This might be a dumb question, but could you warm up the damper to expand it slightly larger than the shaft?

If it's a solid damper, most have a rubber or polyurethane layer

yes, you could warm it up to about 250 degrees with no issues.

Why not use a damper installer instead of beating on ur fresh build? They can be had for 50 bucks.

Great point. I try to show how to do it without extra tools, but I should demonstrate it at least once.

brand new balancer, brand new stroker crank, new crank bearings, all freshly machined... says the balancer is press fit, then hammers it on. This isn't the first big block mopar he's done this to. Thrust bearing clearance must not be important.
