I'm STILL listening, bruh! - Marty Graw, Elysian Fields United Methodist Church(..I live in S.F. now and am going back to music school soon . I used to be Austin's student at World of Strings. )
Mine and my wife's 1st date was to your record signing concert at like St Mary's something like that. People were yelling play Zeppelin play Rush. I yelled play Zebra!! You looked at me and smiled and played Tell me what you want. 33 years later. My wife and I still keep listening. Thank You Randy Felix and Guy!! You guys Rocked it and still do
Awesome band 1984 got married at 18yrs old lasted 8yrs bad divorce an all that but this song lives on in my heart an soul and fover on til I die thank you for post it im a ,truck driver an right now my eyes are balling out bad it all good thank you again keep on rocking ZEBRA
probably the most underrated band I've ever heard.. true musicians and honest music.. if you guys ever get tired of playing in the south, come up to the Midwest.. you've got a few fans up here too!
I saw Zebra At Hammerheads in Strong Island New York. This Band was totally Under rated. I mean come on listen to this shit Rock at its Finest!!! From A fellow musician.
Randy and I have met on several occasions. He may know my face but probably wouldn't know my name. He doesn't know how much of an influence he is on me as a singer... I'd practice Zebra songs in my car along with the Live album back in the day. Now I have all those notes. I have done a lot of professional theater (National, European tours) and have been in several bands. Had the privelege to see Zebra play the Paramount and BB Kings recently. They're still so good it brings a tear to my eye.
Never forget Randy running with me across the New Paltz campus to do a "radio interview" on our college station. Nicest, coolest, humblest guy. Was thrilled in 1989 when he played guitar in Jefferson Airplane's reunion tour. He was a huge influence on my life. Always thinking of you guys.
discovered this video two days ago, ive watched it at least 20 times. i love how Randy sings a line and then looks around and smiles. I dont know why, but it makes me happy. I dig your style man.
This song and Band is in my top 10 of all time. They saved Rock & Roll for a time when Madonna and Michael Jackson were being crammed down the worlds throat on the Video and Radio Stations. And for that I'm forever greatful. Wish they would make it to Tulsa. Thanks for the Great Post.
i bought this on LP when it came out.i was a teenager.loved it then and still love it today.thanks ZEBRA for bringing back great memories with your awesome music......
Think I was 16 when I first saw Zebra. Would go with my childhood best friend Jon. I've seen them a couple of times these past few years in NYC with Jon. I'm 44 now, and loved it as much now as I did then. This band has added to the joy that is my life. For that, I have great appreciation and gratitude. Thanks guys. Phil
I love this stuff. Zebra happened when i was 16 years old. (And so the left-handed cigs were new.) It was summer. Like most 16 year olds I was into rock and roll. We tripped on his voice and the lyrics.
talk about defying time! It's incredible that these guys can still do this live. this gave me chills. Damn, I love these guys. I just wish the public would realize what a treasure they are! Kudos, kudos and more kudos!
The last time I seen this band play "Live" was at a bar in Houston Texas called "Rockers" back in 1981 or 82. Seen them play there several times. They were; and still are 5 Star Awesome! I got all there CD's and DVD too. Rock On Randy!
Just goes to show that good music will stand the test of time. You guys sound just as good as you did when I saw you open up for REO Speedwagon in Gulfport, Ms. back in the 80's. Still listen to you now. Great music, remember the drum solo when he started throwing sticks out to the crowd while playing a double bass riff. Wicked cool still to this day. Erick
I remember seeing them in 83 --in a small college theater. My boyfriend drug me to it ---I had no idea who they were --and man I loved it!! They were AMAZING!! We bought the album after that and played it over and over and over. What a great talented group.
Right on ZB, Right on. Whatta great song! And great vocal, love hearing you able to still knock it out of the park. Keep on beltin' it out man, use it 'n you'll never lose it!
The President trips were some of the best nights ever of my formative years. Early on when the boat came back to N.O. from St. Louis and the live band trips up and down the river started, they were kind of lax on what you could get away with. The drinking age in N.O. back then was still 18 but I started making those trips when I was just 17. I had a fake I.D. but as I recall early on I didn't have to even use it. We weren't carded when the trips first began. Even though I was young enough that it wasn't obvious that I was 18, one could step up to the bar and get served without a bartender even blinking an eye. The boat was so crowded and packed that the bartenders were running non-stop just to keep up with drink orders. A 5 year old probably could have gotten a drink. Later security got tighter and we were carded but by then I was already 18. I remember many times going on the top deck to smoke a joint with my buddies. We would get ripped on those trips. We would meet up with other friends and get a large table with 20-25 of us and proceed to get drunk and stoned. I met lots of girls on the President and actually became a member of "The River One Club" as we called it. Before they put lots of security on the boat limiting where you could go, there were lots of secluded spaces you could find to do what you wanted in relative privacy. I'm sure you can guess what "The River One Club" was. Later they ended up posting a few security officers on the top deck putting an end to our smoking activities. They were watching everyone that came up top pretty closely. They also limited where you could go on the boat and off limit areas that previously we had been able to sneak to were now off limits. There was security everywhere you turned. They eventually hired a couple of N.O.P.D. officers for details and sometimes had to put the brig to use. Arrests were made on the boat and were not processed until after the boat had docked and the trips were over. It was still nice to go up top and see the MR bridge as we sailed underneath. The President didn't travel very far up or down river. Just enough to get away from the dock and let people enjoy the sensation of actually cruising on the riverboat and seeing the big paddle wheels turn. As I said, the riverboat trips on the President on a Friday or Saturday night remain some of the best memories of my youth when I was between the ages of 17 and 19. Those were the days.
Yo, you guys still rock and I am still a fan. You played my back to school dance at Jesuit in '76 (I think). Randy went to JFK with my sis. And a couple years ago my son got hooked on Zebra thru Dream Theater.
He is playing in open "G" from the first string "High E" = DAGDGD... Same tuning for Led Zepplins Rain song.. he documented his composure of this song was when he was trying to figure out the rain song fyi
