Are you Missing GOLD with your Minelab X-TERRA PRO?

  • "How To Find Gold" was one of my top searches when I first got a Metal Detector.
I still consider myself a beginner in the hobby of Treasure Hunting. If you are new to metal detecting.. hope this small experiment might help you.
The Metal Detector used for this gold test was the Minelab X-Terra Pro paired up with the new 8 x 5" V8X Coil.
It doesn't matter what metal detector is used... gold can read similar to aluminum foil on just about any metal detector, if you are discriminating out aluminum or pull tabs there is no doubt you are missing some gold.. but you are also saving yourself from digging a lot of trash!
    Is it worth it?
Have any tips on finding gold?

Karat gold has various base metals you have to account for. Platinum, palladium, silver, copper, zinc, and ,yes, I have seen iron, so of course it can throw a detector inconsistently. Yes I have seen iron mixed in a gold ring, was weird, but magnets don’t lie. Thought it was plated, but I recovered the actual percentage in weight. Was surprised, maybe not, chinesium.

Love educational videos. The more you use a detector the more you learn about the sounds and number combination for target ID.I hunt LI and NYC beaches and don't dig 1-4 or bottle cap #'s.You can't walk 3 feet without hitting one of those #'s.

Great video. I think for more of a realistic guide would be to do go over the target again but at 90° to your left or right. The readings could be completely different.

This is so true.. thanks for the video.. it's true across most spectrums of detectors. I had the same thing happen w my at pro and a signal that would be in the zinc penny range and it was a large 18k ring. Long story short..u have to dig a ton of garbage to get the good stuff..😅

My friend, the noun Gold is used too loosely. Yer looking for jewelry and relics. Gold is a whole different thing. I do have the xterra and found trash and coins, but going for "placer gold" is a challenge with this model. But, it will find gold. Keep at it!⛏️⛏️⛏️
