Best Polaris 280 video I've found so far.
Excellent tutorial on the parts of the Polaris. The pool was my late husband's realm. He could fix anything. I told him (about the pool) that if anything "happens to you" that I would have to sell the house. Unfortunately, he did pass, and I am on summer three, on my own with the pool. I have had great trouble with correct settings among the Polaris, pool, waterfall, spa, and fountains features, but persistence is paying off. The final piece of the puzzle was the Polaris. After my son fumbled with it a bit and gave up, I found this video which was exactly what I needed in order to size the hose (no longer getting tangled), place the proper order of some devices (and know what they are and what they do), and actually figure out the proper way to connect each hose. One connection was leaking for years because the nut was backward. Now the Polaris is working as it should! Thank you so much!
Best video I have seen on Polaris sweeper. Please do more videos like this. Thanks.
Thanks, will do!
I spent a lot of money rebuilding my Polaris and fiddled and fiddled with it but it still got stuck on the stairs and did a poor job of cleaning. I gave up and bought a Pentair Racer. No more frustrating stuck cleaner and a beautiful clean pool. I couldn’t be happier.
Skill issue
I always say you can find a cleaner for every pool, but you won’t find a single cleaner that does well in every pool. My personal experience is the Racer is the most problematic and easiest to break cleaner out there. But we have some pools that it does great in with few problems. I’m glad you found the cleaner for your pool.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I adjusted the jet to 10 o’clock and adjusted the float on the sweeper.
Thank you
I kept waiting for the voice in the video to say "recalculating" and tell me to turn left at the next light. With such an entertaining introduction, I expected a personal instructor, so while it did fall flat when the computer started talking, it was still very, VERY informative and precise. I wish you could've included the blue and red restrictor inserts... They're so confusing to me.
Thank you for that. I will try to minimize computer voices in the future.
Thank you for the video and clear instruction. I'd love to see more. I adjusted my Thrust Jet to 10 O'clock . Sweeper leans toward the two wheels and is moving better. The hose continues to get tangled up. I may need to change the swivels too.
Hose can get a memory. Stretch out in the sun once in a while. That will remove the memory
Loves the video
The cleaner 'flow rate' is adjustable from the app and I have read that incorrect flow rate can cause issues such as cleaner running in circles (flow rate too high). Reccomennded flow rate should be mentioned in the video or in the summary.
I’ve never seen a variable speed booster pump. 28 years in the industry, and I go to many shows. 30-32 wheel revolutions per minute is proper. You are right, I should have discussed it. I’ll amend the summary. Thank you
thank you!!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe the dude just stuck his arm in the water without first pulling up his long sleeved puffy shirt..😂
I noticed that too, what a mad man
All your information was great, but the image of you showing the finished length is not what you said in your instructions. I am referring to the part of your video at 1:19. It does not show the hose cut correctly since you stated that the leader hose to the first swivel should be the depth of the pool and the first swivel should extend 18" past the longest distance needed. As you can see, the first swivel is not even out of the water as you stretch the completed hose.
I'm not sure what the confusion is. Maybe I could have phrased it differently? The entire length, the hose end, should extend 18" past the furthest point of the pool, not the first swivel. I showed the length it was originally, and then I showed the proper length after being cut.
One of my wheels is not aligned with the others, do they need replacing? They all spin together when i turn one. The polaris is moving around the pool so slowly. I am just trying to troubleshoot how to fix it or what pieces should be replaced. Thank you
What do you mean by aligned ?
Each wheel has a plastic flathead screw you can adjust (center front each wheel) to make them tighter to body. Theres two adjustment screws under the body. There’s a little play on the drive wheels. Take the top body off- just one screw (blue part) and the drive wheels have 2 screws you can loosen and pull them forward or backward to make better connection with the splined axle. The back wheel doesn’t do much (sand guard) there’s a middle wheel that’s only job is transferring momentum from drive wheels to back sand guard wheel. Make sure the small wheel isn’t too tight to the other two. Hope that helps
The wheel is probably loose
Most likely bearings..
Hose nuts are by far, the #1 issue that confounds otherwise intelligent people.
Easy mistake, as most people think it assembles as a conventional compression does.
I can't even begin to count how many times I've seen metal hose clamps used!
One of the most common things we see
While informative, why use a synthetic voice, which most people find very annoying?
Agreed.
I agree. I believe I will remake it. Thank you
