Thank you u saved my life, I was installing my dash cam while driving and remembered ur video and put the wire behind the airbag whil on the road and was safe, thank you
Thanks for making this video. I saw tutorials for dashcams and I noticed my Accord has side airbags and I was afraid of it going off when doing it. I'll disconnect the battery and run it like you said.
Your video is a very good warning however I think it may be better to explain it differently. The curtain airbag deploys with approximately 3000psi of pressure which allows the airbag to be deployed roughly three times faster than the front air bags and because of this the wire won’t hinder the airbags performance but it could cause interior trim to be propelled around the cockpit and cause further injury.
@@jrsubs excellent question to which there was no answer. My engineering imagination thinks that airbag rips right through the obstacles, the trim does not necessarily break but it is pushed out of the way.
I believe the wire won't stop the airbag from deploying. However it is worse in this case. Once the airbag deploy the wire deploys as well. With such a high speed the wire becomes a sharp knife, cutting everything on the way, for example the driver or passenger
Hindering the deployment would be unlikely, the power of airbags deploying will most likely move the wire out the way with such force; it will pull up any slack from the wire to the fusebox, pull the power connector from the dashcam, or send the dashcam flying.
The power of that airbag deploying can launch that wire like a lash. The guy making this video is correct. Blocking that airbag can result in serious injuries.
Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention since I'd planned on putting in a backup camera I didn't realize I had an airbag on the side where to put the wire thank you very much
Hi, thanks for the video. I also have a Prius. How did you pull the A pillar trim panel off? I can't find any videos on how to remove the panel. Thank you.
My airbag signal had been on for a while now, I just ignored it. I thought it was cables under the driver seat that has been activating it. I just found out it was that exact airbag that it’s causing the light to activate. I put two and two together and the person who installed my dash cam didn’t do it properly.
Its a Toguard 8" Mirror Dash Cam but it looks like Amazon banned them recently. I'd recommed the Akaso DL 12 but it drained my battery on 2 cars so just power it when ignition is on as some models can pull a lot of power when parked
i was actually looking for a video like this. nobody in the installation videos paid attention to the airbag. thanks for the video!
Thanks for posting - nobody else talks about this CRITICAL STEP for SAFETY !!! Well Done !!!

Searched a video with dash cam airbag and here this was. Many thanks, you saved the day.

So where does the trim piece go if you don't have the wire in front of the airbag? Surely it still gets propelled somewhere? Why is it not dangerous?

The trim piece stays in place. Watch this ruclips.net/video/7u6nHM3sa8k/видео.html

Appreciate the video. Easily done today. Wire was rigid enough to slide behind the airbag
Can removing the panel make the air bag deploy?
Little but quite tricky n important point. Thank you!
Hindering the deployment would be unlikely, the power of airbags deploying will most likely move the wire out the way with such force; it will pull up any slack from the wire to the fusebox, pull the power connector from the dashcam, or send the dashcam flying.
Agree. On the other hand, if it's this easy to route the wires around the airbag, why not do it?
The power of that airbag deploying can launch that wire like a lash. The guy making this video is correct. Blocking that airbag can result in serious injuries.
Not so sure that I'd be willing to bet my life on it.
Good warning vid for us DIY people

did you ever find out how to do this on yr Prius? I want to do this too!

got it fixed?
Yes but how to put the side panel back on lol
THIS. Yes thank you for sharing this advice. You made the video that I would have
Thank you
That airbag will slice that wire right up lol.
Thank you so much
Good information, thanks
Brilliant advice !!
Good advice bro, thank you.
How do I get the burrito?
You are a ⭐️
Thank you, very informative
Which dashcam did you install?
