In the library, we saw and recommended Iain Sinclair's psychogeographical gem, "The Last London". To be honest, all his books are good, but this is especially good. You can get it, via our special link, for just £8.75 (RRP £9.99) from here: www.amazon.co.uk/Last-London-...
We also referred to a video interview with Billy Bragg, "The Streets I Ran", by a channel called Huck - find them at @Huckmagazineplus

The borough included most of Becontree from 1963. In 1994 it expanded to include virtually all of it. I think you have confused Becontree ward with Becontree Estate.

The current station was built in the late 1950s.

Ohh thank you. I got my info from the usually pretty reliable Singing Streets app which I have on my iPhone. It says it's there and even says it's now a Lloyds Bank. If you know where Guy Norris was, I'll drop them a line and get them to change it.

Here's the app I got it from. There's no web-based version as far as I know, I had to pay for it to put it on the iPhone. singingstreets.com/

@@LoveYourLondon Hmm. I've seen good evidence that it was at 13 Station Pde, which is now Lloyds Bank. It must have moved before my time.

@@colinnewman1962 Great, I don't have to send an email to Singing Streets. I'm glad as I rely on them a lot for my music landmarks, well worth the money I paid for the app. In the next episode we will be stopping outside Dame Vera Lynn's old home (24 Upney Lane) where her mum continued to live. I was unable to find though which house she lived in when she moved out with husband Harry Lewis in 1941, all I know is that it was in the same street. But I looked everywhere to find the right number and failed.
