Yes it was truly unbelievable to see them live... Randy's voice live sounded almost identical to the studio album versions... Super talented very nice in humble gentleman indeed. 😁👍👍... I also remember seeing them dozens of time in New Jersey I would always run side stage when guy gelso was drumming, you could see the wood chips flying off of his sticks.. and when Felix broke out the Rickenbacker, man that was one of the best bass guitars I've ever heard.. sorry about that Les claypool and getty lee
one of the most talented and underrated band i have going to see them for fourth years and can’t believe they still sound so good and guy is an amazing drummer can’t get over the fact that we are in our 60s and 70s randy is one of the greatest guitarists ever got to see this band ❤😊
This is a great video! I’m 62 now and was waiting in 20 degree weather back in 1979 at 17 to see Randy, Guy and Felix in Bayshore NY at Solomon Grundy’s. The memories of that time epic to me. Thanx for posting.
Thank you! I love to hear from folks who saw Zebra "back in the day"! I still prefer the Workshoppe Demo version of "Who's Behind the Door" and "Take Your Fingers". Lots of lucky folks on Long Island heard some GREAT stuff by the band on WLIR as early as 1978. Amazing. Take care!
Oh hell yeah , I’m 62 as well ! Where’d the time go ? Nothing like seeing 3 sets at Speaks in Island Park , Hammerheads , Beggars Opera… I remember the show at Nassau Coliseum when they opened for Aerosmith !! I still have some incredible pics they signed for me back in the day … miss those days !
Randy and his Family now live around Long Island. He is still making music. He didn't lose his New Orleans accent. Anyone that still says New Awlins like the rest of us has it down pat.😀
I liked a lot of these songs. Proggy stuff mixed with some real rootsy bits and a Pinch of New Orleans for good measure. And workin' hard on stage, which I love!
Never forget it. Valentine's evening, February 14, 1984, Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, Utah. Zebra, opening act for Sammy Hagar. To that point I had never heard of Zebra. As clear as it was to this day, I remember us hustling to find our seats as Zebra opened with "When you get there." I was tuned into the entire show. Next day, I went and bought every Zebra Cassette tape the old Toad Tape had available. Such a phenomenal band! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to recognize this band and put them in.
i agree with the greatness but the rrhof can suck an egg.i dont think some of the best rockers wanna be in a org that has hip hop artists.just sayin rap aint r&r is all
Thanks for the remastering, edits and upload... Excellent setlist for this show to highlight them.💯 Been a fan of Zebra since this album came out... 🔥🎸🔥
I remember seeing these guys playing bars in '79 or so. They did a lot of Zep back then. Had the pleasure of jamming with them a few times. AWESOME DUDES!!
1983. I was leaving where I worked in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and the main rock station at the time, 107.5 WBKM debuted Who’s Behind The Door. Amazing song. Zebra is an incredible band. I was 17 then. 57 now and still love these guys!
Bryan, Outstanding job on making this look and sound so great! Zebra’s debut album and Yes’s 90125 were the soundtracks of my freshman year of college in 1983. I just recently revisited that Yes album, and it holds up as well
Saw them twice in my college years, they put on a great show. They'd cover Zeppelin songs but their own were always far better. Randy Jackson was, is and always will be a Guitar God. And, thank-you for actually deinterlacing properly. So tired of crappy conversions!!
I'd recorded several of these on vhs back when they originally aired (Joe Walsh, Night Ranger, Quiet Riot) but I didn't know Zebra played on it! Sweet!
Wow glad I found this! Seen Zebra at least 12 times since like 84 prolly. This reminds me why they are one of my fav bands ever. Actually got to meet Randy back in the day! Thanks for posting
Such a solid band. Randy is so talented. I thought their Zebra 4 album was absolutely fantastic. Not only do I wish more of their library was on iTunes, but I wish they would put out some new material.
RJ is the greatest front man in music ever. Lead Vocal - his range is off the charts. Rhythm and Lead Guitar - no one plays to his level WHILE singing LEAD. He refused to sell his soul. GOD BLESS ZEBRA
Thanks for posting this. ZEBRA live show nights were abundant back in the 80s. It was a blast. ZEBRA shows were perfect every single show. Ahhh, to be 16 in NOLA again ...
Ashamed to say this is the first time I listened to Zebra, even though I remember seeing their albums in promotional libraries at stations. Atlantic dropped the ball with these guys.
I'm glad you found them! Check out their Atlantic debut and 3.V next but also the Workshoppe Demos from 1978, a few of which are mislabeled on Spotify, etc. as "'83 Rare Studio Versions".
Thanks for putting this together Bryan! Growing up on Long Island in the early 80s, I was a big fan but never saw them live. After 40 years, I finally got to see them last month in Clearwater, reviving my interest in them. I really wanted to see if Randy could still hit the high notes and he didn’t disappoint! They were amazing! Never got the recognition they deserved.
JMP, they waited to be signed by Led Zeps label and were not signed until around 1983. Most of the songs on the 1st album were written in the 70s. Randy Jackson's voice is up at the top and the bands talent is, too.
NAME 1 front man that is or was better than Randy Jackson. Name just 1 just try! RJ is the greatest front man in regards to LEVEL OF EXPERTISE AND TALENT in music fucking history.
I watched a performance from 2022 and I had to tap out on the 1st song. They played extremely well and tight but his god awful falsetto now was terrible.. It's natural to not be able to hit those notes in your late 70s but why not rearrange in a key you can sing in? Hell, people are showing up for a bad vocal performance so they'd still be there for a good vocal performance in a different key
I hear what you say and what you're hearing. Yes, I've also wondered about tuning it down for just sheer mileage on that falsetto by this point! You have to tour to stay vital and make $$$...his acoustic shows seem to highlight a tad mellower vocal approach.
Randys early falsetto voice was so powerful and gritty. Thanks for sharing this absolutely amazing performance 🎉
My pleasure!!
Zebra should have been one of the biggest bands on the planet. 40+ years later the music holds up.
My favorite band. They still sound amazing live. I absolutely love ZEBRA!!!❤
I absolutely agree with you! 😊
A 3 piece band that sounds like 5 people are playing! They are incredibly talented musicians
:)

