John, I hope you are alive and well and read this because this video was absolutely amazing and spot on with what I kept asking myself "why does it turn over for a full two seconds and then just stop instantly and not crank". Tractor would do this every try after I would wait a few minutes. I spent hours googling, watching you tube and troubleshooting and they just did not add up to the issue I was having. Followed your awesome directions and it fired right up. I never saw this part mentioned anywhere else as something to look into. I subscribed to your channel to see what other fixes you may have out there. Thanks so much...its been a long day but, at least I can mow my yard now.

I was having the same problem and had it narrowed down to this component but cutting the pin off solved the problem without having to buy a new one. As a note to others, there is a small copper washer that needs to go back on to prevent a gas leak, so be careful not to lose it when you remove this part. Thanks for the tip John!

My Husqvarna died on me today for the first time in 12 long years! This video was the FIRST that came up for my model number, and from the time I clicked on the link, til the time I was cutting grass again, was about 10-15 minutes; Thanks John for the solution!! I just used a cutting disk on my dewalt grinder and cut the top quarter inch off the pin, replaced the copper washer, and screwed it back on with a 12mm open ended box wrench.

I never leave comments, but this one is well deserved. I changed the spark plug, installed new push rods, adjusted the valves, new oil and filter, and new battery. Gave this a try and it cranked up and started after 3 seconds because the gas had drained out. next start cranked once and started with zero problems. Thanks for the video and the knowledge!!! very much appreciated!!!

I pulled my fuel solenoid and tested it and it seemed to be working. I went to Lowes and purchased hex nut m8-1.0 and hex cap screws m8-1.0 x12 and made a plug to plug hole. Mower fired right up. Even though fuel solenoid acts like it’s working doesn’t mean it’s not faulty. Thanks for your post, my friend.

THANK YOU! Can't believe that just worked. I have the same exact ride on mower and it was doing the same thing you described in the video. I first thought it was just a spark plug since it had been awhile since I last changed it. Nope, it was that little "doo-hickey" causing the problem. So grateful for people like you that post videos to help others. Thanks again!

THANK YOU!!! YOU JUST SAVED ME $$$$! I was cutting grass and mower suddenly shut off. Couldn’t restart. After cleaning carb it wouldn’t start. I did what u did and ding ding, started right up. However, when i plugged the solenoid wires back in, they started burning, melting and smoking. I unplugged solenoid and so far it starts and runs like before. I’m no mechanic, but I’m pretty sure the wires don’t need to be reconnected since that part now serves no purpose to the mower. Woohoo!!!!!

This is FYI ok? A mate who worked at a mechanic shop told me once how they fixed a very small 2 min fix problem on a womans car who left it at the shop for the day. It was a loose distributer lead causing a run rough situation. The mechanic listed a whole lot of BS fixes he said he did and charged her $700. I had a similar thing happen on my car brakes... but you cant argue with them while they hold your keys lol. So when the local mower man wanted me to deliver my Husqvana to his shop for a few days... I said forget it mate. haha.

Great video...one exception comment. Bypassing your backup blade shutoff. I use to want to do that to my mower, unfortunately I work in an Emergency room and had a little baby girl that got run over by a mower that was backing up and ran over her leg. Really really bad scene, lost a limb and had to live with it because of that reason. I feel for the family because it was a total accident. No one knew the child was outside. I use to want to do that to my mower but now have to say there is hardly a time that I don't back up on my mower that I don't think about this child. My kids are grown and have no children but you never know. Could be a child, a pet or something. Not worth it.

Did you put a cut off valve on the gas line? I did cut the pin off and it fixed the problem. My gas line have a cut off valve and apparently the valve is leaking cause I just put over a quart of none ethanol gas. The next day I have gas inside the engine oil and a flooded carburetor. So I am going to remove the line from the carburator and put some gas in tank and a container. If the container fill with gas. That means that cut off valve is defective.

@@moto-fl3rd Common problem on these is for the choke cable to be improperly set from the factory. Works for maybe the 1st season without any choke at all (even tho you think you are engaging it) because the motor is so brand-new perfect, but with normal wear needs real choke. 30-second fix. Loosen & readjust choke cable at that 1 screw that holds the middle of the choke cable to the side of the motor. Check at the end of the choke cable where it comes to the motor that the cable is actually pushing the lever as far forward as it can go... so the choke is really being engaged. No more starting fluid needed.

Fuel valve should be right by the Carb or on the fuel line leading to it. It should be red. You might also have the same problem with the part in question in my video. It may be stuck closed. Your warranty would mean you would have to return the mower to where you bought it, in my case lowes, and they will send it out to be fixed. Or you might have to have a small engine shop look at it.

Hey, I'm back! I can't get the Selenoid to come off! Can you give me some advice on that?

My YTH has to crank and crank with the choke on, even on really hot days, before it will finally start. Wouldn't doubt if it's related to this "feature".

I replaced the part to no avail and it costs $81 however I can't find my old one to cut the tip like you suggest. Do you suggest cutting the new one? I also cleaned the carburator and it wants to run if I add the some gas throught the air filter intake. Great video!

If the new one doesnt work you may have a short in the circuit, But if you like you can cut the new one if you can not send it back. I hope it helps

It's crazy the prices on parts, I just had our JD worked on, it needed an injector pump, 3 injectors, and a fuel line. $4500. the pump $2000, injectors $259 ea.
