Great to see the fund raising going above and beyond what you were hoping to achieve 🙏💐
I say i'm Argentine
"I once ate a groomer with some fava beans and a cold bowl of fresh spring water."
I was thinking the same thing!
😂
"Grrrrr" instead of a hiss.
😂
Beat me to it XD Perfect.
The muzzle makes him look really intimidating, but he's really just a big, grumpy, dramatic baby. 😆
well when your ability to bite is taken away that's all you've got
@@max_coast Not always true. A lot of muzzled dogs who are reactive keep snapping and trying to bite with the muzzle on.
When the muzzle comes off and he has that big fluffy face, adorable!
Akita's moody buggers, very some, time, ish (as one word) as we say.
They like, what/who they like, when they like it.
They can be pushed and moulded, but only so far.
Akita's usually have a good vocal range and can talk a lot, this chap seems to have a range of 'no' only though :)
Hannibal Lector muzzle
He doesn't look like he'd intentionally be aggressive, he just sounds so scared. Lord knows with an unknown past too. He's so fluffy and pretty at the end.
Probably never ever been groomed.
I love how you balance working within a dog’s limits with teaching them gently that nothing BAD is going to happen here, but stuff has to get done and it’s over when you say so.
When the water got on his paw.. Oh such a dramatic boy! So cute!
And then holding it up offendedly for so long
... just keep that 'cute' muzzle on !
😆
His little raised paw made me go NOOOOOO 😭❤
That wasn't water, clearly it must've been lava! The horror!
Please the sound broke my heart! If it was me I’d have let him get away with no baths 😂
I dont like it when my socks get wet either, so I can't blame him for being so dramatic 😂
Getting my socks wet turns me into a dramatic human being too 😂
Agreed! Wet socks are the worst.
@@snowvalkyrieCold wet socks suck even more🥶
😂 Seriously the best comparison in the world!
My day is *OVER* when I step unsuspectingly into a puddle and water seeps into my shoes and wets my socks. That feeling of wet socks against my poor feet and toes is just horrid. I shudder just thinking about it. 😭
Japanese Akitas and Shiba Inus are difficult dogs to rehome … they are very independent, loyal, and they NEVER forget! Many, MANY props and congrats to someone taking the time and putting in the effort to make this stunning boho a new, happy home. And many props to YOU, Vanessa, for keeping him calm and working with him to make his first groom a decent memory.
Loved the side eye you got when he finished his treat to let you know that did NOT erase your crimes against him! 😂
It's difficult when there is no history on the dog. Poor guy. Thank you for your kindness and caring Vanessa.
yeah, that's why i wish shelters would put in the time and effort to get to know the dogs, especially the ones capable of doing such serious damage
I think a lot of it is the nature of the breed. They were bred to hunt bears so they had to be pretty fierce.
@@elliot_ratgiven the number of animals that get dumped on them, many in awful physical and mental shape, along with the lack of resources they typically have, it's incredible the work that most shelters do.
Akitas are just like that. They need extensive socialization and even then you have to keep a watchful eye on them. They're a primitive dog breed, them and shiba inu are the most recent dog breeds to offshoot from wolves. Hence, they're more "catlike" than other dog breeds. Wolves don't act like dogs do, they're agile, clean, and independent (of humans).
Folks that have a pet with this type of bad attitude should seek professional help. If unable to afford it the internet is full of tutorials made by dog obedience experts. Yogi has the propensity to attack and bite someone. He could be trained to be a sweetheart. Good luck to Yogi's hoomans. 🐶
I couldn't help but laugh when he stood there with one paw in the air because it got wet, as he was being soaked and soaped down!
Right 😂
That! Just the absolute "Uugh, it's so _icky!"_ in that single bit of body language, like he just couldn't stand to have that awful _water_ anywhere near his little feetsies.
LOL what a diva!!
Three wet paws are better than four!
The anti-bite muzzle combined with the worried puppy grunts absolutely sent me
He may be a Japanese Akita but he sure has the Husky braincell with all that drama! What a handsome, ridiculous boy. You did great with him, Vanessa.
My husband an I have about 30 years of experience working with "dangerous" dogs. It turns out that we've actually met very few dangerous dogs. We have met dogs who are showing fear aggression and what typically helps is desensitization training. The more he goes to the groomer and the veterinarians office and has positive experiences the less he will fear these spaces. Thank you for taking him on, most would have probably denied grooming . It's people like you that will help this very handsome fella.
I was scrolling for a comment like this! In my experience, Akita aggression typically comes from defensive and protective behaviour, but this was such clear fear aggression. Poor guy must’ve been through some rough times, good on his new family for giving him a second chance
There are no bad children. Just bad parents.
He is absolutely gorgeous
@@spikethepichu3445 Yeah. A lot of people use water as a disciplinary tool. So the dog fears it.
Yeah. That's what I kept saying when mastiff attacked and killed a spaniel about a block away from where I used to live. Just a misunderstood dog. /sarcasm.
"Akita Inu With An Attitude Problem" So, just a regular akita inu :D
That was my first thought as well
Is he an Inu? He looks like an American Akita
@@MrBstern He's definitely an Inu
'Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?"
