307 Wyoming 4E this should be standard on all SL models. I can understand SLR models forgoing integrated storage in pursuit of stiffness and lightness.
I went to my TREK LBS to purchase a SL 5 60 cm during Trek 2019 black Friday sale. My cycling buds came back from gravel world all excited about this bicycle. I LUV IT. Perfect bicycle for my northern Illinois rides. My 38 Vittoria gravel tires make a stable safe ride in snow ice weather. The disc brake are able to function in below freezing temperatures and wet conditions. The bottom bracket was a big sale item as an all-around bicycle. Trek lifetime frame warranty made me feel comfortable about carbon frame longevity. The carbon frame big tires plus my Brooks saddle equates to awesomely comfortable ride. If I feel the need for speed take my Madone out on a warm dry sunny summer day. I compared a bulky gravel bike to Domane SL5 and realized 95% of all my roads do not need any bigger tires. No regrets after 700 miles thru December to March in northern Illinois winter riding. Thanks Trek for nailing this bicycle
What's the difference you see between your Domane and Madone? Outside of the obvious, like geometry. Like do you notice a practical difference in IsoSpeed systems? Comfort after a long ride? Aerodynamics (practically speaking)? I hear people say Madones are super comfortable and then question the existence of a Domane. Thanks!
@@k3v1n7g The domane sl5 is built for riding on various surfaces with the larger tire size up to 38s. The larger tires provide more shock absorbance than 25 on the madone. This is not a speed machine with my 60cm 38 tubeless tires weighing in 22.5 lbs. I have 950 miles on the domane now with no complaints. My madone would not handle below freezing temperatures roads and gravel. I am switching out my vittoria terrine dry 38s for vittoria terrine zero 32s for summer rides. Hopefully this helps stay safe
Now if only size 60 or above was stocked in Japan. I think I’ll be buying one in Australia next trip home, this is just the perfect bike, and has better gear ratios than my Emonda. Well done Trek team.
Belíssima bicicleta, estou apaixonado só em vê essas máquinas, belíssimo acabamento, sofisticação nos mínimos detalhes, parabéns a Trek, vocês arrasando mais uma vez!
taughtyouhowtodougie for me I’m super glad to have size specific parts. My size 60 has 44cm which make it more comfortable and less stress to get into any position which feels like I can hold aero positions for longer.
If road takes another cue from the mountain world, we are in for some crazy wideness. It's a bit ridiculous on the other side of the fence now. Smacking trees will become a new hobby...
Trek now added a T47 threaded BB. Bye Bye BB 90. I am so mad as my 2018 has that PF BB90. I wish there was a way to retrofit the BB90 with a threaded cup to minimize the creaks. Oh well, I will salivate when I see the 2020 Domane on the road...
Token do something that may be of interest to you: www.tokenproducts.com/bottom-brackets/470-bb3724 Seriously considering trying one myself, fed up of creaky BB90 crap.
The isospeed is not enough efficient on irregular roads compared to a VTC (e.g. Cube Kathmandou). There is no amortized fork in front, so it is not much useful, all the less with slick tires. I add that when you do not use the battery over 15 minutes you need to remove it to reset it and reinstall it, a stupid procedure that does not exist to other manufacturers. Then the removal of the battery is much harder (because the eject button is very hard to displace) than on a VTC like e.g. Cube Kathmandu.
I bought the wrong sized Domane :( its a 2019 SL6, so not this latest version. Size 52, Im looking for a 49-50! It would be so awesome to find a swap! sending a Hail Merry to anyone reading this Hahahahaha
WOW! NOW THAT'S A BIKE! OKAY I WILL GO BUY IT ASAP! Let me check my wallet first. And... 5 euros? Okay you know what? I will start saving and playing the lottery at the same time! I am such a genius!
Hi friend. Today, April 2021 I have found a retailer that is selling me the Trek Domane SL 2017 (ring breaks) with ultegra at 1300 USD. Apparently the bike is in a good condition. What do you think ? Should I buy this bike? Currently, I have a Trek Domane AL2 from 2019. I was thinking on trading it as a part of the payment. Thank you for your answer I'll appreciate too much.
Alain Spreutels I own an Emonda which is a lot lighter than my Domane but I can tell you from my rides so far I’m going faster more comfortably than any of my Emonda rides. Really amazed at this bike.
There are no gravel roads here in Illinois or Wisconsin near where I live, not sure why bigger tires and dirt roads are being pushed on certain bikes. No need for such tires on concrete
I'm in Rockford and we just finished a long ride on crushed gravel. There's also a great limestone gravel trail that runs east/west through Lake Mills Wisconsin. Both of these trails are awesome and perfect for a 38 size tire.
Have a 2013 Domane ... flat out love it ... but ... is the new one a "triple" or a "compact double" ??? All my bikes currently have "triples" ... and I will not even consider going to a "Compact Double" I have (30) gears currently and a compact double has (22) Hmmmm??? Same basic range tho ... Oh, Don't give me any BS ... I'm a degreed Mech Eng ... so I understand gearing and gear ratios. I love my "granny-gears" and will keep them ... Let me know when you make a 5-Series Domane w/ a triple and disc brakes and I will go and up-grade ... till then I'll keep my under 17lb 5-Series Domane w/ rim brakes ... A "Compact Double" is a Deal-Breaker ... ( I know several people that up-graded from a triple to a carbon frame w/ a Compact Double ... love the carbon frame and disc brakes, but absolutely HATE the "Compact Double" gearing ... they are either spending lots of $$$'s to get the bike right for them, or they are just returning/selling their new bike ... ) And I can grind up hills better and faster, then I am also quicker going downhill too ... so please explain to my legs why a "Compact Double" set-up is better for me ... Mr Bike Designer (sic) ....
Greater stopping power is better at any speed; allows one to brake later, which means faster and more efficient riding. Especially with little to no weight or aero penalty. It's cute seeing 47-year olds cling to outdated and inferior technology...
So I'm months from 70 I'll take the disc brakes. I can hit 30ph on flat level ground no wind. I just started cycling 3 months ago. Now downhill I could hit mph so then I don't need disc brakes?
@@PaddleDogC5 did you need them before? You guys act like you’re a Ferrari engine. Disc brakes will not reduce squat from your lap times. How much is a 2019 Trek Domane worth ? I bike once a week. This bike disintegrates on the road so easily. It's a little toy that should have a warning label " Do not use for biking". POS !!!
I love my 2021 SL5 in red and black. Just completed my first 100 mile ride and the iso speed definitely helped!
Will the isospeed thing wear out? Im thinking that since its a bushing rubber
Great looking bike. Using the down tube to hold and extra inner tube sounds brilliant.
Love the storage in the tube. How awesome is that! 👍😀
