I think it's very important that parents teach their children how to approach a dog and it's a change I'm seeing happening in real time in my area. My dog is kind of fearful but not aggressive and she's not used to kids, but I can read her bodylanguage pretty well, so if a child asks if they can pet her and Coco doesn't actively shy away from them, I say "of course you can and I'll show you how best to pet her". Most dogs don't enjoy being petted directly on their head or a hand coming down from above, so I do my best to teach any kid who wants to talk to my dogs on how best to approach a strange dog. 🤣🤣
He had no problems with telling you what he thought about you grooming him 🤷♀️🤦♀️
You are so good with the animals Vanessa.
I absolutely love your captions of Aki's thoughts! 😂
You got him cornered in the shower. 😂
He’s very cute. I love how his ears move forward when he’s upset!
Vanessa is very, VERY brave. God bless her and keep her and her wonderful family.. ❤️
Love the captioning. It's spot on.
I give you a big medal with how you are so patient with this dog!
You are so patient! He’s so beautiful…I mean handsome!
thus the importance of socializing your dog as much as you can. Bravo to you for doing the best you can... perhaps next time he will be better.
Japanese dogs don't socialize. They're bred as hunting and guard dogs for thousands of years, and they only obey the master. They don't need grooming either. They need exercise and fish.
yep, but a number of breeds will always be more or less guarded and aloof around strangers. Therefore the owners must make precautions.
I’m glad you where able to make it out of there with out a scratch
That’s my purse! I don’t know you!! 😂
*proceeds to kick in the nuts*
Absolutely adore that King of the Hill reference that's my favorite 😍
Akitas remind me of the story of Hachiko the loyal dog. Literally cried watching Hachiko.
Was that the dog who came to visit his owner at the train station even after the owner died?
So did I. It was so sad.
Oh that’s because Hachiko was an akita
@@LeGheyTrashI thought he was a shibu inu
@@1faithchick7I looked it up, says akita
My German Shepherd x Cattle dog is the same way. I think Heelers have a little of that Raw feral dog in them like Akita.
If I ASK him "can I pet you?" he will very loudly say No! but if I am assertive and just do it, he settles down and does it.
You make something that would be scary look so easy, your work is amazing, Hope nobody takes it for granted
There are good reasons why spiked collars are illegal to use in some countries.
The prong collar though 😢
Such a cute but challenging customer~😅
Thank you for sharing this video~🤗
As always you did such a great job bringing as much physical comfort as you could without compromising emotional comfort. I'd be nervous bringing a reactive dog to the groomer's, unless it's you!!
“No touchies, NO TOUCHIES!!” 😂
He's a tough one to work with, but you got him through at least a bath and blow dry. That's an achievement with this one.
I love their loyal temperament but theyre so standoffish to other people outside their family lol
Aki is adorable ❤ I love the captions. You did great with this feisty fox. 🐶🦊
I definitely agree with other comments about the blow dryer and the beekeeper hat. He did not like the hat (maybe because he couldn't see you clearly). Great job respecting his boundaries. Giant kudos to the owners for knowing his boundaries and letting you know ahead of time. I hope Aki becomes one of your regulars because a new groomer is going to stress the poor guy out. (I'd also love to see his transformation where he starts to trust you more)
In true Akita form, “do not touch me, but offer me your hand with food in it and I’m fine.”
