ok, i think your brows are perfect! the color matches your hair perfectly(the base color). Maybe we see something different that what you are seeing in your mirror? I dont know. I wear ash brown and the color is perfect.
I think just the fresh pen was really pigmented. The colour is perfect on me now that I've used it a bit! Kinda like mascara, it gets better with a bit of use :)

This was a great review! Your brows turned out beautiful 😍 I recently discovered NYX brow pen too, and I instantly fell in love! I agree with you on the issue of bare skin showing through. I use brow powder before using the brow pen, and it worked out great for me. I actually need a darker shade than the one I have (I have Ash brown) so I’ll look into getting soft brown next time!
I see that you've tried the NYX brow pen in Ash Brown.....I'm not able to buy this in the store, so I would have to order on line. I really want to try this particular shade! It needs to be a cool toned (very important!) - light to medium brown with grey undertone. Do you think the Ash Brown brown pen would work for me? I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thank you!