@@MrBstern It’s a brindle coloured Akita Inu. Probably the most uncommon colour for the Japanese branch but still acceptable. You can see when she takes the muzzle off that his snout is white and longer compared to the shorter and dark American Akita snout.
Sometimes all we need is Vanessa telling us that we are good boys/girls and everything is alright 😞
Worst comment of the day. Just lie to people who are snakes 🐍 right?
And I'm proud on your behalf for how you handled such an unpredictable, unknown, powerful dog on his first ever groom! Outstanding!
Yogi does a great impression of a mix between a race car and a power drill 😂🤣
Hahaha spot on
😅
And a bit of husky thrown in 😂
@@evilpompom For good measure. ;)
Lol, his little glare after the treats like "yeah yeah human, I guess you're not too bad".
I thought almost the same. "Well, ok, that wasn't ALL that bad I guess..."
I just saw a lot of side eye.
At the end I could see him thinking "The evil one that controls water, is not so bad as a food giver... A few more treats and I could be temped to change my view of you."
That was the most intolerant side eye ever. It wasn't accidental either. Multiple side eyes. He was praying on ur downfall all the way lol
i read it as "yeah yeah, could have given me treats first. i won't have bitten you then pfft."
Thank you for your kindness and love and patience with the beautiful Yogi ❤ He is a choir all by himself
What a big whiny baby! I’m happy he did so well! He looked very sharp afterwards!❤❤❤
I love his new owners for rescuing him.Every dog deserves a good home,it's the least we can do when they give us so much.Well done Vanessa.
Always brave to rescue an akita.
He looks like an angry bear. A good boy but still an angry bear
He made star wars emergency sounds
Did that just as I read your comment 😂😂
For a first groom, he did remarkably well. He wasn’t happy, but he never full-on lunged. You talking probably actually helped. You were soft and reassuring and respectful. The difference the right approach makes is so satisfying. Given the right situation, 99% of “difficult” dogs can be successfully groomed and treated by professionals or even owners. Even some of the 1% can have a “comfort” groom if needs must. Woof woof! 🐕
It was surprising to see such a sweet face behind the muzzle. But you have to be careful! I'm glad this bath and brush went so well!
Indeed, a fine & brave woman she must be.
The side eye he gave you when you called him a good boy 😃I think he wanted to hear “great man”!
These sweet, scared babies always make me cry. So glad Vanessa takes the time to make them feel safe.
I have an aunt that adopted a rescue Akita several years ago. He had behavioral problems and my uncle wasn't going to let him stay. My aunt sat the dog down and told him if he didn't improve it was back to the shelter. That dog turned into one of the best animals ever! R.I.P. James
The paw held up the whole bath because it was the first thing assaulted with water 😂
He did good, poor guy, and you did well too V!
I love how he holds one paw up in the tub, like "How dare this water touch my precious feet!"
From the thumbnail, I'm thinking you have found Hannibal Lecter's dog. Then he let out that pitiful moan when the blow dryer came on.❤ Now I'm watching and talking baby talk to the screen to comfort the big baby!😂❤
Aww, poor guy. You did a great job and were so patient with him.
Thank you for understanding that he was extremely scared, not vicious.
He's so handsome, what a beautiful coat!
Aw that was his first groom! What a good boy ❤
"Which means giving him a lot of freedom and getting my steps in." 😂
What a beautiful, big baby boi who likes to show us the paw. ❤
Of course, I sympathize with his distress, but also I enjoyed listening to him communicating with you. 😂 Considering that this was his first ever groom and he has shown some behavioral issues in the past, today was quite an accomplishment!!! Good job, Vanessa and Yogi. ❤
The fact you were able to bath the four-legged Bane is impressive.
I love him. I thought he was gonna have an old face but I was surprised when you took his muzzle off. He’s beautiful and his side eye 😂
This video is the reason why I think you were such an incredible person overall. We don’t know why the dog is scared because nobody knows about his history, but you treat him with compassion and take the entire process slowly so that he is not triggered by something anything.
What an absolutely gorgeous pup!! His coat is beautiful! They are a challenge to socialize .I'm glad he found folks to take him on.
The side eye x 2 towards the end was a definite “you BETTER get that camera OUT OF MY FACE!” 🤣. Great job as always!
He’s so handsome ❤️
The lifting the paw in the bath sent me 😭 one of my childhood dogs Roxy would do that too even in her old age. Like girl had arthritis in her back legs and thought keeping a front paw in the air was gonna keep her dry 😭
I’ve never been this early. He’s SOOO dramatic!!😂🤣
Same😂
Yogi is a beautiful dog, and I think you’re very brave, Vanessa.
the purple captions are wonderful, thank you for adding them!
You are so loving and compassionate to what ever animal that you are grooming ❤️
Thank you
He sounds just like an air raid siren! 😂 Poor guy, so dramatic!! Well done Vanessa!! ❤
You are brave Vanessa. Yogi is such a handsome boy under his "Bane" mask. Beautiful colourings. He did very well in an uncomfortable situation. Good boy Yogi. 👏
He's beautiful. And the captions had me giggling for quite a while. Thanks!
