"I gotta prove that I'm not a mistake." That whole scene gets me big time. Then the moment where Rocky tells Adonis that he's a Creed and they say "I love you" to each other...beautiful. And then Adonis gets up for the final round with the Rocky theme music playing...that was a rare and special theater experience. Some were cheering, some were crying (I know I was), and some had huge smiles on their faces. I do know one thing: everyone in that theater felt something in that moment and for a moment we were connected. Magic of cinema.
You know coming from an unplanned pregnancy that really changed the life of my parents since they were really young and my mom's family decided to move to another country (unrelated to my mom getting pregnant) , that line hit waaaay to hard for me .
@@ukiyoideas2215 I admire you sharing that. Moving stuff. I think I kind of understand how you feel and I personally relate to Adonis' line. It's not the same but I was born on the spectrum and with bipolar disorder and there are times I have felt like "a mistake." That I wasn't born right. But there are other times I feel that how I was born, the way I am, and life itself can be seen more as a blessing than a curse.
It was so funny hearing Stallone in a behind the scenes interview talk about during filming when he was in his "Rocky attire" fans would see him and call out "hey rocky!" and when people ask for an autograph they would ask him to sign it Rocky Balboa which of course he did. It just goes to show the impact this character has had on countless of people.
He will always be Rocky Balboa.. period. No matter how many other characters (including John Rambo) he’s portrayed, how many other films he’s made.. he is and will always be Rocky Balboa for all eternity.
Another thing thats cool about that is that real boxers call him champ! The boxer that plays Leo Sporino in the beginning of the movie had a behind the scenes interview and he called Stallone champ a lot haha
@@CasualRicer That's awesome. lol It makes me think about in 'Rocky Balboa' when he fights Dixon at the end, that was a real boxing event and they filmed the fight before the main event started. That's why it feels real because they filmed it as if it were a real sporting event. The crowd was getting into like they were watching a real fight. Stallone was really getting emotional when the crowd started chanting Rocky as he was walking out during the decision. End of an era, you know. 😓🥊
24:43 Rocky's expression kills me. In Rocky's mind, cancer is a death sentence. No question. So his expression is a tiny slump of sadness, resignation and grief. All conveyed in a microsecond. It's the most fantastic acting from Stallone.
Fun fact, the punch that knocked Adonis down near the end of the fight was real. It's a tradition in the Rocky franchise that the main character take one real punch from the movie's main antagonist and that was the real punch. It doesn't help Jordan that the guy playing Conlan is a real professional boxer
Trivia: Portraying Rocky's physical deterioration was a humbling experience for Sylvester Stallone. "When you sit in the chair and you come as one person and then you open your eyes an hour and a half later and you've been transformed to a person who's not healthy... it's very relatable," the 69-year-old said. "This is what people live through every day... it made me definitely realize the clock is ticking."
The thing about the scene at the beginning when he’s watching the Rocky-Apollo fight and shadowboxing is: he’s not shadowboxing AS his father. He’s fighting AGAINST his father. The entire movie is about Adonis reconciling himself with his deceased father, and in this scene, he’s LITERALLY fighting his father’s ghost. It’s a beautiful way to encapsulate the main conflict of the movie without any dialogue or other actors.
What I love about this idea is that towards the end when he's knocked out, what gets him to his feet isn't his family cheering him on, or his friends, or remembering all his struggling to get there, it's a brief clip of Apollo. It's the realization that he's not fighting against Apollo's legacy, he's a part of it. He's a Creed. BOOM, on his feet in an instant.
I was a huge Rocky fan long before Creed came out and I've seen a lot franchises harmed by new entries, so I was terrified that Creed would be the same. Words can't describe the feeling of sitting in the theater, seeing this incredible movie for the first time and realizing that it was a true and worthy successor.
@@Zack_410 I’m pretty young myself, lol. Early twenties. I suppose when I say “long before” it’s relative to my life experience. I’ve always been a big cinephile and first saw the Rocky movies in my early teens, I think. Regardless, Creed is so good that I don’t bat an eye at someone saying it’s their favorite. It’s a damn fine favorite to have.