Saw them at Stonybrook college around this time
4 piece: don't forget the keyboard player
@@digitalchris6681 Felix Hanemann (bass, keyboards, synthesizers and backing vocals)

Man theae guys were on another level !!! Love them still to this day .
This is a great video! I’m 62 now and was waiting in 20 degree weather back in 1979 at 17 to see Randy, Guy and Felix in Bayshore NY at Solomon Grundy’s. The memories of that time epic to me. Thanx for posting.
I'm 61 and a LI kid myself. Solomon Grundy's, Hammerheads, Cheers, & all the rock clubs back in the day. We followed Zebra all over the NE. \m/
Amazing. Take care!

Got to met them and watch them play live again. I’m still staggered by that level of talent and humility
I recorded this concert on Betamax when it first aired. Didn’t think I’d ever see it again. Thank you for sharing!!! Zebra is criminally underrated.
I'm glad you found it again!
I only got to see these guys once. Incredible talent on display. Love me some Zebra. Thanks for sharing this with the world.
Saw them many times at Cheers in North Babylon and Hammerheads .. still play the music at parties at my house !
Incredible band I would put them right up there with Triumph. This guitar player vocalist should be much more heard of
You hit the nail on the head, re: Rik Emmett and Randy Jackson.
Randy and his Family now live around Long Island. He is still making music. He didn't lose his New Orleans accent. Anyone that still says New Awlins like the rest of us has it down pat.😀
I saw this when it first aired. Great band.
I've allways loved the shit out of these guys😊
I liked a lot of these songs. Proggy stuff mixed with some real rootsy bits and a Pinch of New Orleans for good measure. And workin' hard on stage, which I love!
You bet.
His singing is just as good as studio recorded record.
These guys are do good. I really hope that they put out another album before all is said and done. I teally loved their most recent one from 2007.
Agreed about Zebra IV, from '03. What's your favorite track from that one? Thanks for watching and commenting!
Absolute stunning musicianship. How did so many years go by so quickly. 1983 was a great year in music.
Just recently revisited 90125 by Yes. 1983 was indeed a great year

