I've tried all kinds of lumpia. Popiah, sariwa, thai or vietnamese but the overall lumpia I like is Shanghai and togue in a Filipino way of cooking. Yummy!
Lumpia is one of my absolute favorite foods. I make lumpia for Christmas Eve every year, its our family tradition that started when I was in highschool. We had a few women from the Filipino community come and teach my cheerleading team and our parents how to make lumpia to sell as a fundraiser and it was our most successful fundraisers. I haven't met anyone who doesn't love lumpia. I personally don't like spring rolls at all, they don't come close to being in the same league as lumpia.
One of the good thing about Philippines is as long as you have money you’ll never get hungry. There’s always something good to eat. And they’re healthier than American fast food
Memories rolled when she described a lumpiang shanghai with cheese as “with a twist.” The first lumpiang shanghai i ate in Manila sometime in late 70s or early 80s was filled with cheese. It seemed to be a novelty at that time because while lumpiang toge was popularly made at home, lumpiang shanghai was “delivered.” It disappeared for some time then reappeared in mid 80s as something filled with ground meat. That really confused me and i initially hesitated to call the meat-filled version as lumpiang shanghai because i was first exposed to the cheese-filled version.
Capitol resto and yankee doodle are really old places we buy take out in Pasay. Another go to is Wa Nam Batangas City. I am sure there are more places offering such delish food but when you know comfort food like shanghai - capitol yan at Yankee Doodle for my family.
Loved the video, Abi is so fun and entertaining! However it's a shame I don't understand, Tagalog :( Would it be possible for you guys to add English subs whenever Tagalog is spoken in the videos? ^^
That's 1 thing about my Filipino females, they can eat like a phat person who just smoke a kilo of weed & not gain a pound. I like this gal. She know how to present food.