Highly agree. Watching a studio respect the source material and maintain the energy/feeling of the originals is rare these days. To many writers/directors/producers want to 'modernize' or arrogantly think they can 'do better'. If you could do better, write your own material and sink or swim off that. I was worried about Creed III, due to the issues between Stallone and the suits, but it was actually solid as well. The minute you see Rocky pass the relationship story to Bianca and Adonis (with her at the door) I got teary eyed. Still amazing this IP has the legs it does. Plus, the whole 'prove I'm not a mistake" vs "prove I'm not a bum", yeah, I cried.
"I gotta prove that I'm not a mistake" That tears me up every time, most relatable line in any Rocky movie and it just comes out of nowhere. And yes, the "hugging" is done to get a break, if you do that the opponent can't hit you, he's too occupied holding onto you. You're too close.
When Rocky first came out in1976 it played at a neighborhood theater, with one screen a block from a Jr high school here in San Antonio, the line for that first and almost every showing was down the street around the corner and at least 3 blocks long, the crowd was cheering as if it was a real fight, it was amazing and you are right it has come full circle... AMAZING SERIES
The Oscars have made a lot of mistakes over the years, but passing over Stallone for Best Supporting Actor was one of the most glaring examples. I mean Mark Rylance, who did win, was fine but Stallone created a legendary character and really puts in a great performance here.
@@timothywhitfield8785 honestly I thought creed 2 was pretty close to a masterpiece. Some people will obviously disagree but the story with Drago and his son was just so compelling
Everybody was afraid That this Movie ruins the Perfect Ending Rocky Balboa had for cash reasons while Ryan Googler just Wrote this Movie for his father. When he was Young he would Watch the Rocky Movies over and over with his Dad. Then i was afraid they would destroy it with Creed 2 because they try to Milk this franchise and Ryan googler didnt Wrote it but it was amazing too. The Rocky Series lives from its characters and they did a fantastic Job. I‘m still mad Sly didnt got the oscar and M.B.Jordan wasnt Even nominated.
When they first announced this, I was skeptical, particularly as it was hard for me to picture a better ending than the one Rocky Balboa had. To my pleasant surprise, this ended up being one of the best films of the franchise.
I personally think Rocky I, II, III and Rocky Balboa are better. It was a bit too much like the first Rocky and the training montage was awful (The fact that I hate rap and hip hop) didn't help. The girls music was good though.
@@Radwar99 in my opinion cool that you felt that and in turn used the music as your dislike for rap. No win for closed minded people. It’s not the 70s anymore and music has changed and no longer in your world. I don’t even care for rap like that but it fits better than Frank sitantra or eye of the tiger or anything else from back then so be it since it fits the music. Worry about the story and if you don’t like the story comment on that instead of the music moron.
This is probably the best-directed movie of the franchise since the first one. The fight scene that was all done in one long continuous shot was amazing.
2 года назад
Far from being the best directed from the franchise, maybe you meant the best choreographed which it is.
@ no, I mean directed. The first one is the best movie of the series, but the direction was probably the weakest part. Not Avildsen’s fault, it was only his second movie, but the solid screenplay and an All-Star team of character actors elevated it. He won an Oscar, but that seems to lend to the argument that Academy voters were divided pretty evenly between Taxi Driver, Network, and All the President’s Men, leaving Rocky, which was that year’s big crowd pleaser, to get enough of the remaining votes to win. 2 was good, but Stallone was following the directorial playbook of the first one and felt like he leaned into melodrama a few too many times. 3 & 4 were fun movies, but they were cartoons, and Stallone’s ego, which was out of control in the 80s, didn’t help (Ever notice between 2 & 3, Rocky is no longer worried about losing that eye and mows down opponents with ease?) and 5 & 6 are nostalgia trips.
The bit with Donnie and his training partner going from hostility to making peace says a lot about boxing. It’s about channeling one’s aggression in a constructive manner. They got out of hand, which is easy to do, then remembered that this is a martial art and a sport and a job. It’s not personal, and unfocused anger only makes you stupid and slow.
It’s actually like that too, one of my best sparring partners was a best friend of mine and it was never personal or anything. And we’ve probably fought a couple weeks worth of time if you add up all the rounds we sparred after a few years. Channeling your anger is one of the disciplines that sport teaches and it definitely helped me.
