In this breakdown Jessica Clemons breaks down the entire menu, characters and easter eggs you might have missed! One of the biggest takeaways from this film was the literal menu, and the lore behind it Jessica talks more behind the scenes working with Chef's Table David Gelb and Dominique Crenn who is the first woman to win a 3-star Michelin star for her restaurant!

Nicholas Hoult's character taking photos of the food, knowing he was going to die an hour later...what were those photos for?! My absolute favorite part of the movie, shows how absurdly vain and obsessed he is.
He was a legit villain, damn well played too.
Wow 🤦🏿♂️
maybe he was posting on social media simultaneously
@@anonymouslearner2454they mentioned in the movie there was no cell service on the island
@@fidel425 Aha right!
I did not even connect the fact that Margot was the only one that got bread! LOL This was such a great video and I love your energy!
Tortilla is a form of bread
After I finished the movie I was so hungry
Same it made me crave a cheeseburger so much
Yeah
Facts
Had to go make a cheeseburger
I made a cheeseburger afterwards
I was the Stand-In for Ralph Fiennes on this. We Shot it in the Summer months down around Savannah. Mark Mylod was an amazing person to work for and he was emanating positive vibes the whole time.
There was a scene where they needed me to stand-in for Fiennes and I was standing with my back to the rest of the cast for about 20 minutes. And then John Leguizmos starts talking to me for a few minutes, and when I turned around he lost it, because I had the same build and hair cut as Fiennes we were carbon copies from behind. Janet Mcteer and Paul Andelstein teased me about it. love interacting with that cast.
I love that for the 3rd course, the plate was the phone cord that his father used against his mother which led to the stabbing. It is visually amazing
Absolutely need a part 2. The critic's assistant always changed his mind which makes him hiding in a chicken's shed really fitting.
Would definitely watch a part 2!
They’re all dead
@@filthyxitalians7564 part 2 of the video, with more easter eggs, not part 2 of the movie
Before this movie was even released, when there was just a synopsis, I expected cannibalism to be involved. This isn't the type of movie I normally watch but with such a great cast, I couldn't help myself.
That's what I expected to
That's what my boyfriend expected.
Ralph Fiennes is one of the great actors. I adore him.
Has had my heart since The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Menu is poetry. You can’t deny that
but good poetry? nah.
you dont know what poetry is...
You're right
@@thumperson3359 yes it is
I love how serious it is but it made it so funny
I absolutely adored this movie. It was such an obvious stab at real world society and is easily in my top 15 movies of all time. So yes please give me more details
A few moments thru the movie I thought, this reminds me of Midsommar, then the ending really sealed the deal!
It's like you guys know when I watch something. As soon as I finished the movie, this pops up. I love it
These are tortillas! Tortillas deliciosas!
Making Tyler do what he did was a dark chef’s kiss for me, this was a crazy watch I really enjoyed it
"Balance of power. The money and the talent should be more equal."
YT has shown to have forgotten this
Need to part two!! Thank you Chef ❤
Oh wow, no wonder the body language and posture of the kitchen staff looked so legit.
I still nvr rlly got why the assistant had to be killed
Great video, Jess.
Though i did have to check i hadn't switched playback to 1.5 speed... You talk fast Miss Lulu
would definetly watch a Part 2 and also would love to hear your opinion on why you believe they just stood there while being burned to death in the last scene?
That chicken thigh dish was a nice touch, I was like nah this guy’s got jokes 😂 I wish he didn’t blow up the place at the end and we could have another one like this
The cheeseburger seen one of my favorites. That’s where everything culminates to the main issue and true meaning of the movie
Can you explain? I didn’t understand what happened there
Like your pacing a lot. I’m glad you got through the entire movie so quickly. Really cool extra details.
Can you do more details of this film?!
I watched it last night and absolutely loved it
If The Menu teaches us anything, it's *don't go to a restaurant where Voldemort is Chef*.
This was my favorite horror movie of 2022 (which says a lot!) so it's awesome seeing you guys cover it.
Not horror really
It's not Horror really.
@@thumperson3359 it's a horror comedy so technically it fills both fields as a horror movie with scares, shocking scenes and such and as a comedy with jokes and such!! You could call this movie a satire horror comedy.
This is one of my favourite movies ever, mostly because i'm in the restaurant industry aswell.
@@DavidAlvarez-gw5zc If it has Anya Taylor-Joy chances are it's horror, with the exception of Emma and Queen's Gambit
@@thegameclub6509 where were the scares though? Or shocking scenes? Only one is maybe the suicide but that's it
I liked the acting but the movie made no sense. Everyone just accepted to die 🤷♂
Ralph Fiennes would be a sick Dracula after watching this movie.
No one really mentions how Nicholas Hoult successfully made Tyler super obnoxious. Great acting
Come someone answer this please lol
Why is he taking pictures if he KNOWS they’re all gonna die 😂
The Tyler character? He didn't know they were all going to die. Everything the Chef and his team did was seen as performance art with food.
