As a result of me making all these videos. Some products just did not make the cut and were removed from our store. Luckily the products that were removed were caught before we started selling them. I try and be as non-bias as I can be when showing the performance of these products. But it is also great to use for learning and educating ourselves. More videos to come

I bought the 229 and it is very nice. My old dash cam would cut the satellite radio signal out due to interference from the rear cam. Whereas the 229 has no such problem and the rear camera is great with it's smaller coax cable and smaller size. Very satisfied! Great review! Thanks!

The 129 has higher front camera resolution. If someone backends you a low resolution camera will be sufficient as they will be so close. No point in having a wide angle lens if the camera resolution cannot read the number plate. You cant see the difference in resolution here as the uploader only uploaded it to youtube in 1080p! lol.

they look much the same to me though varying quite a bit from frame to frame.

Your videos really did help me with a ton of information and helped me decide on a dashcam.
    I got a 129.
Apart from all the good things and short comings covered here, I felt a couple of things were missing and which were important for me.
I wanted to have a 4 side coverage. Since there are none such around (at least I could not find it), I decided to go for 2 dashcams with a dual (front & rear) cameras. So in all 4 different views from 2 different dashcams (front & rear twice). Here is where I ran into a couple of issues that were important for me.
1.I cannot connect 2 different Viofo Dashcams to my Viofo App on my mobile app simultaneously. This is the case even if both were Viofo Dashcams. I will have to decide which of the two I want to connect my mobile to. Alternatively, I will have to buy myself another mobile phone connection and then have both the Dashcam recordings in two separate mobiles.
    2. The second is that I cannot connect a single A 129 to two different mobiles simultaneously. Say if I were to loose my mobile, my 2nd mobile would have all the recordings (even though the loss of my mobile would be bad, my recordings may just save the day).
    Imaginary/ Hypothetical ? Not really.
I actually have this on a GPS tracker that I use. 2 different devices (like 2 different dashcams). Their mobile App can store (and therefore track) multiple devices to a single app. Additionally, I have this on 2 different mobiles (not sure if it can be added on more…did not need it on more). Not that I am in any way connected to it nor am I being sponsored to say so, but OneLap Go is one such (there could be more)….So I am speaking from the experience of using multiple trackers on a single mobile app and the use of tracking on different set of mobiles simultaneously.
My plan is to travel a lot across different regions that speak different languages and under different governments…hence…. So now I have to decide how I wish to go about the 2nd Dashcam to ensure 4 side coverage - any dashcam other than a Viofo or to live with 2 mobiles each capturing one set of dashcams.
Ps: I had planned the 2nd to be a A229...

@@SafeDriveSolutions Can't thank you enough for always responding ! Here is where I am coming from....there are many situations where the Traffic police has pulled you over. When on the mobile, it is easy to show it to the police - and there are people who have done so and the Traffic police, who may have missed something, understands on being shown the recording. I am yet to try out all the functions of my new A 129, but I am thinking that how would I show it to the police if it is on the SD card ? Do I need to always carry a data card reader, take out the Card and connect it to a display unit (mobile/laptop....) ? I would think plenty of time would go doing this.....by that time in all likelihood they may want a visit to be paid to the Police Station....Or maybe take out the A 129 and show them on the screen perhaps - but would the A129 work if disconnected from the power source ? I thought a mobile makes it quick and simple... .Like I mentioned, I am yet to try out all the functions and views/opinions/information will be very helpful. Thanks again.

I had the A129 Pro Duo in my Frontier Crew Cab. Yes, the cable to the rear was FAT but its a truck, plenty of room. But the problem was... in the summer the adhesive would melt on the hot glass. And because its a truck the back window is slap vertical. The dang camera would slide down to the bottom sill, not be seeing anything, and leave a sticky mess on my glass. Now I have a '21 Mazda6 and the A229 rear camera is perched directly over the 3rd brake light. It is solidly in place and seeing everything all the time.

In terms of resolution on the front is the A129 better than the A229?

This is a very old video. There are newer models now. However the A129 pro which was used in this video is higher resolution than A229(now discontinued) been replaced with A229 Plus and A229 Pro

Hi everybody. I have A129 duo plus, which is not 4k. BUT when I bought it, it had an old firmware, which actually had 4k 30 fps functionality. Then I updated the firmware and 4k disappeared. So I assume that even A129 duo plus can record in 4k, but they had to downgrade it in order to sell A129 pro. So 4K is just a firmware thing, it is gimmick.

So I am curious about this. So I had an Viofo A229 on my bench and I had an SD card I was floating between units. I put the SD card in and it said the A229 had 4K I was like what this is awesome. What I cam to notice was the A129 Pro SD card brought some of the date over to the A229. Once i formatted the SD card it all went away. But as I crolled down the screen you could see it even though the A229 was a 129Pro. My guess is that what happened but i do not know.

@@SafeDriveSolutions That's really strange. I had completely new SD card. And this function was in the settings menu where we can select different resolutions for the camera. 🤔. I even searched some russian forums, found out that everybody was complaining about removing 4k and suggested to stay with old firmware.

I think it is mainly due to the Sony STARVIS image sensor. the 4K unit does not have the STARVIS image sensor it is using exmor.

I have a thing for buying the newest tech. So for me I would buy Viofo A229. But like I say in the video either one is a great choice. But I like it for Sony Starvis lens which will work better in low light conditions.

It is more of a personal preference. I always recommend motion detection (Auto event detection) or time lapse to my clients on most dash cams. If it is a Thinkware typically it is motion detection and energy saving mode. I prefer not to degrade video quality, otherwise why buy a high resolution camera. But it is just my opinion.