The 2nd guy that Creed sparred in the begining, the one who knocked him down, was Andre Ward..largely considered one of the best of all time. In fact every opponent he faced is a real life, ranked pro. The final opponent was Tony Bellew, a former World champion. And yes they clinch to take a rest and prevent themselves from taking more damage at close range.
I love how Rocky tries to use some of Micky's saying, like "women weaken legs". Rocky doesn't say it with the same conviction, since Rocky knows that Adrian was the greatest source of his strength. Rocky's life lessons and life statements are so amazing. Such amazing writing.
Rocky is now Mickey. I think it’s remarkable how through this series we have watched Rocky through his entire life (and Stallone’s career) with the same actor. That’s very rare that film series do that.
One of the small things I love about this movie that just adds so much to the atmosphere was the music. You can hear inspirations from the original series with this great modern sheen to it. BUT....when that OG theme kicks in, it's just a surge to the system. Love it.
Awesome reaction again. CREED is amazing. Michael B Jordan is amazing. He's so good at playing characters with heart who has so many demons on their back. Stallone's lines and wisdom took the movie to the next level. Stallone is so good at making himself vulnerable to the audience. Which is why we love him.
19:29 Yes, when they "hug" each other (called a clinch), it is a defensive move used in boxing to take a rest. In other combat sports it can be used much more offensively but in boxing it is usually used strategically to put a pause on the fight.
14 minutes in and I absolutely love how invested you are, and impressed with all the references and call outs to the previous films you've already made.
I love this movie. It came out a few months after my Mom died. My Dad saw a tv spot for it, and told me he wouldn’t mind seeing it in the theater. He hadn’t seen a movie in the theater in decades. So I took him as soon as it came out. He loved it too, and since we’ve gone to several movies.
This movie helped me lose a hundred pounds over two years. Literally amazing for me to see this new content after rocky changed my life once. Creed did it again
What I love about CREED is the fact that a confident young writer-director came to this series with a profound understanding of and respect for the originals' characters, themes and mythology. He brought his own vision but didn't just arbitrarily wipe the slate clean. Disney Star Wars could take notes.
@@unknownsword9042 exactly. He Wrote this Movie for his dad who passed and Tried to Convince Sly for 2 years to make That Movie. Although Sly once said That he Wrote Rockys Lines himself. But you can see that this Movies Purpose wasnt to make Tons of Cash it was a love letter to the Franchise
This movie is full of great moments, but my favourite will always be when Donny gets knocked down and it looks like he's finished, he's flashing back to everyone in his life, them all cheering him on, all the struggling to get here, but he's still out. Then it just cuts to a brief clip of his father Apollo in the ring, and BOOM, he gets to his feet in an instant. That's the Creed in him showing up baby!
"Creed" and "Black Panther" were directed by Ryan Coogler. Ryan Coogler also directed Michael B. Jordan in "Fruitvale Station"". Excellent movie! I'm not just saying that because it takes place in Oakland, where I'm from. You should definitely react to "Fruitvale Station"!
I think a dreadfully overlooked and absolutely fantastic aspect of this movie is the montage of Donnie training, and Rocky getting Chemo. Donnie comes into the movie strong and fresh, where he meets Rocky as he's aging out. And then we see this montage where Donnie gets even stronger, better, while Rocky's fight drains him and tears him up. The juxtaposition is amazing, and that whole sequence just doesn't get enough credit.
Its all about, we have fights that we HAVE to fight. Rocky is so sad and feels he has nothing he opts out of treatment because as he said "everyone i knew has moved on. But iam still here" he has nothing to fight for. Two men from vastly different backgrounds building each other up because.....fighters fight. And they both shared the same grief over Apollo. Rocky believing he caused his death, and Adonis blaming Apollo for dying. They both needed to forgive.
Creed 2 is great as well! I love that both of you have enjoyed the Rocky series it’s one of my absolute favorites! Thanks for the fresh reactions to some great old favorites!
The first "Rocky" was *inspired* by a true Story: In 1975, boxer Chuck Wepner went up againt then-heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali and, despite being severely outmatched, just fell seconds short of going the full fifteen rounds. Stallone watched the fight on TV and then wrote the Script for "Rocky".
