  • A bike computer, or head unit, is one of the most important bits of equipment for cyclists. It can show maps, power data, heart rate, elevation and loads more, helping inform and improve your riding. But what do top pros have showing on theirs? Si got hold of former world champion Mads Pedersen’s head unit and asked Adam Yates what’s on his Wahoo!

      distance, clock, elapsed time, speed, 3s power, average power, cadence, HR (large size). use the HR to keep within my limits (never happens lol) same display for MTB and Road. I don't maps very often and I just tend to ride rather than following a route. If I do a route I have the map uploaded so I can have the climb data. The climb feature is handy for doing munros on my bike.

    I've had a few head units over the years and one thing that is very very important to me now is serviceability, warranty and parts availability. People spend big money on a phone and expect prompt warranty service if need be and parts availability post warranty. I've had a unit go(USB port went)and I couldn't get parts post warranty. Also because that some head units have to returned to another foreign location for warranty at the owners cost. One thing I'll say for Garmin is there's lots of aftermarket and genuine parts from cases, screens and batteries for reasonable costs.

    Explain to me: Why hasn't Wahoo and Garmin added a feature on the maps that allow the coaching staff to modify the route colors (before the race) to help the pros know how much energy the coaches want them to ride at? Or, any other tool/metrics that the coaches can advise them with. They always have race pre-briefings... Remind them when they are out there!

    • @germanlondono8700
      @germanlondono8700 11 месяцев назад +1

    • @WayneKeen
      @WayneKeen 11 месяцев назад +1

      As I was watching, I wondered something similar, could the software let the riders and coaches take notes that could be downloaded onto the unit and perhaps have the unit talk to them to remind them about turns, hills or places where the rider doesn't want to get stuck on one side of the road or another, personal, functional notes. If I am thinking of it, then I suspect they thought about it 15 or 20 years ago...
