Thank you for watching. You will need to first format the drive for use with the PlayStation. After that plug both external hard drives in a computer and copy files from the old external hard drive to the new external hard drive.

Wjej Wjje well I got passed the obstacle by deleting modern ware fare and downloading it onto my external Hard drive but I still come across the problem when formatting a game say 30gb or more.
You need to properly disconnect your external drive. If not you run the risk of losing all your games. Only other thing that you can do is turn your PlayStation off and then disconnect your hard drive. You will be ok then too but just properly disconnect so you don’t have any problems.

If you put the game on the external hard drive then the game is on the external. If you want to copy your saved game data then you will have to copy that also to the external hard drive. Once you move a game it’s no longer on your PS4 hard drive.
Then move a game that will give enough space to your external hard drive. You should be able to put updates on the external hard drive also. Change your Installed App location to external hard drive. I have a video on how to did this also.
If u purchased a game from the online ps4 store or you have a game that you can play multilayer like gta or call of duty you are not going to lose anything you just have to sign in your account download the game and play

Yes you can do that but only with digital games. You will still need the disc for the disc games. When you buy the disc game and put it in. It only downloads part of the disc not all of it. That’s why you still need the disc.

I have a wierd problem. Connected a new hard drive with more storage. Formatted it and it would show both but i had to select which one to use at a time, chose my new one and wanted to move all games i could from system to the new hard drive. It only moved 2 small ones and refused to move more with error message dispite tons of free space. Ps4 started freezing and eventually unplugged it. turning it back on kept freezing and kept restarting it and now it works again but wont recognize new hard drive. Will recognize old one and as long as the new hard drive isnt plugged in it runs fine. had to repair old hard drive but wont recognize new one still, plugged it into pc and that wont recogize it either. HELP!

It won't let me transfer Red Dead onto my external storage. It just won't let me click on it at all and the letters are translucent instead of bold.

Yes. That means you have to move more games. If you pull up the game size info, you can see what the size is before you move vs your free space.

Could be a few things. Maybe the new hard drive is corrupt. Do you have another ps4 to plug it to see if it works? I would say try that first.

Yes you will be able to play. You won’t lose your progress because your game data stays on the ps4.

Usually the update download to the system storage. What you can do is let it download to the system storage and then move it to extended storage.
What about the saved data and in game progress and new content? Will that carry over as well?
You have to do that individually. Go to saved game data and copy your profile to the hard drive.

If you didn’t put anything on the hard drive yet, reformat it and see if that fix’s the issue
