a miserable marriage. I see this as someone seeing something beautiful in you, no matter what. Bought the CD when it came out and still play it now.
TheScarlett33 Mine was an ugly marriage also. 15 years celibate. He would not go to a doctor and admit the problem. I gave him my all and stayed by his side tho we had separate bedrooms. No visits to mine. No visits to his. With the fifth episode of physical abuse I had his sons come move him out. Well reading on the porch one day, a prince came along. LOL
I had a Mrs. Rudy across the street from me a few years ago. Damn I miss her. She was a flirt & then some, but her Mr.Ugly was someone who I didn't want to piss off. Such Good times.
I like this song & video b/c its not a cookie cut song...its diff and hes diff which I like..hes a good singer..and hes far away from working at McDonalds....
They could have done so much with this video to help this song sell, but he got ripped off...this video is about as bad a one as I've ever seen. It's a shame, it's a cute song.
Mountain Woman I bought it, wore it out & had to have it for long trips or the entire house inside & out, Loved this CD. Great song's- he is a great singer.
Almost sounds like " me and Mrs Jones" from the 70s 😂😂😂 The story of my own life almost.... I've been infatuated with the same co worker for over a decade now , knowing that her boyfriend is no good... Yet she refuses to get rid of him permanently
Why did the gal sell out? I hope she reconsiders, and finds loves. My gal friends from the day, just jumped the fence and found love and family, children to love. I can't judge, though it can be risky. She will find better fun, and do it.
I have gals that I know just like that. It is so sad, but they jump the fence, when they can. They are Czechs, and real beauties. A gentle hand will not assuage their souls, but their love will win through.
This could have been a huge hit, but I don't think country music fans at the time were accepting of his image or the abstract art type of video. Kind of sad.
I remember this song! I was young when I saw this GAC. I always thought he was wearing underwear on his head. I like this song, now that I hear it again after all these years, but I kind of blame it for country music today being like pop music.
I just met this dude today at my job. Coolest cat I’ve ever met. God bless him
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
This tastes like the early 00's
I'm so proud of my cousin. He looks so much like my dad. I miss you Mark, thanks for letting me get on the stage one time when I was 6. It was awesome.
Loathsome Luna way cool
Are you from NC too? I live just outside of Charlotte 😁
Awe that's cool 😎
Where is he now ?? I love him .. his style & talent ., & miss him too
@@joshandangiebryant3497he’s thinking about coming back, I’m friends with his son
I can't believe this song is 20 years old this year as it was released in 2001.
That also explains why I’m just now really getting what this son is about because I was a child 😂😂😂 now that I’m 30 means something completely different 😬
Shh, don't say that! That means we're getting older 😂
The country equivalent to “Stacie’s Mom0. And I think this is just as good. This was my jam the summer it came out. I was eight... lol
Still listening to this in 2020! Where is this guy?? I absolutely love him.

me too. lol funny story. i had a teacher named Mrs. ROONEY and her husband was named steven. i always thought he said rooney not rudy
Not everyone was able to watch CMT in fact some cable companies had GAC in place of CMT with no explanation as to why it was at one point.
@@KevinPiland we had both networks and I actually like GAC more than CMT because it was always about the music on that channel.
So nostalgic, but the dude is a hardcore stalker with no respect for social boundaries.
Late 90s early 2000s
Deserves wayyy more views
I remember when this song was on the top 10 when it first came out. And why wouldn't it be? Very good song and I sometimes catch myself humming it :)
This used to play at Target in the music section in 2002 when I worked there in college and oh god it was on repeat repeat repeat
I've always loved this quirky funky song. great job!
Me too Its adorable
Holy nostalgia

I always did like this song. I just rediscovered it.
This right around when country was at its peak ⛰️

I still love this song
This song is a BADASS.
My dads cousin,(also my cousin?), wrote this song. It's pretty cool to see people talking about it in 2020.
I love this song. I always thought it was funny because, oh yeah, she knows.
I love this song so much.
Always loved this song! The music video needed work. Such a fun and cute song to bring back all my nostalgic memories of early 2000s Country music.
OMG Still stuck in my head!!

Good song creepy video lol
I remember seeing this Video on TV when it first came out ..Great !!

This song drove me nuts when it came out
With a last name like McGuinn, one would think that this singer was the son of the Byrds' Roger McGuinn, for that group had a similar country vibe in its sound, and also the fact Mark was born in 1968.
Love this song!

First heard this song when I was 7 and I fell in love with it.

Vasthie DeHart 2018!!!
My wife never heard this song couple years back I showed her... it was forever that I heard this song.... to my surprise I remembered every lyric
I love that he doesn't look like your typical country singer more like a beatnik.
Julie Porter the funny thing is he’s not that uncommon where he’s from. He’s from Greensboro the other side of Raleigh. Lots of people like this in western North Carolina.
Hell, he doesn't even sound like a typical Country singer. I think that's part of what drew me to this song, that Mark didn't sound like the rest.
Gosh my brain really loves this song!
I like the song and the video.
Still love this so much!
Hello, how are you doing?
This was on the count down both CMT and GAC during the summer of 2000. He actually played professional soccer before he got into music.
Still the best
i grew up with my mom listening to this. love this song

Mrs. Rudy was in an abusive marriage, and Mark's portraying a man who wants to treat her right...he loves her
Still love this after all this time...just much simpler music

Thank you for posting this! Pity he was never accepted as a country artist. If he had I’d still be a country fan!
This video doesn’t make any sense but I’m here for it 🤣
Mrs Steven Rudy driving my boy wild with that thundercat up in her draws lord have mercy
OMG this is one my first favorite country style songs...it's been probably 22 years ago? 💗

I am all about this cutie!
Hello, how are you doing?
This song sounds a lot like starfish and coffee by prince
Odd looking guy, but I remember when this came out :) Back then, for me anyway, there were a lot of Mrs. Rudy's.
Love this! Is he still singing!
I like this song n i am a hiphop fan
I dedicate this to YOU D.
What I would give for the chance to show you just how long my love for you will last. As long as I live.
I think his style is more along the lines of Jason Maraz. Which isn't the kind of music and theme wannabe Nazis and womanizers want to associate with.
I agree the video could have been so much better, showing Mrs. Steven Rudy and other scenes.
❤️
Hello, how are you doing?
The Kangol Hat was big back then.
Holy crap I used to like this song and the video back in high school... What the hell was I thinking.
quanto tempo
Almost sounds like " me and Mrs Jones" from the 70s 😂😂😂
The story of my own life almost....
I've been infatuated with the same co worker for over a decade now , knowing that her boyfriend is no good... Yet she refuses to get rid of him permanently
Any one here listen the 99.5 The Wolf? Who remembers 'Tara's Booty?'
i love this song but i think this video was made with a broken tripod
And a $400,000 budget they went over on
2024 gang?
Absolutely.
I wonder if this is about my Aunt- who was indeed Mrs. Steven Rudy.
16 people took too many lemons(Wolf)
19 lemons
Love that guy
Ok
I was going to use it on my Facebook stories but it's not available...just the Kareoke version
Steven Rudy is HOT
I thought this song was very catchy back in the day.
I am coming for you
Grady sent me
Oh did he talk about this song? What video was it?
Why did the gal sell out? I hope she reconsiders, and finds loves. My gal friends from the day, just jumped the fence and found love and family, children to love. I can't judge, though it can be risky. She will find better fun, and do it.

Well, we have the story, I know his feelings, but I know that the gals will hope the fence for fun. Be there to catch them.
Not what I expected for the video
This could have been a huge hit, but I don't think country music fans at the time were accepting of his image or the abstract art type of video. Kind of sad.
