I am planning on making another one using magnetic gearing to drive the dish. It should turn out to be really cool cause it will be totally noise less. That way I can make the sound effects using a tiny tiny gear box.
Thank you so much! In a few years maybe I plan to build 2 more models. The miniaturization of motors over the last several years has been incredible. I am hoping to encase a motor inside the drive shaft stem which hooks directly to the dish! No gears, no rubber spindle. Exactly what was seen in the movie.
Its incredible fella. As a huge fan of the movie I think you have it spot on. I'd love to be able to afford one. One day hopefully :) Looking forward to seeing your modifications and other works now
Yes I am! I posted this model on ebay a while ago for $1000.00. But nothing happened. What would you be willing to pay for one? I would be willing to sell the one in this video.
It's really sad, to spend so much time and effort to make this beautiful model as featured in the 1960 film. Once you push the lever forward it will disappear into the future, it'll be there but in the space of tomorrow.
Okay, how do we communicate privately? Can you contact me through info provided by RUclips? Don't really want to leave my email or phone on the website. Robert
$500 plus shipping. It will take around 2 months for build time.
