In this episode, Yuki is learning how to swim in a beautiful lake located in Hannover, Germany. This lake is a great place for dog owners because it has a wide dog-friendly beach. It's perfect for large dog breeds like the Japanese Akita. All dog owners had a lot of fun with their dogs!

Maybe if the water is warmer and you both go and sit in the water at the head level he will come to play with you? I am baffled because it's the first time in my life I see a dog as afraid of swimming as a human..

Did you make any progress with Yuki swimming? The shiba inu doesnt like bathing. In some places they have dog swimming pools where you can go in with them, hold them up, warm water, ramp to get out easily. Luki is so precious. Thank you for your videos.

Haha love it! my akita does the same; walks till water touches his stomach... aaand shake shake! Obviously he can swim if someone carrys him into deeper water... but then he only swims back to the beach. :D basic akita.. throw whatever u want, they ain`t going to fetch, not if there`s water ahead...

underneath that Akita dogs don't swim. Akira dogs were bred for bear hunting purpose in mountain forests originally in Akita prefecture, but if you show him your swimming in a hot day, and if he gets used to play in water shore, he might want to try. You should show him first swimming is fun. I think it would be like teaching children. First Yuuki should get used to play in shore with a ball or a toy. Not in water from the beginning. がんばってね!

Is he aggressive towards other dogs? Bc my akita wants to show his dominance to like ALMOST every dog,to some he’s nice and wants to play and btw my akita doesn’t want to swim either whenever water touches his booty he runs out of the water lmao
Txtspeak i have a japanese when he was small he was w other dogs and he’d walk without a leash and when he was like 7 months old he started barking at other dogs like he started being really aggressive but not to every dog to some hes nice(mostly female dogs and dogs hes known since they were puppies)and plays with them but some he wants to tear apart like deadass

@@okiswhateverlol It's actually pretty common for him to become aggressive towards other dogs, (especially same sex) when he hits the 7-8 month mark. You just have to take him to puppy school and socialise him with a professional trainer. It can get pretty dangerous if you don't nip that behaviour in the bud, now.

Beautiful dog... amazing video quality.... I love your work, but maybe the 2 minute opening theme and the 2 minute ending theme are a bit much. For the record, you got your Akita deeper into the water than I've gotten either of mine.

They're generally not great around other dogs- that's probably why they kept him on the lead

I think Yuki wasn't all too into swimming because Akitas supposedly sink if they swim anything but a short distance, because all that fluff becomes heavy when wet?
That's true! Akitas don't like to swim because they are nordic breeds, which means that they have a very thick fur coat and thus would drown if they tried to swim.

Yes, Akitas are a little bit bigger and heavier than German Shepherds.

Yes, he grew up with some cats in our neighborhood when he was a puppy 😉
Könnt Ihr Yuki frei laufen lassen? Ich habe auch einen Akita, der bis zum 4. Lebensjahr in Japan lebte und dann zu mir nach Amsterdam kam. Er ist ein bildschöner Schatz und macht eigentlich nichts verkehrt. Er hat einen 2 meter langen Stammbaum ( aus Japan ) und er liebt mich heiss und innig und überschüttet mich mit nassen Küssen. Aber wenn ich ihn einen Augenblick draussen frei laufen lasse rennt er kilometerweit voraus ueber die Deiche ( ich wohne am Meer ) und schaut regelmäßig zurück wo ich bleibe mit einem Ausdruck von : " Hehehe ! Catch me if you can ". Aber zurueckkommen gibt's bei ihm nur dann, wenn er dazu Lust hat oder er sich ausgetobt hat. Typisch Akita eigentlich. Habt ihr einen Trick wie ich ihm beibringen seine Ohren nicht immer auf Durchzug zu stellen? Ich finde seinen starken Karakter natürlich prima aber manchmal könnte er auch ein bisschen auf mich hoeren. ;-) ;-)

Am besten eignet sich eine lange Schleppleine, die du anfangs auf ca. 5 Meter ausrollst und dann deinen Akita manchmal abrufst mit einer großen Belohnung. Je nachdem wie erfolgreich ihr seid, kannst du die Schleppleine dann immer verlängern. Der Vorteil ist, dass die lange Leine beim Laufen nicht stört und du jederzeit auf die Leine drauftreten kannst. Der Nachteil ist, dass die Leine dreckig wird und manchmal irgendwo hängen bleiben kann 🙂
@@AkitaYuki Super ! Danke fuer das schnelle Feedback. Ich habe eine 10 meter ( ! ) lange selbst auf/abrollende Leine. Damit kommen wir gut klar, ohne dass er sie zwischen die Läufe bekommt. Ich werde mal versuchen ihn mit Schleppleine frei zu lassen. Mit Leckerli kann ich ihn übrigens nicht beeindrucken, wenn er sich selbständig macht. Mit freilassen muss ich hier sehr aufpassen, da hier viele freilaufende, brutale Kampfhunde rumlaufen. Wenn er weit vorausläuft kann ich nicht rechtzeitig eingreifen, wenn er angegriffen wird. Das hatte schon mehrmals blutige Folgen. Mein Akita ist extrem friedlich und tut keiner Fliege was zu Leide. Aber viele Hunde fühlen sich von ihm provoziert, obwohl er andere total ignoriert. Da muss man hier ganz schoen auf dem Sprung sein. Daher meine Vorsicht mit frei laufen lassen.
Noch eine Frage . Kommt Yuki zufällig vom Züchter Jr Matsunaga in Japan? Meiner heisst " Awa Tenjin Go " und kommt von Matsunaga . Yuki hat ziemliche Ähnlichkeit mit meinem Tenjin. Vielleicht haben sie gemeinsame Vorfahren ;-) ;-)) Groetjes uit Amsterdam

I got Yuki from an Akita breeder in Germany called 'Tokushuna Kirei'.
