    I have just got into metal detecting, I have a cheap pin pointer and metal detector, they do the job very well for a good price. I have been looking for good metal detecting videos for a while as well and I just found you which is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

    Hello Austin! I find the numeric readout for Canadian coins differs with the condition of the soil. At sandlot volleyball courts the number for a $1 coin could be in the 30’s. However I detected a park when the soil was wet and got a reading of 85-90 for a $1 coin. Canadian dimes are always hard to pick out as foil gives the same reading at 67. Nickels always sound like garbage in the low 50’s on my machine (Garrett AT Gold)

    • @digginggopher
      @digginggopher 11 месяцев назад +1

      Canadian coins very in composition, for loonies and toonies 2012 to present are steel cored, while previously they were nickel and copper
      Nickels 2000 to present are steel core, nickels 1982-2000 are same as american, cupronickel, and prior to 1982 they were 100% nickel
      Dimes 2000-present are steel core, previously they were nickel.
      Pennies I'm not 100% sure of, 2000-present they were steel core, previous to 2000 they were zinc, and previous to zinc they were copper

      BobbyBass4 What is your Sensitivity number and are you using the Horseshoe Button Yet ??? And what I'm using is 12 Sensitivity and Park 1 and Minus ➖ 4 iron Bias and then All Tone's And then the Horseshoe Button and the lower sensitivity will help you out with the jumpy VDI and when it's jumpy VDI it's going to be a Junk Target And then the iron grunts will actually tell you about the target and then it will sound off great target but also you take the Coil edge and drag the Coil back and you will hear the Iron Grunts and it is a junk target and No need to dig it out.... and I hope this helps you with the X-Terra Pro and I also have the X-Terra Pro and I love it ❤️ and the knowledge that it's giving me about the target.... and my junk to Coin Ratio is ALOT better than when I was using the Simplex + ... and everything Was a good target Tone using it....

    • @carolrice2063
      @carolrice2063 11 месяцев назад +1

      @BobbyBass4 and you will need to get yourself some Coins and try them out and then once you get to know what the target coin Numbers are and then you can expand your range of target numbers and if you have any kind of Gold to work with and get those numbers and Tone's in your head and only Dig what is sounding good until you get to know what the detector is capable of telling you about the target and the X-Terra Pro is a totally great Detector and Not everything is good but you will know when you get over the Target's.....

    Seems y’all got a lot more rain in FL then us in LA this year. Soil here has been ash Grey and compacted. Very hard to dig. Am I right, or that’s one fertile and acidic field?

    Post 2012 loonies and toonies are steel core
    Post 2000 dimes nickels quarter and pennies are steel core
    Pennies 1996(I think) to 1999 are zinc
    40khz on the legend pulls out the steel core coins nicely as well as the nickel coins that they were before steel, I almost only hunt in 40khz here in canada, I might be missing some high conductors like silver that are really small, I still catch normal size silvers in 40khz

    Canadian coins do have a steel core and sound horrible. Before that most coins were made from nickel and copper which gave a decent tone. I could go into a ball park and find $20 in change because of the toonies and loonies...

    • @TreasureOutdoors
      @TreasureOutdoors  11 месяцев назад

      Would be nice! Harder to identify now because of the steel core huh? Sound like a bottle cap? 😆

      Actually on my Vanquish 540 a new Canadian Loonie or Toonie sounds more like a nail even in all metal mode. I search older sites anyway looking for silver coins so for me it is not really an issue.@@TreasureOutdoors