I'm pretty sure he was knocked out in the 14th round. Initially it looked as though he knocked Ali down in an earlier round, but Ali just fell moving backwards because Wepner was standing on his foot. But, yes, this did give Stallone the idea for Rocky.
Creed is a surprisingly good, solid movie - This is the 7th movie of a franchise, and they managed to renew the formula while keeping the basics there. I don't think any other saga managed that
I remember going into this dreading a cash grab, and stepping out of the theatre absolutely floored. With the improvements to the choreography/camera work this is arguably the best boxing movie of all time.
This movie has one of my favorite sequences ever. From the time Rocky is giving the pre fight pep talk to Adonis dancing in the ring is one continuous shot and it belongs in a master class for film making.
Yes the bikes are 100% a philly thing. I think this movie nailed philly and the vibe of the city perfectly! lived here all my life. They didnt do any of the tourist attractions they showed the real struggle and i respect that this movie is authentic!
Rocky had such a great intro. Coming up the stairs grunting and sighing just working hard. Just from that sigh he gives you already know what Rocky's life has been since the last movie. Little did he know he was about to make a new friend and his life would change. Like he said in R2 to Mick: " I gotta be around it"
I remember I commented on your first Rocky reaction because I live in the neighborhood where Rocky lived and were the gym was. Just wanted to let you know that most of the Philly scenes in this were all shot in the same neighborhood. The club where he first sees her is a few blocks from my house and I DJ there and play there with my bands. They rented and shut down the club for about a week to shoot those scenes. We all knew they were filming Creed and couldn’t wait for the movie to come out to see Johnny Brenda’s in the movie. Also, the cycles and four wheelers are a big thing in Philly. And Cassie’s comment about Rocky feeling like a real person because of the statue and how this city celebrates him is 100% accurate!
Seeing someone in the same role decades apart is some of the magic of movies. Also, the original Rocky was very loosely based on a no-name boxer who had a fight with Muhammed Ali
I've absolutely enjoyed (re)watching these movies with you both. I've loved your reactions to every part, the action scenes, the more tender ones, etc... It really was a pleasure. Can't wait for the next one. Oh and congratz on the 200k !! Cheers from France.
If we're just going by films that have "Rocky" in the title, BALBOA is my favorite since the first one, but if we include the CREED movies as part of the series (which I do), I think this is the best one since the original one. You can just see the inspiration contained in his frames. This is a story being told by a director who doesn't just want to make money but who actually wants to tell it, who has something to say, who is personally invested in the characters (and their world), and who is a master craftsman. There is nothing at all jaded or cynical about this film. It has heart and it has balls. This is how you reboot a franchise. I can't wait for you to watch the sequel.
Everytime I watch this movie,it still amazes me how good it is, it's just so well done. If you want another great boxing movie with a great story,I'd recommend Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe.
I just adore Rocky and Donnie's relationship. It's like Rocky kind of gets Apollo back but a little different. Adonis has his father's high confidence and easy charm but also loyalty. Once he's decided you're his, that's it. And Adonis decided Rocky was his after their very first meeting. "Hey Unc!" he says the next time he sees him. And that's it. Rocky is his family now. And he'll cheekily move himself in with him, no problem 😁💛
Rocky is actually based on the story of Chuck Wepner who fought Muhammad Ali and went 15 rounds with him. Chuck lost but his heart won over a lot of fans.
So awesome that you’ve made it this far! So proud of you. It’s been so awesome experiencing this with you. One more to go and you will be caught up!💜💜💜😉then we can experience Creed 3 together
Funny story: During the entire series, everyone who boxed in the films had to take a "real punch" at one point or another. For Rocky 4, Stallone took a punch by Dolph that was so hard he ended up in the hospital for a few days just to be safe. Stallone said it was like being hit by a truck. During filming this movie Jordon took a punch that didn't "knock him out", but it really "rung his bell" and he was dazed for quite a while. What makes this funny is the guy who hit him (The fighter in the end) was told to ONLY go about 10-20%, not all out. Once Jordon got up and shook off the hit, the crew finally accepted him as a part of the "Rocky Family". From that point on, the filming of all the training portions became more "realistic" for Jordon as it had been for Stallone. Which is why they are so wonderful to watch, because they are actually TRAINING and not acting. As far as Creed 2? ABSOLUTELY you should watch it. Personally, I think the story in Creed 2 is actually better for different reasons (NO SPOILERS), but also seem to be more authentic as far as characters should be treated.
