That was cool just to hear DLR say, "We're gonna play some Sabbath"
***** Van Halen doing Sabbath, two of my No. 1 fave bands!! Heaven!
yeah but he didnt even know it was from Volume 4....
Dave didn't sing a solitary word that was actually IN the song! Great job!
Can we talk about Alex nailing the drums on this song . He did Bill Ward proud ✌️🎸🔥🤘
As long as we can talk about how DAVE didn't sing a single WORD that was actually in the song.
That's by far the best song I ever heard Van Halen play.
No regular unleaded cover of Paranoid or Iron Man for VH. Bad asses dive in deep from the get go! Pull out the choice riffs and the juiciest jams. Some of Iommi's most eccentric creative effluvia in here.
Ugh Blake I fucking love both bands so damn much.
@Smokeanaut This was the single from Vol. 4. Real Sabbath fans, my ass.
@@bjacobcampbell9578 exactly.... Roth anyways....any REAL fan knows Vol. 4
They considered Rat Salade as a name at one point.
And 2 years later, they opened for Sabbath!
I saw that show in NY. Had no idea who VH was at the time.
My dad saw the same tour in Dayton Ohio.
one not two..1977, my Dad was there
And there is a legendary story about when they came to my home town of Pittsburgh. The audience flipped for the opening act and then Ozzy came out with a coke blown out voice and the crowd chanted Van Halen and damn near booed Sabbath off the stage.
@@TonyTheBassPlayer1 My dad gave me the same story. What an awesome show that must of been!
RIP EVH🎸
Just imagine being there - you wouldn't imagine you were in the presence of future legends... covering legends.
I'm sure Eddie learned a lot about riffing from Tony. On the 'Women and Children First'-album you can hear some stuff that sounds pretty much like Black Sabbath. They're good friends too, so no surprise !
But he don't learned nothing about good songwriting from him. To me more importantly than a technique. But without technical knowledge you got shitty solos... That's the other side.
@@giogionist2148 Van Halen wrote fantastic songs what are you talking about.
Sabbath forever Bro)
@@rubendelarosa2553 musically yes, lyrically no
Tora Tora Tora is a good example
Wow,when the picture the ticket stub for Gazzari's showed one of the opening bands was a band called Maidenhead I tripped out. An old friend of mine God rest her soul, her ex husband was in that band. She used to tell me this story how David Lee Roth knocked her over on his way to the stage one night. But as she always said "Hey I held on to my drink" was classic! Love ya Kathy Butler!
Geezer Butler is Great t00)))
You can see how their take on this tune influenced the boogie nature of their original tunes.
Actually a little yea it’s got kind of a funky groove
Rock In Paradise EVH
My friend saw VH open for Sabbath at the Garden. I quote: "They were jumping around and were the ideal of what any band could want to be. Young, athletic, brash and great. On that night, they were so good, they would have blown away any other band, of any era, at any time."
Holy Jesus Blow My Motherfucking Mind!!!!!!!
This is too good not to share!!! This means there are more club days recordings out there that aren't circulating. Son of a...
When you cover black sabbath..you show with onestly your respect.
I love this stuff. I knew the Van Halen brothers were huge Sabbath fans. Great upload.
I went to high school with this kid and he has a peas and cues in order
Greg, I'm currently reading Van Halen Rising. Loving every page. Great job
That was really cool! I have seen both bands in concert in the 70s
Very badass!.... Lookin forward to this release.. Thx for postng!!
what a find . many thanks for posting. great cover.
Amazing! This is history!!
Amazing find! I thought I'd heard every "club days" VH cover out there. Great find!
Awesome!
Many thanks for this gem kind sir! I have a TON of VH boots and I've never heard this or even knew of it's existence! A young God playing the legend God.
+Shane Pittenger You're welcome. Have more forthcoming. Stay tuned.
Exactly.... thought I'd heard them all.... Dear Greg.... how about a book about Fair Warning...??? The hidden Gem in the VH catalog.
Great book Greg.It helped me put some dates on old tapes in my collection.
Love this!!
FUCK YOU.
Sick
I liked it. Reminds me of the original Live at Last 👍👍👍
What an awesome find!!!
Nice!!
