    Most of the people would glue the vinyl to the seat instead of applying the correct forces in the correct angles to staple it to the back. Even applying glue using a professional spry system, when the glue dries it hardens and the good side of the fabric will copy all those imperfections, so no matter what how even the glue is spread it wont look professional. In this case and almost all the cases you should not apply glue there's always a work around. No heat which is great, proper way of stretching the fabric and staples selection. 1 single piece, no top and/or double stitching here so no plastic is needed to make it waterproof, nice job man, well executed as always :)

      @@Cechaflo Muchas gracias por la información, como siempre 😁😁, y es una maravilla que tanto en México como en Estados Unidos haya tanta variedad cuando uno va a comprar material de tapicería! Aquí en España, o al menos en mi ciudad, Zaragoza, tal vez los tapiceros profesionales sí que pueden comprar bastante material, pero los que lo hacemos en plan amateur, disponemos de pocas opciones. Aún recuerdo aquel vídeo donde iba usted a comprar cuero a aquel almacén, que es el sueño de todos los que nos gusta el mundillo de la tapicería 🤤🤤🤤👏👏👏

    Please don't make the mistake I made and order premium quality Vinyl ATV seat cover, which turned out to have ZERO stretch in the fabric. Thought I could apply heat gun to it, but all it does is melt the fabric or ruin the surface texture. Getting hold of the right material for your seat shape is a must.

    Can you use a thin 1/4” or so sheet or memory type foam instead of headliner foam??? Or does the headliner foam have a stronger backing? Or I guess I’m asking why the headliner foam

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  9 месяцев назад +2

      As the old hard density seat foam has a rough surface the added layer foam is useful to even it. Any automotive foam is helpful and it could be thin or slightly thicker. Why a headliner foam is because that was what I had at hand.

    • @jasondiddle4226
      @jasondiddle4226 9 месяцев назад

      @@Cechaflo i was curious if the headliner with the backing was more sturdy and easier to stretch across the seat than say a thin sheet of memory foam?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@jasondiddle4226 The headliner foam backing makes it sturdier than a memory foam. If your motorcycle seat foam cushion is in good condition you could add the memory foam over to make the surface softer.

  • @Kris-82
    @Kris-82 3 года назад +2

    Can I ask you why you didn't glue thin layer of foam to original one same as single pieces and same for upholstery? It's because sitting on it you allow it to work/bend?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  3 года назад +4

      I put over the thin foam (foamed backing headliner fabric) to only erase some irregularities on the restored foam base.
      It should be well stretched, otherwise wrinkles could appear on vinyl surface. The same applies for vinyl material.

    Fantastic video Cechaflo. Please, 2 questions, my M.C. seat is very hard- when replacing the cover I was thinking of gluing memory foam to the top of the old foam and then covering with new vinyl.... is this a bad idea??? Second, is there a store / shop, in Mexico to buy the glue / vinyl / foam.... that you could recommend?? or a online retailer that is good and ships to Mexico.... or do need to use Ebay? Seat is VERY basic, a Yamaha XT250.

    • @Cechaflo

      Not a bad idea of adding memory foam on top the old foam. It would add softness.
      A gel pad would also be useful. Not really difficult to install on your seat. You can buy the gel pad on Ebay, Amazon, etc. Check out these videos:

      Es un poco dificil reconocer a la vista si el vinil es marino o es automotríz(estandar). Lo importante es comprar este material de una tienda acreditada que nos va a vender el vinil marino original, el cual tendrá mas resistencia a los rayos UV y no se decolora. Ademas tiene una protección contra formación de hongos(pudrición). Pasa lo mismo con la piel/cuero.
      Por ejemplo esta tienda es confiable:
      www.albrightssupply.com/products-search?qs=Marine+vinyl
      Los vinilos de grado marino, se utiliza en tapicería en barcos,botes, toldos e incluso muebles de exterior. Estos vinilos están hechos para ser duraderos, resistentes a la abrasión y al moho, y no destiñen. Tienen la capacidad de soportar cambios extremos de temperatura y eventos climáticos. Si el diseño es adecuado, los vinilos de grado marino también se utilizan a menudo en aplicaciones comerciales, hospitales y hogares.
