Hi Jared, what is your real world experience with sensor dust on the Sony. Many reviews I read have big concerns over dust affecting images on the Sony as there is no built in internal cover to protect the sensor when changing lenses I gather.

But seriously Nikon - how smart is it to be this far behind Sony and also slamming the door in 30 year user's faces with rip off, substandard 'repairs?'

Yes, the newbies coming to mirrorless from smart phones will want to chimp each shot, but the EVF is the way of the future IMHO. Hopefully, the next wave of technology will offer a modular EVF, on multiple screens. On Sony, hopefully using the higher-bandwidth WiFi being tested on the new A9II.

Mark Shirley keep shooting with D750. I am sure you are more than happy with the output of D750 because it’s an amazing camera. Yeah the a7riii was and still is better than the Z7. Unless you run around with an external recorder all day. Even then, go Panasonic or BMPC cuz that means you're probably shooting a lot of video. But for photos, Sony blows Nikon out of the water. Especially run and gun, or event shooting.
@@bjornvesterdahl9238 hell yes it is...Riii autofocus alone runs circles around Z7. Image quality? I'd give Sony an edge for ISO handling . Z7 is a slug at AF . Why would anyone want that??
I get a lot of pain in the pad of my hand at my pinky using my A7R4. The grip is not tall enough so the corner of the camera digs painfully into my hand. I don't have the vertical grip, but that would fix this issue for me.
Strange, I've held mine at several events now, for at least 7 hrs at a time and the grip has been good in my hands. I've heard of people having similar complaints when I had my D750. I guess not every camera will fit everyones hand well
great review. I'm giving my A7rIII to my son at college. I was considering replacing it with the Nikon as the menu system on the Sony is frustratingly (is that a word?) complex and I also was a Nikonian for decades before I got the Sony at the recommendation from my cousin who is a pro. But after watching this, the choice seems pretty clear to stay in the Sony world and get the updated version. Thanks for helping me spend $700 more than I planned!
Since the firmware upgrade, I've not had any problems with Nikons Eye-AF but agree the Sonys Autofocus is better. It's quite an admission for you Jared to say that the AF on the SONY was so much better that you were able to get shots with the Sony on your shoot with Bernie, that you might have missed with the Nikon. You did however, previously state that you took one of your greatest photos ever with the Z7 at NASA. The Z7 seemed to nail the eye quite well on that shoot.
If video is your primary goal then the Z6 is the way to go. All Z-lenses are extremly silent and have minimal focus breathing but keep in mind if you need manual focus, the Z cameras do not support linear focus. However this might get fixed in the next firmware update.
If you don't shoot fast moving subjects then yes Riii is an undeniably fantastic camera. If you enjoy shooting sports or birding then the Riii won't serve you well. I sold my Riii for the R4 for the AF improvements alone... I have to say it was worth it
@@AllenFreemanMediaGuru megapixels are overrated. With the a7riv you get lots of noise but most importantly it's very slow for wildlife and sports. If fast action is what you shoot then a7riv isn't the best choice.

Not that i care other than being consistent. And maybe that was something i saw elsewhere as all these RUclips videos start to merge after a while
Bah CFexpress and XQD. Its still $400 for 256GB CFExpress from a trusted brand. Thats $800 in cards, for 256GB redundant. And with something that shoots 61MP, you may want to shell out for 512GB cards($1200 total).

61 vs 45.7 MP is not such a big difference. It's actually 9504 vs 8256 on the long side, Sony is just 15% more then the Nikon.
I need to keep in mind which mode is being addressed: photo or video.
Which one does best in poor weather? Ex: Rain and Cold...
IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER THIS WAY!
Jared: hey Steven who paid us more money to make this comparison nikon or sony?
Steven: pentax!!
THE L-MOUNT ALLIANCE!! lol
@@AdrianHodgePhotography haha that echo and shake during L mount alliance, it is always fun to watch
I’m sitting here watching this video as if I haven’t already been sold on the Sony for months.
Sony are doing so well with their cameras but still I have a aversion to buying one, I really don't know why.
Just try one for yourself. There's no comparison on the market right now honestly...Don't let the prejudice hold you back ;)
Mark Shirley shoot with what you are shooting and wait for whatever brand you are using to release their pro bodies.
@@nightfury4756 Nikon D750.
Mark Shirley keep shooting with D750. I am sure you are more than happy with the output of D750 because it’s an amazing camera. Instead, I would focus on giving time and money to improve my photography by trying out new genres, visiting new places, buying new photo books and watching photography lectures by eminent photographers.
No one is talking about image quality which is got best cleaner image quality?????
I’d expect the Sony to be better....it’s a year newer
The A7RIII was already better than the Z7 tbh.
@@antistiolabeo8950, A7RIII better then Z7?! BIG NO!
Actually 6 generations newer... FAR ahead of Nikon!
@@bjornvesterdahl9238 hell yes it is...Riii autofocus alone runs circles around Z7. Image quality? I'd give Sony an edge for ISO handling . Z7 is a slug at AF . Why would anyone want that??
4000€ for the Sony... I'll keep my D850 for now
Imma buy a d850 and I dont think Ill even need another camera.
people that shoot > people that own cameras

I Shoot NEF
that is if you are a Sony Camera user
Yes, I use a A7Riii and A7Rii, but I got a A7 converted to infrared earlier this year and realized the A7 (don’t tell anyone) is a great camera.
Converted to infrared for astro photography? How did you do that?
Since the firmware upgrade, I've not had any problems with Nikons Eye-AF but agree the Sonys Autofocus is better. It's quite an admission for you Jared to say that the AF on the SONY was so much better that you were able to get shots with the Sony on your shoot with Bernie, that you might have missed with the Nikon. You did however, previously state that you took one of your greatest photos ever with the Z7 at NASA. The Z7 seemed to nail the eye quite well on that shoot.
Do you think Sony will put out an alpha 7iv? Cuz I'd like the body size..but I won't need that many mp.. whachu' think?
What about colors
Hahaha 😂 the opening.
I have a big doubt, the z7 with its lenses for the z mount, is the focus silent? I record a lot of video and I'm really interested
ya it is
If video is your primary goal then the Z6 is the way to go. All Z-lenses are extremly silent and have minimal focus breathing but keep in mind if you need manual focus, the Z cameras do not support linear focus. However this might get fixed in the next firmware update.
Jared: Which camera should you buy?
Me: A7riii.
If you don't shoot fast moving subjects then yes Riii is an undeniably fantastic camera. If you enjoy shooting sports or birding then the Riii won't serve you well. I sold my Riii for the R4 for the AF improvements alone... I have to say it was worth it
7R3 me too.
@@nrocha2466 you could have had the much faster a9 for the same price.
Sami Kallio If you want less megapixels.
@@AllenFreemanMediaGuru megapixels are overrated. With the a7riv you get lots of noise but most importantly it's very slow for wildlife and sports. If fast action is what you shoot then a7riv isn't the best choice.
Well at least it’s legal 😂😂😂😂
i thought FRO already did a video previously about ISO being different between brands and basically not being comparable. So why would Nikon 64ISO beat Sony 100ISO. Not that i care other than being consistent. And maybe that was something i saw elsewhere as all these RUclips videos start to merge after a while
Tony Gorham you’re right. Nikons 100 iso is like 75iso. Canons around 60iso they’re all not very accurate for true 100iso
If I was to own Sony a7 R3 should I worry about owning other camera 📷?
Bah CFexpress and XQD. Its still $400 for 256GB CFExpress from a trusted brand. Thats $800 in cards, for 256GB redundant. And with something that shoots 61MP, you may want to shell out for 512GB cards($1200 total).
