My grandparents had a houseboat on Kentucky Lake back in the ‘60s when I was a little kid. Used to spend a couple weeks on it every summer. I still think about it. This takes me way back. Enjoy!
I was a houseboat instructor back in the day and you guys had it mostly right with the ropes, you'd probably want to go out at more of a 45 deg angle and tie up a little further on land if possible. But tying up from the back is definitely the right call. Also, it's not bad to give the boat a little throttle once you've beached it. Sometimes we would throttle way up when synching the lines so when you let off, you know they're tight. Since I'm commenting, if you have an older boat, make sure the generator exhaust isn't exiting between the pontoons and has a proper stack. There was a bunch of accidents in the 90s (probably still happening) where people would swim under the boat, then pass out from the carbon monoxide and drown.
I’ve been on a house boat. I’ve slept on a house boat. I’ve never thought about taking a trip on a houseboat. Until now. Adding it to my bucket list. Thanks Mav!
Been a follower of your videos for years now…Love to see you in Canada again, especially in Ontario. My great grandfather was an avid fisherman up north and we are lucky enough to have numerous photos of his prize musky catches over the years (5ft+ in size). Definitely a fresh river prize to catch despite their overall “gruesome” appearance, especially with their size. Anyways, glad to see you enjoying yourself again in Ontario!
I would so love to go or live on that houseboat! That's the ultimate! But since I'm older now and not in such great shape and on SSDI, I will be just as happy watching Mav on his adventure and being glad I don't have to go thru all of the motions and emotions! Thanks for sharing the adventure Mav, sure enjoyed it as usual ❤❤
Was just up there a few weeks ago with 3 friends at Rainy Lake. For those thinking it maybe to spendy. Split the cost with some friends. Lot's of room and a buddy boat comes with it. Ate so much walleye we were running out of creative recipes. Stuck with the gold old gold standard. 1. Box shore lunch 2. 1/2 Cup Flour 3. Tablespoon of Lawry's Mix and apply to wet fillet. Cook same sized pieces in oil at least 375F (much hotter it will smoke) for 6 -7 minutes. Great video, house boats are a blast.
Mav you are the man!!! Im a bloke living in Auckland NZ and ive truthfully only discovered your addictive content since last week. From living rent free in NYC to camping in a tent for one night on the "apparent" helicopter pad, its so very addictive. This 37 min video is for me the best one, im certainly not a fisherman but the houseboat is something ive always wanted to live on. Thankyou for your inviting us into your world if only for a short while. MRES look scrummy as, hard to find in NZ but im trying to hunt them out lolz. Again a thousand thankyous mav.
For frozen food, leave in water but have a constant drip for 30m. The constant disturbance of the water will allow for significantly faster thawing speeds. Water can act as an insulator if left in stillness.
I grew up about 20 minutes away from where Mav launched his boat. My family rented out two houseboats from the same place they got theirs earlier this year - Gill’s in Morson, Ontario. Crazy to see Mav hanging out somewhere I know well!
was i the only one dying from laughing at the beginning when he went to tie up the houseboat and the tree casually falls over and he goes "i dont think around that one" so casually
Watching this before heading out to work this morning really puts me in a positive mood. To know brighter days like this are ahead for me really helps me get through these sort of days.. Thank you for that Mav. Your vids help more than you'll ever know.
Another great adventure Mav. Thanks for taking us along. I think most of us want to live vicariously through you. What a nice houseboat. Can’t wait to see more. 😁
If mav isn’t living proof of not following what everyone tells you to do or how to live but instead making what you love your career then I don’t know who is. You are an inspiration to us all brother.
Loving the long video. I just kicked back with a crown and coke and lived vicariously through you. This all looks so fun. Take me with sometime, eh? For real though thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos. From the multiple cameras to the editing, to biting your phone clamp hanging over water while unhooking a fish, the dedication is prime and we appreciate it so much.
I didn’t expect myself watching a half hour youtube video 😅. I’m not interested in fishing but I really enjoyed watching this video. Great content keep up👍
Haha I never fish but for some reason I get hooked on Mavs fishing videos, especially ice fishing. I don’t know why, but I just let it happen and keep watching haha
Excellent video Mav ! You made me remember the week I spent on Lake Powell on a four bedroom two bath houseboat with seven of my friends & relatives. We also towed a ski boat and had three of our jet skis along. It was one of my best vacations ever.

I have done the houseboat vacays several times. One thing when “beaching” for the night is to use TWO ropes, one off each front corner, this AFTER nosing the boat onto dry land.
I just got back to MN after a week up at Eagle Lake. Ontario fishing is another level of fishing, I've never caught so many walleyes and nothern in my life. Didn't fish for muskie much but was able to snag one while jigging for walleyes. Stoked to see the boat back in action after the sweet yammy repower!
I've been watching a load of yacht/catamaran vids lately and was thinking to myself Mav would probably love being on the water for a change and then you come out with this vid 😂. Looks like you had a load of fun 👍🏻
Muskie’s are elusive and rare here in PA. Cool to see ya catching them. I was reeling in a small sunfish one time on an ultralight rod, just messing around on a lake at a family picnic. Not fishing serious at all. As I reeled the pan fish in a giant Musky hit the fish. I fought him for 15-20 minutes before he finally broke off. This was at Keystone Lake in New Alexandria, PA. An hour give or take outta Pittsburgh, PA.
as an Ontarian myself it feels encouraging to see someone have this much fun on northern fresh water rather than the warm Sothern ocean. i love my great lakes but it will never compare to the diversity of the great blue

Hey mav I’m one of your silent viewers and I have some advice for the frozen meat just put it in the pan on medium heat and add a little bit of water and add whatever seasonings your gonna use and cover it and let it defrost and cook and mix it or move it while you wait cause it takes a while sometimes I hope this helps. If the meat is ground meat it’s easier to do this but if it’s a whole type meat style that’s frozen I recommend you put it in water and leave it in the packaging and let it defrost like that I hope this helps
Mav your boat is letting you know that you can't leave her for that long without giving her some attention! LOL! I haven't been fishing in years! Used to go several times a year. I once caught a 37" muskie on a piece of bubblegum! I was just messing around as we were headed back to the cabin. Fun times! Thanks for the memories! Be safe out there and keep on truckin!
Mav that was definitely an amazing day of fishing for muskey’s for sure!!! Usually they say it’s the one fish in every 10,000 cast!!! I don’t think that you guys even came close to making 10,000 cast while out fish for the day!!! To be able to catch four of them between the two of you is definitely awesome!!! Awesome video and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!
yea buddy Ontario! Just started watching your videos a few days ago and honestly thought you were Canadian just from the way you talk and the Trailer Park Boys references LOL
This video was so much fun! Those fish are huge. I would love to stay on a houseboat like that with my best friend that would be so much fun. We both love to fish. I enjoyed this video see you in the next one
Been following this channel for a long time and I’m very happy to see you get back into fishing miss that part of this channel a lot. Hope to see more fishing videos!
When I was around 9 years old I used to troll for bass in our family paddle boat every evening after dinner at the cottage and one night I caught a 36 inch muskie on my kid fishing pole with 6lb test.
