But you HAVE to check out Words Darker than their Wings live at the Royal Albert Hall ft the Parallex Orchestra! It'll blow your mind!! Myles vocal range is incredible and you'll get to hear Mark Tremonti sing too ;)

    The name comes from a bridge on Alter Road in Detroit, near the place where Mark Tremonti (guitarist) grew up. He wasn’t allowed to cross that bridge from his parents because on the other side was a ‘bad’ neighborhood.

    • @neznarfdvd
      @neznarfdvd 3 года назад +3

      I also like the metaphor that it's not only a bridge separating the 2 sides of the town but it's the bridge that brings them both together.

    • @MoonriseBlue
      @MoonriseBlue 3 года назад +5

      And when Tremonti and company were disbanding Creed and starting up this new band, the name was a bit of a metaphor for going out and taking a chance, crossing into the unknown, etc.

  • @Liimbo

    The picture on Mark Tremonti's guitar is Dimebag Darrell (guitarist for Pantera). He put the picture on his favourite guitar shortly after he passed away.

You also added great contextual info duirng the video with your pop-ups. My sister died last year. I’ll say, from mental illness, rather than spell it out. I felt destroyed as I drove the hour and a half home from the hospital. When I started feeling a little more composed, I turned on the radio and after the last part of an ad, this song came on. I had heard it before but had never paid much attention to the lyrics. As he sang, I really listened. I became hysterical and had to pull off the toll road. I sat there on the side of the highway and put it on repeat on Spotify and bawled my eyes out.
    I will forever more be very connected to this song.
    Let the wind carry you home
    Blackbird, fly away
    May you never be broken again
    The fragile cannot endure
    The wrecked and the jaded, a place so impure
    The static of this cruel world
    Cause some birds to fly long before they've seen their day
    Long before they've seen their day
    Let the wind carry you home
    Blackbird, fly away
    May you never be broken again
    Beyond the suffering you've known
    I hope you find your way
    May you never be broken again
    Ascend, may you find no resistance
    Know that you made such a difference
    And all you leave behind will live to the end
    The cycle of suffering goes on
    But the memories of you stay strong
    Someday I too will fly and find you again

    I also would highly recommend Words Darker than their Wings (from RAB), its an incredible performance.
    I don't mean to be negative, but this is actually considered to be one of his weaker performances - this was at the end of a tour and in some places you can definitely hear it in his voice - though he still delivers amazing passion into the song. Another great reaction though!

    Without any shadow of a doubt my favourite song, it's the perfect song and no matter how many times I listen to it. It is still as emotional and as good as the first time I listened to it, the hair on the back of my neck still stands over a decade later. Perfection. You'll love anything of AB. But I would love to see you listen to 'The end is here' by them. Another of my favourites.

  • @ScottishDayZer

    Why have I only just seen this video? I've been a fan of the band since they were formed. Lucky enough to meet the guys on several occasions and yeah Myles is truly one of the most humble guys I've ever met. Even when I was a kid, I was 17 when I first saw the band and a year later I was at their next show in Scotland and he walked up to me and started talking, he remembered me because I'd given him a gift the previous year. That told me all I needed to know about Myles right there.
    But away from the band, your piano work during the video...wow. I was eating my dinner whilst watching the video and you made me stop and just say wow! You nailed it. Alter Bridge for me is all about stories, emotion and melodies.

    You sir, are the kind of person I wish was my music teacher. I self taught myself basic guitar/bass/drums and was involved in my high-school rock band program from grade 7-11 (very small town highschool) and you seem like the kind of person that I could have 1, learned a lot from, and 2, not given up after a large number of other people basically ruined performing and even just playing to my self, for me. I recently bought another guitar, and trying to pick it back up again, but after almost 7 years of not playing good lord I'm back at square 1. Love these videos. Very glad I stumbled upon you.