I used to watch films with my dad.. he hasn't been well for a decade now and watching films alone kills me.. hence I look out for these reaction channels.. just wanted to thank you guys for reacting to this film.. always wanted to watch it with someone.. thank you. Means alot to me..
That look he gives when he is informed of his health. It's like he was saying I just got something back in my life with Donnie and Bianca and boxing and now this?. Such a good reaction by Sly
Michael B. Jordan has come a long way from the soap opera "All My Children". My mom used to watch that show before the network cancelled it in favor of yet another daytime talk show. I also watched that soap from time to time. Amanda Seyfried was on the show at the same time as him. Jordan was given the role after his future Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman played the role for a week before quitting, refusing to play a racial stereotype, playing a young gang member who gets adopted by the wealthy and white Erica Kane.
Great reaction as always. Been waiting for you both to get to Creed since Rocky 2. And once you see the poster for creed 2 or the dvd cover or iTunes screenshot, or whatever, you will know why there’s a Creed 2. I love it even more than the first!
Just when you think the Rocky franchise is over, Ryan Coogler developed a great story to a franchise he loved. My favorite of the Rocky franchise, because Rocky’s story is phenomenal.
One of my favorite aspects of this movie - and the next one - is the use of the Old-style Rocky music score and the blending of Urban/Hip Hop beats to go along with it. It works really well for setting the atmosphere.
The two guys originally supposed to fight were legit boxers. Pretty Ricky Conlan played by Tony Bellew and Wheeler, guy who beat creed at the beginning in the gym played by all time great Andre Ward.
Yes. When “hugging” it’s to slow the pace. Corner will yell “tie him up” meaning “grab him. Slow him down”. Especially when the opponent has the edge and has you in the ropes
When they “hug” each other that is called a “clinch”. The objective of the clinch is to hold your opponent close to your body so that no one can strike each other. This is to create a momentary pause in the fight which is eventually separated by the referee. These clinches typically take place in later rounds due to fighters trying to conserve or regain stamina but it can be used in early rounds to get out of tough positions and waste as much time off the clock as possible.
Love watching you two going through this series. Great reactions. When you're done with this series if you are feeling up to it watch Cinderella Man with Russel Crowe. Another awesome boxing movie set in the mid 40's based on an actual boxer from then. I think you'd love that movie too. It has a love story in it too ;)
Truly excited for the two of you to see this. I was just rewatching your Rocky I to III reactions and love the innocence and evolution and appreciation you have for a character and movie series I grew up on. Seeing Creed in the theater, hearing those couple piano notes when Rocky is outside Mick's Gym, the fact I knew he had a chair in the tree by Adrianne's grave ... it's a transition movie ... and as a son of divorced parents when Adonis admits at the end: I want to know I'm not a mistake... that sent ripples through me because it put together a thought I've always had but could never sum up into a single phrase ... appreciate the heart you bring to this, you and Carly, it's been an amazing experience sharing moments, old and new, with you.
Oh man, I forgot how good that last round is. When he stands up straight in front of the camera and the music starts playing, it's like lightning shooting through your veins!
Awesome reactions! You two were in it like you were in the corner too. Creed 2 was good! Definitely a worthy sequel in this franchise. Enjoy it! Also I highly recommend Southpaw after this. It isn't apart of it but it's really good!
"If I could take everything that was good and put into a bowl or something, I'd say, 'Hey, here. I'd like to buy one more day with my wife.' I'd do it, and I would die a happy man, right then! Not gonna happen. So...everything I got is moved on, and I'm here...but you know what? It's okay." This is so sad, because we know Rocky is a man that's spent his whole life fighting, and now with all his loved ones gone, the desire to continue fighting is gone too, because it hurts too much. Also, I know it's been obvious, but he has never loved, nor will he ever love, anyone the way he loved Adrian. Stallone should've won the Oscar for this.