I am always so touched by Vanessa's love, patience and kindness towards the animals she works with, no matter their background, attitude and noise levels 🤭 She just wants them to feel safe, and feeling nice and clean 🥰
when you watching her with poodles and frenchies you think that what a nice job she had but actually it's not an easy task to do daily at all, respect! 🙏🏽
She has had some pretty angery small pups too
Aww. We are so unsure and afraid. The noise scares him. It's okay. Vanessa will take care of you. ❤ The fact that he turned on the other side, while you were drying him, makes me feel like he was trying to help you get him dry.
You’re so amazing and compassionate. You have the ability to gauge the dog’s temperament (minute to minute) and level of fear and accomplish the groom his tolerance. Knowing you could remove muzzle is experience- I held my breath when you did, but trust was established, as he politely took treat!
He’s gorgeous!!! Thank you Vanessa for taking care of him you are an angel ❤❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful boy! Truly a beauty! He is a big baby ❤
Thank you for giving him and other dogs a chance at showing their best side!
What a good boy! I know you hear this all the time, Vanessa, but the way you work with the dog and understand their instincts always makes me marvel. They trust you so implicitly and it's amazing to watch a skidish dog begin to trust. Granted, the sedatives helps him relax too, but your expertise really does shine through.
I'm definitely enjoying the captions/commentaries you've been adding to your clips! 😂
Love how you are so kind to even the difficult and aggressive dogs. Love watching you work. Thanks
He's beautiful. And he hung in there pretty well during the process.
Who knew water was pure battery acid 😂 such a drama king❤
You were so wonderful with him! So kind and patient getting him used to grooming.😊
I love how you ease the dogs into everything. It can be so stressful for them when they have no idea what's happening. You are amazing ❤
He did hold upto the Akita reaction to the blowdryer. That seems to freak them out less than other difficult dogs even in this boy. He was not fighting it.
That side-eye he gave the camera at the end was hilarious! It was as if he was saying, "Yeah, it was okay I guess. I didn't die."
You are so good with the dogs…. They always end up, trusting you you make them feel really safe you’re amazing
What a great example of your experience that let your groom the unknown pup. He did well with your calm demeanor!💕💕
Yogi Bear is a name that suits him so well 😭
He was a sweetheart for sure for iy being first time!! Way to go yogi!!
What an amazing pup! Vanessa you are so wonderful to these fur babies!
You are absolutely AMAZING Vanessa!
Yogi looked like he was giving you a dirty look after you took the muzzle off. 😂 Great groom Vanessa! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yogi Bear is so sweet and he is a gentle giant. I just want to hug the cuddly boy. 💜🐶
I have a japanese akita and he's the sweetest. It melts my heart to see you working in dogs even tho they can be difficult, but even more in akitas. Thank you❤
His face was so fluffy under the muzzle! So glad he was good during the groom, he seems like a good dog and the new owners are awesome to take him in😊
Yogi trying to give the Huskies a run for their money😂
Oh my goodness. The little whimpers lol.
I love how reassuring your voice sounds ! Good job :)
What beautiful colors on this baby's fur. He's gorgeous. 😊
Wow, master of the side-eye there. Vanessa, you are brave ❤
Isn't this the same breed of dog who waited every day at a Japanese train station for almost for his master to return after his master died of a heart attack on the train? And a memorial is displayed of the dog who waited every day until the dog died in front of the station?😢
Yep, Hachiko!
I don't know who edited the phrase heart attack to heart attach but come on.
I adore Akitas, but boy they take work! So much training and socialising is needed. Thank you for realising his reaction is fear based.
He did so well. He seemed much more inclined to complain than lash out. As always, you did such a good job and were so patient with him. Great video!
He has the most beautiful coat! Vanessa, you're a saint!
Beautiful boy! He did well and so did you!
What beautiful colors this grumpy man has.
He tried ❤
You're so good with each little animal soul. Thank you. Sending love ❤🐾😊
Thank you for working with him!
Are we sure he isn't mixed with a husky? Those were some husky level dramatics! He is so vocal, but it seems as long as you aren't restraining him or causing any pain, he doesn't do more than complain. Certified good boy.
WELL DONE! I was nervous for you but you as always are amazing with animals!
His colourings are spectacular! ❤
I love these new subtitles 😂
You are a brave lady! And so appreciated!
He’s so beautiful. You always do so good with these rescues.
Lit a candle for you for this one 😵💫
🤣😂👍
He is big and fluffy
I find it very caring of you to think of your safety while also thinking about the wellbeing of the dog; if I ever manage to understand what I want to do with my life, and if it has anything to do with grooming or dogs, I'll try to keep both me and the animal in mind as well. You're an inspiration.
He was so scared. Such a gorgeous boy❤❤❤ youre always so gentle and wonderful with these sweet babies.
Such a good brave boy ❤
what a big baby! hysterical!!!
Yogi Bear was soooooooo adorable. He did so well for first groom. Thanks Vanessa for providing it ❤😊
I 💜 Akitas