No problem, thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@bryanpiggs313 what @musemuser777 said goes for me as well. Thanks for the effort you put into restoring this performance!
Good ole days!!
I remember seeing these guys playing bars in '79 or so. They did a lot of Zep back then. Had the pleasure of jamming with them a few times. AWESOME DUDES!!
These guys are amazing!! I wish I had known about them back then.
They are just so good!
aaah sooo fun GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!....MUCH LOVE.!!
1983. I was leaving where I worked in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and the main rock station at the time, 107.5 WBKM debuted Who’s Behind The Door. Amazing song. Zebra is an incredible band. I was 17 then. 57 now and still love these guys!

been a fan since the WBAB days -- saw them 3 times in their prime LOVE ZEBRA!!
The Zebra live album CD is awesome. "Said Before" then goes into amazing "She s waiting for you" kills it
Yes, that CD got lost in the hair metal shuffle in my crowd. Randy's vocals on that "She's Waiting For You" are awesome! Thank you!
Wow glad I found this! Seen Zebra at least 12 times since like 84 prolly. This reminds me why they are one of my fav bands ever. Actually got to meet Randy back in the day! Thanks for posting
No problem, thanks for the comment! This is a great performance. I wish they had been invited to play at the US Fest 1983!
Such a solid band. Randy is so talented. I thought their Zebra 4 album was absolutely fantastic.

Incredible band... I first saw them around 1980 at a Long Island club called "Cheers" in North Babylon.
This is when Zebra were badass
"Tell me what you want." Song is great! Thanks for posting. I plan to see them soon. Underrated band for sure.
41 years later and finally plan to see Zebra in Nashville !!
So damm good.
Beatles Wow love it , tell me what you want

Another great 80s power trio.
I hope Rush fans discover this amazing band and Guy Gelso.
Killer . They deserved to be huge. Don’t know why they never got there.
JMP, they waited to be signed by Led Zeps label and were not signed until around 1983. Most of the songs on the 1st album were written in the 70s. Randy Jackson's voice is up at the top and the bands talent is, too.
i remember tye radio in n j playin this whos behind the door and mtv played the video. back vfc when mtv was the shiznit.now prob not
They were my Zeppelin growing up, saw them live in 86 first time
Yes, I thought 3.V was almost as good as their Workshoppe Demos and their debut. Thanks for commenting!
Wasnt aa big fan, but i remember watching this on tv when i was 15 and was one of the first times i was baked out of my mind lol
Good video for the first bake!
I remember watching this original broadcast in '83. Amazing.
Thank you for finding it again!
Wow every now and then I go down a Zebra Rabbit hole and see what’s been dug up. This is amazing.
Thank you! I'm glad you found it and like it.
Other than "Tell Me What You Want",I never really cared for their music, but these guys are absolutely incredibly talented musicians!
Bryan, what a treat! I got to see them in a small bar in Monroe, LA and was blown away. Thank you again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man, I’ve been listening to these guys for the past two days…🤘😁🤘
That was great
I'm glad you liked it!
I don’t care for any of Zebra’s songs. Now, this doesn’t mean that Randy isn’t an extremely talented musician, because he is.
Understandable, as Randy's voice is an acquired taste. I agree about his musicianship. Thanks for commenting!
Who's Behind the Door is a masterpiece
I want it all❤❤❤
I would love for them to release this whole gig officially!
Zebra still fn rocks in 24!
Thank you so much for sharing
Great band straight outta Nola
NAME 1 front man that is or was better than Randy Jackson. Name just 1 just try! RJ is the greatest front man in regards to LEVEL OF EXPERTISE AND TALENT in music fucking history.
I think he and Rik Emmett are in the same category of skill. I love Randy's 12-string!
huh lol Rober Plant was untouchable back in the day
The 21:00 minute area is the best shit I've ever heard, 😂, then Who's behind the Door! 😳
Absolutely! Thanks for the comment!!
They don't sound like a five piece band, the band that title goes to is Rush
Sounds good otherwise
I watched a performance from 2022 and I had to tap out on the 1st song. They played extremely well and tight but his god awful falsetto now was terrible..