I watched the whole series with you guys. Very fun, thanks! My sister had a crush on Sly starting from the original Rocky when it was new, back when her and I were both kids. Watching you guys reminds me of those old times, where this type of movie was NOT her style AT ALL, yet she found Sly so undeniably charming that she was right there in theaters with everyone else, watching the first few Rocky movies when they were released lol. Whatever charisma he was exuding then, obviously still works 50 years later.
When you talked about watching Rocky over the years, and how much you loved it, it immediately made me think how much you two would love the Karate Kid movies and the Cobra Kai TV show. I would absolutely love to see you two react to that series!
Has she watched Raging Bull? Helps to have seen that to fully appreciate DeNiro's being in Grudge Match. Certainly one can still enjoy it, but having all that back story with both actors in huge boxing character study films helps.
My absolute favorite overlooked detail of this movie is how the flag shorts had creed in the front and Johnson on the back. The cameras filming the fight (and thus, the world watching) say Adonis’ chosen name, but the person he’s fighting knows they’re fighting a CREED.
This movie gets to me every time since I saw it shortly after my father died of non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Normally it angers me when they use cancer as a way to emotionally manipulate the audience but I thought it was done in a respectful way. And ultimately it was uplifting because Adonis got Rocky to fight again.
Glad you're watching this and I hope you will be watching the next one (Creed 2) as it will finish the Rocky franchise. What a journey! (For your 90s marathon movies, I would recommend you watch and react to FRIED GREEN TOMATOES, Kiss The Girls, Double Jeopardy, Princess Mononoke, Steel Magnolias, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Joy Luck Club - add more Asian films and dramas)
I agree, great films! Also, after Creed 2, she needs to start add more Asian films. Crouching Tiger and Mononoke are good introduction for them. ShangChi isn't really an Asian film but more of a MCU/Hollywood film. She will be thrilled watching those films.
Yes!!!!!!! Been waiting for you girls to get to Creed. It is such a well done movie. I was shocked at how good it was. Like you said it was the perfect mix of old and new. They paid homage to Rocky while allowing Adonis to build his own story as well. Love seeing your reactions and how much you guys have invested in the Rocky franchise.
"I gotta prove that I'm not a mistake." That whole scene gets me big time. Then the moment where Rocky tells Adonis that he's a Creed and they say "I love you" to each other...beautiful. It’s a damn fine favorite to have.
Nothing wrong with liking creed better IMO. It's amazing. Between creed and original rocky it's like picking which flavor of ice cream to buy
Stallone was like 30 when he was in the first Rocky film. It's crazy how this series still has the same effect across generations of viewers.
Facts.
Creed 2 is probably one of my favorites from the franchise and is really a tear jerker.. can’t wait for that reaction.
isn't that a fantastic film?
Really? I Thought creed 2 was so predictable I fell asleep
@@UAPREALITY it was great..
@@UAPREALITY well, it's predictable yeah, it s a fan service and a nice closure for Rocky.
My recommendations have me on a Rocky run and I have been thinking about this the whole time. I need to search for a reaction right now.
"I gotta prove that I'm not a mistake"
That tears me up every time, most relatable line in any Rocky movie and it just comes out of nowhere.
And yes, the "hugging" is done to get a break, if you do that the opponent can't hit you, he's too occupied holding onto you. You're too close.
Just like when Rocky didn’t want to be seen as a bum
I can’t agree loudly enough!
For what it’s worth, people probably remember that Stallone was nominated more because he didn’t win than if he won and there was no controversy lol
I was in utter shock about how good Creed and Creed II were.
Creed is a masterpiece the second is really good
@@disclaimer.imjokin Creed II wins my #1, but Creed is a close second. Both so epic.
@@jay-1800 Creed 2 actually gives Rocky 4 more depth... I was so amazed by that. The Rocky series is my actual Bible. Love them all.
I love this reaction. The way you can't handle the fight. The way you ducked and moved with them. You guys were great.
@@Radwar99 the training montage was awesome
@@moriellymoproblems7842 To each their own, but the atv's following him was ridiculous as well and again, the music sucked.
@@Radwar99 the bike culture is very Philly so it makes sense.
This is probably the best-directed movie of the franchise since the first one. The fight scene that was all done in one long continuous shot was amazing.
Thanks to Ryan Coogler for directing the first Creed movie.