🤘
Did Dave forget the words to the bridge? Eh who cares, this is really cool.
hokendog DLR - forgetting the words onstage since 1976! :)
so true. Dave rarely remembered the words to Van Halen songs much less anyone else's songs. I remember during the US festival he forgot the words to their opening song Romeo Delight.
To really try and imitate Ozzy, he forgot the words just Ozzy used to do all the time
@Kagemusha sounds about right.
@Kagemusha Roth rules! He's only human and he doesn't give a shit, a pure rocker! :D
Damn this kills
Viva van Halen
Impressive.
How've I not heard this before???
I wonder if Roth liked Sabbath. It doesn't seem like his personality as well suited his voice is for Ozzy's material.
StartabandRoxy Eddie Van Halen is a big fan of Tony Iommi and Black Sabbath.
@@robross8935 ruclips.net/video/7Us85phJV6s/видео.html
the van halen brothers loved black sabbath and all that heavy stuff, david lee roth loved soul, funk + blues music.
rough but good.
Sounds very energic, hahahaha dlr didn't know rhe lyrics apart from that the music was awesome like they did the Homework!!!
Eddie sounds perfect damn, they all do but EVH sounds like f&:g studio mix
I love the sound of digitally captured 4 track cassette tape.
(Most of) today's dumbass kids will not understand the value of these recordings, ever.
The sound of an era which was to be experienced, and never iPhoned!
Ok chill out there mr holier than thou, just because most kids today don't know the value of a fucking cassette recording from the 70s doesn't mean shit. I love Van Halen and Black Sabbath and hundreds of other bands from these eras. I grew up on this shit. And I was born in 1997. Take a back seat there old man, no one cares about your "you ain't a fan unless you were there" mentality
Not bad much better then their rendition of "Man On The Silver Mountain"
CIAO MAESTRO! 🤘😢
😎👍😁🤟🎼☠️🖤🍻Smile. \m/ ' [-_-] ' \m/....Bye... Bottoms up and cheers...Stay loud, stay proud, stay heavy. Take care and be safe.....
Check out Black Sabbitch's cover of Tomorrow's Dream with Mary Powers on Vocals. Just KILLS!
Dave's usual forgot-the-damn-lyrics gibberish thrown in for good measure
What!?!?!?!?!? That actually happened?!?! Omfg!
Did diamond dave get any of the lyrics right, sounded like he wrote a whole new song to the tune
✌Van✟Sabbath/Black✞Halen🤘
Well as talented as Eddie is he's no Tony Iommi
You're right...he's way better
@@jonnyhartman932 Damn straight! just like Rodan just wastes Gaudi.
Let's face it when Bobby D and Ozzy go is probably about over?
Sounds great except for the audio. Great cover!
Solid cover, but Eddie certainly didn't put his own flair on it. Not that that's a bad thing. I read he used to cover Cream stuff note for note too.
Alex is moving
he should have learned the words first lol but still cool
Alex
So he screwed the lyrics up back then just like he does today! 🤣
Dave didn't sing a single word that was actually IN the song!!
Too bad Dave didnt know the lyrics.LOL! oh well.
You don't know what Sabbath album the song came from 😂?? Come on Dave, gimme a break...
Se Escucha Horrible, escuche esta versión en otros Canales y se Escucha Mejor !!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👅👅👅👏👏👏
BS influenced all hard rockers of '70s...
WHO LET THE DRUNK ON THE DRUMS.......?
Alex is great when he's playing Van Halen, but he butchers Bill Ward when trying to play Sabbath...too many notes.
Most every drummer that covers Sabbath butchers Bill Ward.
Kind of shitty but good
Thats not van Halen jesus already
Are you serious lmao? Pretty obviously Van Halen.
This made me hate Van Halen, whereas I just disliked them.
I seen the original van Halen twice and was never impressed I always thought Eddie van Halen was overrated
Eddie van Halen was way overrated
Always were better than Sabbath=\//-/=
Of course not
Comparing Sabbath & Van Halen is apples and oranges. Not a good comparison. Completely different styles of music.
Jim Deecken nah. I do agree it's apples and oranges though..
Ferroequus Domain .. puulleease
HE'LL NO! SABBATH IS LEGENDARY, NOT VAN HALEN....
they sound very surprisingly like them
