Great video just got a used Prius Plus and had a dash cam fitted by a so called professional installer. The passenger side trim was not refitted correctly and on seeing your video I was able to rectify it in minutes. I would never have figured out the two pins to remove the clip. Thank you so much.
Extremely helpful video, thank you!
2020 Chr uses the same stupid clip. I didn't have extra long needle nose pliers so I had to press the tabs with my trim pulling tools. My God this is the most complicated plastic clip I've taken off
How to disconnect the 12-volt battery?
Remove negative connection side on your car battery first, then positive...
@@mikep509 I always thought u removed positive (charge) then negative?
I managed to do all this without disconnecting the battery.
The sensor is bolted in the middle of the A-pillar. As long as you dont hit it, you will be fine.
My advice would be that you do not mess with the A-pillar while the engine is running. The car running is the only time you risk setting it off. The car knows to not set of airbags when the car is turned off.
I was really struggling to get the cover back on my CH-R after routing a dash cam cable through the pillar. I had no idea how the plastic clips worked until I watched your video. Thanks, I don’t think I would have ever figured it out on my own!
mine dash cam wire is about a foot short. lmao..
I am thinking about getting a dash cam for my corolla and wondered whether I can route the cable through the A-pillar. Thanks mate! Short video with all necessary indormation and details on the clips.
I had NO idea of the name of this interior panel (pillar trim) After about 10mn search I stumbled upon this video. Ty. My pssngr pillar trim is loose. Now I know what to do.
My new 2024 Toyota Corolla le did not have the clips on the plastic hook as shown in your video unfortunately. I’m guessing a unique set of pliers that curve at 90 degrees are needed to get it completely off since the plastic anchors looked like they needed to be rotated 90 degrees to fit through the slot to completely take off the pillar.
I did manage to get it off enough to route & zip tie a dash cam wire down so it doesn’t obstruct the airbag.
It wasn’t easy at all lol, but I’m very amateur in car DIY stuff. So someone more familiar might have a smoother experience.
Thanks adding a dash cam to fusebox wiring on a corolla 2022.
Great guide. There's no way I would've figured out those weird clips myself.
These videos with all the detail, information and surrounding parts you show are so very handy and much appreciated!! Thanks.
Thanks for the help
May you be blessed and may no bolts ever be seized in whatever you are working on
Very useful video. I would never have worked out how to replace this cover. You Tube saved the day again.
Really good thank you man!!
That’s a great video thank you.
I have a 2015 and even though this video isn't for that year, it showed me enough to know roughly how it works (I'm sure they don't overhaul these systems often). Mine only had one clip instead of two (the one near the top). I also didn't need to remove any weatherstripping. After three years I was finally able to get this trim to sit flush! Thank you!
Did you have any issues with the airbag when you reconnected the battery?
Dziękuję za film, przyda mi się aby zamontować przewody od kamerki samochodowej. Pozdrawiam z Polski 😊
Thank you brother, as an auto tech i even struggled to reinstall these stupid clip designs! Got my front and rear dash cam wired to my 24' Corolla Hybrid 👍
Thank you. It saved my life today!
Thank you for the video, very useful and straightforward. Looks like this would also work for the Toyota Mirai.
I was in trouble and thanks to this video, I fi
Thank you. Those clips are a real mystery if you don’t know about those small tabs 😂
Thank you, very useful information.
Thanks for the guide!
Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks for this. I'm hardwiring a radar detector, and when these clips pulled apart, I thought maybe I had "tripped" a one-time-use "tattletale" that would have to be replaced by the dealer. But I got it back together.
Thanks! That was very helpful
Save me money and time!! Champion!!
Great 👍
Holy cow! That was simple. Just what I needed. Thanks.
Thanks for saving me potential damages!
Thanks for the video. You have a video or info on how to access the shark fin on 2021 corolla without taking the whole headliner down. Or if that's not possible a video how to take the whole headliner down. I want to change our my shark fin. Thank you sir.
This is the most useful video I've seen concerning trim removal ! very clear and complete ! Thank you !
This is great for installing openpilot too.
this was fast, accurate, excellent sound balance and very clear recorded video, awesome, thanks.
Thanks for the guide.
Thank you for posting!
Nice video mate, hope same goes to my vios 2020. Gonna install a obd2 meter.
Thanks! That was very helpful
thank u
I just did this so I could hide some wires from a mirror-mounted device.
I had trouble with the needle nose plier thing... So instead, I cut the plastic "dangly piece" which holds it to the cover. Re-installation went just fine.
Bruh… dont be surprised when the plastic trim smacks you in the head when the airbags deploy. Thats why the “dangly piece” exists.
One of the stupidest fucking designs for a clip ever, shame on Toyota for using this design, great video though really helps a lot!
The design is intentional. If you study the clips you’ll notice they are retention clips to hold onto the plastic cover AFTER airbags deploy.
@@robster7787 makes sense, it was just a nightmare trying to reattach the trim after routing my dash cam wires through there😅
Thanks
Thank you!
How’d you get the weather stripping down so smoothly I literally just did so and it ripped on the inside. Must be really glued on for me 🙃
That helped me, thank you very much!
I couldnt figure out how to put the trim back on the 5th gen prius. I see now that the clips needed to be push back all the way before being replaced.
hi mate - can you please also do a video for changing Puddle lights on RAV 4 to LED please
What a stupid design by Toyota
Yeah. I never had a headache with my mazda. But toyota ...
They are there to keep you from getting hit with a piece of trim.
How do I remove the interior trim on the glove box?
Any video of how to fix some sun roof issues??
I got finger- scratch on this A pillar when trying to remove it. Anyway to restore the material surface ?
I can't click it back. I don't know what I can do
I’m aware that this comment is a year old.
In order to click it back on you have to remove the A-pillar entirely. Follow the video.
I had that shit hanging when I installed the Clifford alarm system never again I install that crap now it’s call viper
My air bag went off....ouch m
were you in an accident?
guessing you didn't disconnect the battery?
@@udance4ever you dont need to disconnect the battery. Its much more risky, but its definitely possible.
Source: I just did it like 20 mins ago installing a dash cam
My advice is to not have the engine running when messing with the A-pillar.
Why are you doing this removing the trim to mess around with airbags?🤔
This can be used to run the dashcam wire.
I see. I already installed dash camera and some other wiring for rear camera without removing the trim.@@MorozovAutomotive
If you need to remove the headliber you may need to fiddle with these covers to allow the headliner space to get out....
@@microminiskirt the intent is to route the wires behind the airbags deployment pathway so that the wire doesn’t turn into a whip.
doubt because you have to disconnect the battery to remove the clips
I can confidently say that you’re incorrect because I literally just finished doing this 20 mins ago.
Popped off the A-pillar and didn’t need to disconnect the battery.
Man, you really know how to get right to the point and show the important details. Excellent video. I wish more DIY people made their videos like this!