It also actually happened. Michael B Jordan landed a punch too many and they started fighting. Coogler left it in the movie
Tony bellend got home safe to his wife and kids
@@JOBXR 😂
Love it.
I’m glad you brought up the music, I completely agree!
I cry every time he’s says “I gotta prove that I’m not a mistake” 😭
This movie helped me lose a hundred pounds over two years. Literally amazing for me to see this new content after rocky changed my life once. Creed did it again
That's amazing ☺️
Great job! Proud of you!
Rocky series is cary me for of my life.
right on!!!!
What I love about CREED is the fact that a confident young writer-director came to this series with a profound understanding of and respect for the originals' characters, themes and mythology. He brought his own vision but didn't just arbitrarily wipe the slate clean. Disney Star Wars could take notes.
Apparently, the writer and his father would watch rocky movies together. I think he said he wrote it as a love letter to his dad.
Exactly, Creed 1 & 2 are a Prime Example on how to "pass the torch" in a franchise.
Perfectly said! Agreed
Yes.
Fruitvale Station is a truly great film
Ryan coogler also produced Judas and the black messiah another excellent movie
Ryan Coogler also wrote those films. And yeah, Fruitvale Station is amazing.
@The Dan it’s not really a true story, it’s based on a true story. It’s mostly fiction.
Fruitvale Station hurt me to the CORE, it's such a phenomenal film but goddamn it is absolutely heartbreaking
Welcome back to the Cassie and Carly show. You guys are great. Love Carly’s brutal honesty at the end. I’m 💯 with you on this one Carly.
Creed 2 is great as well! I love that both of you have enjoyed the Rocky series it’s one of my absolute favorites! Thanks for the fresh reactions to some great old favorites!
Honestly this is Stallones best acting job I've seen really good
The first "Rocky" was *inspired* by a true Story: In 1975, boxer Chuck Wepner went up againt then-heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali and, despite being severely outmatched, just fell seconds short of going the full fifteen rounds. Stallone watched the fight on TV and then wrote the Script for "Rocky".
Now what was ol’ Chuckle heads nickname again?
Man he got cut easy. A real _bleeder_ that one.
I'm pretty sure he was knocked out in the 14th round. Initially it looked as though he knocked Ali down in an earlier round, but Ali just fell moving backwards because Wepner was standing on his foot. But, yes, this did give Stallone the idea for Rocky.
@jamesscanlan6240 Chuck really did knock Ali down.
I love how Rocky was known for the body shots, Creed for head shots and here is Adonis with a combination of both.
I've been counting the day's since you announced you were watching this! I'm so excited to see you two react to this! Hope yall had your tissues 😅
Yes the bikes are 100% a philly thing. I think this movie nailed philly and the vibe of the city perfectly! lived here all my life. They didnt do any of the tourist attractions they showed the real struggle and i respect that this movie is authentic!
You are now my # 1 movie reaction channel. Its a true reaction channel.
That big moment in the ring never fails to make me cry. Not well up, but full on dropping tears. I'm just glad it stops short of full-on sobbing.
Rocky had such a great intro. Coming up the stairs grunting and sighing just working hard. Just from that sigh he gives you already know what Rocky's life has been since the last movie. Little did he know he was about to make a new friend and his life would change. Like he said in R2 to Mick: " I gotta be around it"
“Uppercuts really hurt me, they hurt my feelings.” Cassie is so funny. Love these two.
19:59 this is what we call a TKO (technical knockout). The referee felt that fighter had had enough and stopped the fight and awarded it to Adonis.
Seeing someone in the same role decades apart is some of the magic of movies.
Also, the original Rocky was very loosely based on a no-name boxer who had a fight with Muhammed Ali
Chuck Wepner :)
Wonderful review. Yes, Ryan Coogler is shaping up to be one of the greats.

when you asked during that "motorcycle scene" (around 30:00) - yes that is kind of a Philly thing ...
Everytime I watch this movie,it still amazes me how good it is, it's just so well done. If you want another great boxing movie with a great story,I'd recommend Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe.
YES
Also the Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
God I cannot WAIT to see your reaction to the sequel, it does everything a sequel should do and so much more
I just adore Rocky and Donnie's relationship.
I love how they showed a clip of Apollo and he jus got that courage to jump straight up and breathe ❤ my favorite part .