@@WhiskerDooz yes he did
Watch the movie
That’s why the hooker was mad at him lol
For the fun of it. He does that for meals he enjoyed so why not for his last meals.
Great summation. One of the most random sidenote I'll give is most people don't realize this, and its a very common error. Anya Taylor-Joy's first name is pronounced "Ann-ya" not "On-ya".
Beautiful Jess! Love seeing a fellow PNWesterner succeeding! This was beautifully dissected!
Part 2 please😁 I love this movie, it needs you to figure out that the heck is going on.
This video was a good cleanser from so much MCU "stuff"
Hey, you’re doing non superhero movies, cool! Love this movie and thank you for behind the scene and additional information.
I don't know if this will get a Part 2, but I loved The Menu and I love this video.
This movie tried so hard to be deep and ended up as shallow as a cheeseburger.
As someone who's been in the food industry for sixteen years, "the mess" hit home for me
Didn't even realize the critic duo were named Phil and Lil
That cheeseburger did look delicious though
My mom musta watched this movie 10 gyatdaym times
thank you so much for covering this! do you think NR cover other horror movies?
Watched this movie last night and absolutely loved it.
Sorry Have a amazing day
This movie surprised the hell outta me! I absolutely loved it, every one in it did such an amazing job.
Absolutely will watch part 2 with ya!!
I love you all! We love you chef! Now let’s die!
Clicked so fast lol🤣
What a coincidence: I’m making this cheeseburger for my bf for his birthday tonight! I promised him NO explosions.
Yes! We request a part 2!
Soo glad you made this! I was just saying "Why didnt they cover it?"
HOLY SHIT IVE EATEN THERE! I have lived in Seattle my whole life...... Not really anything to brag about anymore.... Since it became shanty town and all
Definitely part 2!!!!
How did you like the ending? I was hoping all of them would die or have more mysterious ending like in Triangle of Sadness.
I was waiting for thisss! You are the only one I fully trust to create easter eggs like this.
im down for a part 2
As a chef myself; I love seeing your prospective of this movie. Need a part two
Those Dishes look good
slowik: tyler, the food blogger, come to cook
slowik: YOU CAN'T COOK (avada kedavra tone)
It's about losing yourself entirely to satisfy others...damn I felt that
My cousin treated me to a 2💫 Michelin restaurant meal AFTER I had watched The Menu. The food was fabulous...and I made sure i thanked everyone 😅
How pretentious. You get paid, you do your job. You don’t like your job? The validation of getting paid for your work is not enough? Take your labor elsewhere.
I'd love another deep dive if there's more to share. Just watched on Hulu and we thought it was hilarious.
So my question is how did Tyler know they were all going to die but the other guest had no clue That's the one thing that bothers me about the movie they never explain this
Thank you, I consider myself a decent film-understander; but I left this movie scratching my head.
I love how serious it is but it made it so funny
What I see wrong with this movie is nothing. what this movie points out is what’s wrong with our society today. It really is a true reflection on what is sick with society today wonderfully done movie.
Your channel is the literal character of Tyler, lol. But I'm still watching. Maybe i'm a part of the problem too
PART 2 ! ! !
That movie is unwatchable. To articulate anything else is laughable.
Any recommendations or suggestions on movies that keep you guessing like this one ???? I went in uninterested and now I want to find movies on this field of cinematography
It was supposed to be one off menu.. Made it confusing Nicholas hoult's character
after wachting the movie, I really enjoyed it. butt knowing all of this makes me even more likeing it.
Why no comment on the chefs weird home or the silver door or the visual symbolism of the meals? So much I want to know more about!
I rather enjoy s’mores 😂. I have an abstract palette.
Great review!
I wonder why they couldn't fit in more details if they had more. Maybe there's a strict time limit for their videos.
Great breakdown...makes sense now. I liked the movie but thought it was weird they resigned to their fate in the end.
After I finished the movie I wanted a burger
I want to see cool but it won’t happen or at least something a little bit more. You know what I mean it’s an amazing movie and that but still you know what I mean
Excuse, I was looking at the menu and would like to order part two. Thanks.
I was honestly disappointed there were no people on the menu.
Bout time
It would have been hilarious if they casted Gordon the f Ramsey as the chef 😂
What a gimmycky movie, i was right by not going pass 30-ish minutes.
Please make a part 2, there's an easter egg in the name of the burger joint in the newspaper article on the wall.
Pimping skin care for this is laughable. Way to miss the point.
Would love a Part 2!
Hi
Movie was great
Yes please part two!!!
Is it true that the burger was meat from the men who died? Like Tyler and Jeremy?
Big Night has competition for Best Food Movie?. ;-)
Yes! A part 2 is needed
Art is a beautiful thing that has ever been created before, however there will be others who will use art as a sword than a flower
I love the rollercoaster of the movie, it is very artistic and beutiful
Great movie! But i be damn if im paying after you told me that you are going to kill me
I felt that "I'm poor." I got like 200 v bucks
