I'm a guitarist ... the emotional phrasing medium low tone of Myles Kennedy opposed to the Tremonti style ( shredding and wha-wha and consequent medium-high tone) create a wonderful mix, two roads that lead to the same place..... Ciao from Italy.
His friend passed away from Cancer, and this song, is just amazing, from the emotion through the music, and the composition of the music, it is just so well done. This band I fell in love with when I saw them live, I highly recommend seeing them live if you can!
@@VinAndSori the process of writing it was actually started before he passed, hence why some of the lyrics came out in present tense. The friend did pass before it was completed.

To have such a strong voice and play the guitar just as strong is a testament to his talent. Myles could play lead in almost any band. The combination of him and Mark rivals James and Kirk.
@@VinAndSori I never understood why you stopped reacting to Alter Bridge guys....it really seemed that you liked what you heard so why didn't you check out anything else from them? They are honestly such a great band
Thank you guys so much!!! Alter Bridge is probably the most under rated band of all time! With the lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, the bass player Brian Marshall and Drummer Scott Phillips immediately puts a thumbs down on them even though they're nothing like Creed. You guys should really check out more of them, literally all songs are amazing. Please check out Words Darker Than Their Wings, it's based on a conversation the lead singer Myles Kennedy wrote this song and Mark Tremonti were having about faith and Marks like don't lose faith maybe there is something out there, cause Myles was having a lot of questions after his dad passed. Mark and Myles even sing back and fourth to each other in the song, it's amazing please check it out! Thanks guys God Bless!
Fun fact: Myles Kennedy has been Slash's go-to singer for his side projects. The two are a powerhouse combo, you should look up some of the songs they've done together
VinAnd Sori you don't gotta put up a video for it but definitely listen to it in your own time. The mixing is phenomenal and captures so much of the emotion and pain
Tragic Beauty. Beautiful! Alterbridge is underated here in the states, but big overseas. Myles has one of the best voices in rock. Love all the musicians
I am happy that I found a reaction that the reactors really understood the musicianship. I always thought the solo Myles play is the sadness after loosing the person he loves, the longing, the pain. And mark’s solo is the anger towards god, world, fate or whatever for taking that person too soon. A beautiful song man and they say that this is the stairway to heaven of our generation but I am going to say it, this is actually better... SUE ME

Awesome comments on this masterpiece by Ater Bridge. Music truly is a gift! You both combine to put a song into words and give your collective opinions . Very impressed! Subscribed!!
Myles friend that passed was a huge Beatles fan so that’s why the intro is Mcartneys blackbird. Plus the blackbird is considered a symbol of death coming for you. It’s one of the most beautifully written songs as far as the music telling the story as much as the lyric. One of my favorite bands ever!!
Thank you so much for this. Such an amazing song from the best Rock band out there today! Although I wouldn't do live performances without doing the studio recordings first since live performances are almost never the best recording versions. Give it a listen and see if you like it even more! Great reaction once again.
Especially in such emotional songs I prefer the live versions for their unfiltered performance, I don't care about minor glitches for the the raw personality of the song.
Myles is one of a kind of a vocalist... He just uses his voice to express his sadness and frustration of losing a dear friend.... His singing literally made me cry man... I had to admit
You said something I think I may have subconsciously realized before but never heard out loud, and it’s so perfectly correct.... music and concerts give people an outlet where it’s OKAY to acknowledge and feel your pain with others, a place where you’re not alone and you don’t have to pretend or keep your brave face on... right on the money! This band is Creed with a new vocalist and I’m glad people appreciate them because they absolutely deserve it. I’m a fan of Creed too and don’t understand all the hate that they got.
This band is NOT Creed. Creed is no more. This is AB, a new creation (2004), and uniquely their own Myles, Mark, Brian, and Scott. They are AMAZING! I liked Creed, but love AB…no comparison.
This is a true and honest reaction if I’ve ever seen one.. 2 people actually listening, reacting while listening, and speaking after. Much respect, I enjoyed this for sure! subscribing!
The solo perfectly fits the song Myles played his melodic part then mark finished the crescendo up perfectly with a slightly sped up but still melodic ending.
I enjoyed Creed while they were still held together, but the breaking of the band brought us Alter Bridge. Mark Tremonti is a great guitarist, and drummer Scott Phillips. Myles Kennedy has an unmistakable voice that is come to enjoy. Mark Tremonti is now also working on some solo work. You two keep rocking 🤘🏼
Thank you, thank you, thank you....this is the first review (after seeing many) that finally made sense. You guys got ir. (btw the guitarist Tremonti is a very spiritual religious person, so the breese, the wind was on purpose. Their lyrics are extremely deep with lots of symbolic phrases. I saw AB 3 times, can't wait to see them again. AB is a true live band. IN the studio it just does not reach the level of how they perform live. can tell you it is such an embracing feeling to share pain together, with all those strangers. Listening and seeing AB live is a spiritual happening. Thank you again sweeties...you are such a nice and loving couple. Wish you the best
Very well put about the solo. This is why I like the blues because of the expression the guitarist can convey through the instrument. Great review as always! Love the conversation.
