“IT’S THE PEOPLE … IT’S THE PEOPLE … IT’S THE PEOPLE!” That was an outstanding and emotional video recap. All time RUclips favorite of mine! THANK YOU!!
I just go back from my first thru hike. I did a section of the PCT, largely inspired by your film. I've watched it in full probably 5 times now. Gonna watch it again in a few days. Appreciating your art from NYC
It’s so cool seeing your inner evolution and reflections that have come about from your thru hikes. I completely agree that it’s the people that make the experience, and there’s something so intense and bittersweet about the relationships you create on your travels.
Hayduke sounds way better than the PCT this year. The snow we have up in the California mountains is no joke and I'm sure it's stopped a lot of people from hiking thru this year.
Damn, some of these things are exactly what I needed to hear today. 'You won't figure it all out on trail' - setting my expectations right for my first thru on the PCT starting THIS SUNDAY ahhh. All the best on the Hayduke, Mac from halfwayanywhere is there atm as well! Can't wait to see the videos coming.
Ah! Really exciting!!! Also appreciated how you talk about the post-trail preparation too. Not too many discuss the post-trail life and feelings after completion 🙏🏽 have fun out there! 🙌🏽
Enjoyed your PCT videos, look forward to seeing you guys on the Hayduke if you record that too! Not near as famous as the PCT, only heard about that trail several years ago myself. Have been enjoying misc day hikes in the region though for many years, a very beautiful area!
I feel this. After coming off trail work seasons, I relate to the detachment so much. The way I live is so different now, it’ll always be changed. But I am craving some stability.
Every time you upload I think maybe I could do a through hike too. Now this is a WILD thought for me as I have spent the last 8 years mostly in bed recovering from a complicated health situation. I've been feeling better over the past 6 months or so and it seems not too wild anymore. Thank you for inspiring me!
I was only yesterday thinking I wish I could find another content creator/story teller like Elina to follow. So excited to see the finished movie from this adventure.
Aaaah I almost went to hike the Hayduke this year but decided against it (decided to actually work for a while) and now seeing you and halfway anywhere doing it makes me regret all my life choices 😭 Happy hiking, I can't wait to see what's coming ❤
wow -- I live in Arizona and was inspired by your PCT video to do the Te Araroa when I graduate college this upcoming Fall. We're half a year apart from switching places :')
The thru will be good foundation training for your ultra❤. (But you will still have a lot of training to do when you get back). I used AZT as an endurance training block to kick start my training for an Ironman
You look like you're in fantastic shape! I'm so incredibly stoked to follow along with your journey once it's all filmed and edited! You've played a large role in making me finally decide to thru-hike the PCT this year. '23 looks to be a landmark year for snow on trail, so I'm nervous as hell but having a blast training like hell for my trip.
So excited for this journey, I’d love to do a thru hike one day but it does both scare and excite me 😬 Really happy your running going well and 🎉 to the ultra goal. I was in Chamonix training for (and finishing) UTMB when you were in Chamonix last year 😊
Good luck in this new project! I will be training in Chamonix for the UTMB this summer. If you have a few days before or after your TMB and want to do some trail running, let me know! If you need advice about training for an ultra-trail, I would be more than happy to help!
Glad your with a team. Hayduke so different than the established trails. There is the route finding . . . and then there is the water finding (though it seems like a good year water-wise). We grow by pushing beyond current experience/limits. Southern Utah will be a test. No place I have ever hiked is rougher on gear. Good Luck Elina!
Big push on limitations definitely. At this stage in my hiking career, I wouldn't be confident enough to go it alone. Team-route is the way to go for me 100%
I watched Constantine (HikingAmerica) do the Hayduke and that "trail" was no joke. It's really hard and requires good navigational skills. (He and Magpie recently finished the TA, by the way.) You can do it though. Just make smart choices.
Hayduke! ruclips.net/video/HWqK7LMW-5U/видео.html one of my favourite thru hiking series. This is the link to the full hike but the individual episodes are great.
The part where you talk about building relationships/ communities is so true and kinda hit home. I’m 25 and I guess my “thru hikes” were volunteering abroad, I’ve made friends, and had to leave again. It hurts and I thought? Is it worth the heartbreak having to leave new friends behind every time? I long for consistency and that sense of belonging, but would I chose to rather not have loved these people in the first place? No… how weirdly brave of people to engage and love when we know that things will come to an end, knowing they will hurt us eventually. But we do it anyway.
Did you see the family called The Field Trip a mother and 4 kids doing 30plus miles a day.Do you miss not going to be able to hike with your kids since you just travel
🔥Looking forward to seeing the SouthWest through your eyes! Have a great hike & hit me up if you need anything when you get close to the Canyon!
Time to cross trails... again? 😈
Please don't overthink this, just do it and enjoy being in the moment. Advice from someone in their late sixties. Good luck!
“IT’S THE PEOPLE … IT’S THE PEOPLE … IT’S THE PEOPLE!”

It’s so cool seeing your inner evolution and reflections that have come about from your thru hikes. I completely agree that it’s the people that make the experience, and there’s something so intense and bittersweet about the relationships you create on your travels.
There's some familiar-looking trails there in the intro! Hope you have a great trip.
heck yes. I am so stoked you are back to sharing life with us viewers.