The story goes Jordan was stepping into the punches. The boxer might be holding back, but Jordan was not pretending to take punch.
I used to watch films with my dad.. he hasn't been well for a decade now and watching films alone kills me.. hence I look out for these reaction channels.. just wanted to thank you guys for reacting to this film.. always wanted to watch it with someone.. thank you. Means alot to me..
Loved the sibling banter at the start!
That look he gives when he is informed of his health. It's like he was saying I just got something back in my life with Donnie and Bianca and boxing and now this?. Such a good reaction by Sly
IVE SOOOOOOOOOO been waiting for you two to reach this far in the Rocky saga!!
"Cause you're a Creed and I love ya kid" cue the Rocky music. My favorite moment in the movie.
Alexandria Daddario (sp?) was also on AMC at that time.
I know im probably super late to this but when they hug each other its called a clinch and its a defensive move
Best movie reaction channel hands down!!! Always enjoy your content, and I don't know who edits your videos, but they do a fantastic job!!!
One of my favorite aspects of this movie - and the next one - is the use of the Old-style Rocky music score and the blending of Urban/Hip Hop beats to go along with it. It works really well for setting the atmosphere.
Love you guys. So many reaction video channels out there, but you are so genuine and real. Thanks for sharing your reactions with us.
What a great opening. You guys are so cute. And I love the "What About Bob?" shirt.
Adonis waking up after thinking about Apollo and the Rocky theme dropping are two of the biggest chill inducing moments I’ve ever had watching a movie
Fun fact. Slyvester Stallone still has the two turtles from the original movie. They appeared in the various Rocky movies through the years.
Congratulations on your 200k I love your videos ♥️
The two guys originally supposed to fight were legit boxers. Pretty Ricky Conlan played by Tony Bellew and Wheeler, guy who beat creed at the beginning in the gym played by all time great Andre Ward.
Yes. When “hugging” it’s to slow the pace. Corner will yell “tie him up” meaning “grab him. Slow him down”. Especially when the opponent has the edge and has you in the ropes
stallone didn´t write the creed movies, but he wrote his own dialogue.
It has a love story in it too ;)
I strongly second this. Essentially a true story, set in the Thirties during the Great Depression. Paul Giamatti and Renee Zelwegger co-star
Agree 💯%.
I agree Cinderella Man is another must watch boxing movie.
“Is boxing in the Olympics” 😂😂😂😂
Southpaw is a fantastic film they definitely should watch that
Stallone kept Cuff and Link after filming and as of 2019 still has both of them. They're almost 50 yrs old now.
"If I could take everything that was good and put into a bowl or something, I'd say, 'Hey, here. I'd like to buy one more day with my wife.' I'd do it, and I would die a happy man, right then! Not gonna happen. So...everything I got is moved on, and I'm here...but you know what? It's okay."
This is so sad, because we know Rocky is a man that's spent his whole life fighting, and now with all his loved ones gone, the desire to continue fighting is gone too, because it hurts too much.
Glad your enjoying the movie 🍿 💕 Have a wonderful day✝️
I really enjoy watching these reactions with you 2. I like watching you 2 as much as the movie. Very enterraining.
When you talked about watching Rocky over the years, and how much you loved it, it immediately made me think how much you two would love the Karate Kid movies and the Cobra Kai TV show. I would absolutely love to see you two react to that series!
Facts!!!!
Ryan Coogler wrote and directed this. He also did Black Panther Marvel 💚
I highly recommend Grudge Match (2013), it's a boxing film with Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, very well done.
Has she watched Raging Bull? Helps to have seen that to fully appreciate DeNiro's being in Grudge Match. Certainly one can still enjoy it, but having all that back story with both actors in huge boxing character study films helps.
@@DonnaCPunk I don't think she's watched Raging Bull, but yes I agree she should watch that first to get an appreciation for the back story.
One of my favorites in the Rocky franchise. Great film!
I do boxing training a lot, so I’m just gonna let you know we never have ever tried to wear any type of body gear for sparring or anything like that
Glad you're watching this and I hope you will be watching the next one (Creed 2) as it will finish the Rocky franchise.
Definitely good choices. Especially they were very popular back then. And Cassie needs to add more Award-winning films to her repertoire.
