Thank god for Korg making the Kronos, the patch chaningings on the old keyboards were terrible :D A lot of the feelings in the song is lost when reverb of sound cuts instantly, at least I love my Krono bear
@@edgaralonzo8111 In the studio recording Rudess played the last note with his nose and that's the take that ended up on the album. ruclips.net/video/TNhkNepkilc/видео.html
First time I see Jordan with a Triton! And a Karma!! The sounds cuts when he switches patches... That's why he preferred Kurzweils at the time... Wonder how much money did Korg gave him to go with them.
to all who misundrstood my comment on Oscat Peterson vs. Jordan Rudess. When I commented about"electronic" and "computer ptogrammed" music, I realize that it appeared that I was referring directly to Jordan, I assure you I was not. I was commentin in general about keyboradists who have less "talent" then it appears due to tricks. To tell the truth, I couldn't name one off-hand, so maybe I'm the one who ows the apology for the lack of percision in my post. Jordan Rudess has superior talent. Oscar Peterson was one on the greatest jazz masters to ever play. I quoted his masterpiece "Chicago Blues" because it is only one of many that reveals this grand technique. Everytime you hear a recording on "Verve" or "Bluenote" and you say MAN that pianist is "Smokin' it's probabply Peterson. He's gone now but he left behind a legacy that may never be duplicated. True, Rudess plays an entirely different kind of musical but it makes little difference except to personal tastes. Both are amazing. I would like to thank all who offered an apolgy, it shows the high class of those who comment on greatness, and like me, expect accuracy along with good taste
Missing Kurzweil here, I had the same keyboard but I hated the silences between patches... He returned to Korg when they build finally THE live workstation!
For a moment I thought I would find Steve Vai's masterpiece, then I noticed the title is not the same, doh! (Vai's song is called For The Love Of God).
If the keyboards weren't there you'd notice instantly. Sometimes he's just fattening up the guitar sound with something that compliments it without getting in it's way. He's addressed this before.
Yeah the Triton is DEFINITELY way more of a Studio keyboard than a live playing keyboard. Lots of patch change problems and honestly the sounds kind of sound kinda "fake?" I will admit that the Oasys and Kronos are some of the biggest steps in keyboard technology though.
Yeah and sadly on DT albums its difficult to hear JR's gorgeous contributions clearly. Even hear the keyboards are too low in the mix, and its JRs own show for Gods sake!
Well during the live performaces the mix is usually more balanced and the keyboards give the song a whole new life. I think he was forced to double with the guitar when Portnoy was around, if you notice on ATDOE the keyboards are quite prominent in the mix and theres very little of the 'snarling pig' tone.
Sadly the keyboard is drowned in the DT mix, and the bass is ridiculously low. In TOT they got the bass right but the keyboard needed to be more balanced in a lot of places on the album. The guitars were way too loud. Even in this performance the keyboards are drowned, I can't wrap my head around it.
That is the main problem with this style of music based on metal, everyone is following the distorted guitar riffs that eats up so much frequencies, which gives no chances for keys and bass to shine on
Listen to Oscar Peterson playing "Chicago Blues"; half-way through when you pick yourself up off the floor you'll understand why I recommended it. It's a human being playing the piano. Not a bunch of electronics mixed with computer programming. Maybe you should just forget it. Sorry I intruded.
+Ed D Yes I quite agree even though jazz is not the first thing I will listen to I do somewhat respect it for it's complex nature and theory in harmony. Oscar Plays very well indeed. thanks for sharing.
In The Name Of Jordan
Nope, In the name of Petrucci.
Nope Jordan
Nope, Petrucci
Portnoy
Dream theater makes me feel so good
***** hum
I can play this on my Casio watch!

In the Name of God = In the Name of Jordan Rudess
This is great, to hear more of the key parts!
He forgot the last note... with his nose...
I don't get it

The best of monsters ,,, Rudess is King

The patch change failed and he was stuck on the lead sound for a bit...

Ed D Nice! Thanks man for clearing things out! Dont worry, sometimes it happens! Have a nice one!
Jordan is mi favorite musician XD
joan moleiro I hear you, man. He is one of my most beloved musicians on earth. Nice to know we live in his same generation.
Missing Kurzweil here, I had the same keyboard but I hated the silences between patches... He returned to Korg when they build finally THE live workstation!

I had exactly the same reaction. Glad to see it wasn't just me, sir~ xD
Amazing, can't stop listening.
So Good
Jaw droppingly good
8:41 Sip, mis dedos se rompieron. Gracias ,Rudess, por motivarme/desmotivarme con el piano
LIMB Clinic PC jajaja brutal!!

i love song
el coro es simplemente hermoso!!
Really good performance! I can see in his face that he doesn't feel really comfortable with that keyboard/patches, though.
11:35 love it
Master
Most likely yeah, but silence, we must not question the gods.

It happened many times in the video, is notorious!
Nice cover.

9:19 jordan forgot to change the voice
How come when it comes to piano there are many views and for keyboard it's much lesser?
How come he doesnt do the ending where he plays the final note with his nose
Killllllllllllllllller Playing :D
si de echo siento que los efectos suenan mas claros y asi D:!

Dat outro though...
Is this Gian Luca Trombetta when he was younger? :D
Coincidental.
Podrias subir Cartoon giant, de este show?
=)
It's kinda weird to hear whole Dream Theater seeing only J. Rudess on the stage))
Okay, this might sound like a stupid question but... does swivelling the keyboard do anything?
nope, just for show
How vain can Rudess be? I mean, naming a song after himself? Doesn't get vainer than that.
Is 12:48 a mistake in the form, or is he just kind of going for whatever?
Amazing performance, but people don't know how to record video, I want to see the actual playing not just his face.
How he change the sound tone without any press key?
Fairly sure he uses a foot pedal. His keyboard has all his arrangements in order and he just hits the pedal.
i think is because the lead is on mono and glide time.. or midi fail xD
haha yeeah
1:25 - 1:35 you look like a DJ
In the name of Sheamus.
suena mas pro con el kurzweil xD
666 views..........irony
Yeah I noticed that to... Poor guy, probably couldn't live with himself after making a mistake...
Haha.
MEH
Just trying to get us to think he's not some form of god

"played" he belongs to the ages now
Jordan is a Juilliard graduate for piano, he can play acoustic piano as well
of course he can. Do you thing a digital piano is something special?
