DIY Install a Pool Skimmer and save time (Bestway or Intex)

- This is a DIY on installing an above ground pool skimmer. I did this so I could save time and not have to skim the top of the pool every day. I hope you find this video straight forward and easy to follow. Will work on Bestway and Intex pools.

Any advice on someone who cut into a corner to far.. it doesnt extend deep just a little bit from the desired hole in the middle. Will the plate hold it fine or should I reinforce with a patch.
You can try it out as is first. If it is an issue, then you can patch it with a pool patch on both sides. Hope that helps.
Is there a way to bond an intex pool to the inlets and without a skimmer. I have an intex 18 by 52 round that we cannot find the bonding kit to bond the pool. Unless we need to install this skimmer and use the bonding plate kit for skimmers?
Sorry I didn't have to bond my pool as it is in a low spot on my property. I do see a lot of kits on Amazon that use a pool skimmer and add a bonding kit, but I don't know how effective they are. Hopefully someone on the comments can give some advice. Best of luck.
I see that you didn't put the second interior lid inside....we were having cavitation issues when we put it in ours so we took it out and there's no more sucking air....did you have the same issue? And whats that thing for exactly other than making a stonger whirlpool effect inside the skimmer?
Hello Leah, thank you for reaching out. The pool skimmer is ment to operate without the vacuum adapter. Basically you put that plate on and attach it to a bottom vacuum to help skim the bottom of the pool. As you mentioned, keeping that plate/adapter on long term can cause pump cavitation. When you took out the hose's and put in the two plugs where did you get the plugs from ?
They came with the pool kit. They help stop water flow when changing the filter. Hope that helps.

Did you split the gasket?
It's two gaskets, one on each side of the linear.
From my experience I thought you put it all together and then the last thing you do is cut the hole out or am I mistaken...
Either way works, I thought it was easier this way.
The way he did it in the video is the correct way. The other way has you cutting the rubber gasket, which you shouldn't do.