Will Gassett Lol yes sir! Trying my hardest to get them introduced to more people! It's unfortunate that pretty much being made up of all Creed members gives people a bad taste in their mouth for them, when they are nothing like them at all lol Alter Bridge should be paying me for all this press I'm giving them lol
Your video is on my recommendation list. I watch a lot of rock/metal reactions. You guys have great commentary and intelligent insight to these songs. Keep it going I'm here for it.
I've watched a lot of reaction videos I guess I'm bored and don't have a life but what I saw you guys face on this video it resonated with me don't stop!
This was the song that made me absolutely fall in love with everything that AB is. A masterpiece in all its glory. Was very lucky to watch these guys live 3 times in London, with the last one being at the Royal Albert Hall with the Parallax Orchestra. They are nothing short of perfection live! They definitely need more love and appreciation. Thanks for the awesome review. You wouldn't go amiss with any of their other songs either.
When you're at a metal show, as crazy as they can be, everyone around you becomes immediately your brother, your friend...someone who deserves respect for who they are, because they vibrate at the same levels as yourself, and everyone have a really good time TOGETHER...it's very hard to describe, but it's awesome :D I love your channel! I love how you can bring your beliefs (often seen as opposite and even rival to metal music) to interpret this music in such a respectful and insightful way...it's always interesting to hear you :D I would be friends with you in an instant! :P Regards from the soooo distant country of Chile :) keep rocking! lml
Hey ! love your comments about how the solo fits so well and the emotion it pours out and the pain you feel while listening. If you want to hear a solo that makes you feel the persons pain you should listen to The Best of Times by Dream Theater. The solo in that song is the most emotional guitar solo in my opinion.
Yes!!! And and not only that it's 30000 people that all are in pain but have to keep going, but in that moment it's 30000 people that are in pain and can relate to each other. Their pain is similar but different at the same time, they all have different lives and different situations but nevertheless they understand each other and come together in that moment to just feel together... I love this song... you're reaction was awesome, you're so cool... thank you (:
FYI, Mark Tremonti (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips (drums) were Creed, along with vocalist Scott Stapp, but they left to form Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy (vocals/guitar)
"the beauty of pain" so perfect, Sori. This reminds me a book about the firsts blues players named "The pain created to heal pain" and we know Rock is Blue's son. Well, this whole song is all about express feelings thru music, not about virtuosity. Alter Bridge is a metal band with real poetry. Tremonti is a hell of a player because he was never up to competition, he feels and plays and we can feel it too.
This is a great reaction, and I was thankful for the things you had to say after the video; which in reaction videos often is NOT the case. For me, being on the spectrum, I appreciated the depth of language introspection which actually gave a bit more depth of meaning to one of my favorite songs.
Maybe this was suggested already, but if you want an equally emotional performance by Alter Bridge, react to the live performance of In Loving Memory. The lead guitarist wrote it for his mother who he lost when he was just a kid. That would be an amazing reaction to watch guys. I also lost my mother very young, and it was played at her funeral. Much love guys. God bless
Great reaction. It's refreshing to see a reaction that is actually insightful and has good commentary. There's not many that are doing it this way and I personally try to stay away from those. Keep it up.
after listening to your review of the song i think you guys would really enjoy comfortably numb by pink floyd. the solos in that song comes straight from the soul. its beautiful
If you liked the crowd reaction/interaction in this one, you should check out Open Your Eyes live from Amsterdam (by Alter Bridge, of course). The bridge section is just amazing. It gives me chills every time I watch it. I was actually fortunate enough to be a part of it when they came round my way on tour :D
Thanks so much for your words and pointing me here. This video wasn't loading when I looked. Might not have been up yet. The moment I heard this song my friend Mike popped in my mind. He had Muscular Dystrophy and died at 23. Doctors gave him til 17, so he won. That's why I wear the bridge on my forearm with a winged skull (his favorite band was Avenged, lol). Thank you for doing this song, it's a treasure. Alter Bridge is a treasure.
I think Blackbird is just a play on words as a reference to the Beatles song Blackbird he played in the intro of the song, although both are likely using it for a particular reason.
Can you imagine how hard this song must have been for Myles to play the first time. I can't even imagine. I totally get why he wouldn't want to play it anymore if he chose not to. Very emotional song. Would love to see what Myles Kennedy has to say about this reaction. Great video.
I love this song .. It's my all-time favorite, such a masterpiece. Alter Bridge, Myles and Mark's solo projects doesn't get the love and respect they deserve, they are SO underrated! With that said, I must say that Myles' effort on vocals on "blackbird" on "live in Amsterdam" is much better, even though this also is a great version! Just want people to hear the best, from the best!
Really nice video guys. Glad to know that some people still love music and not some bunch of electronic sounds with no lyrics and no message at all. Cheers!!!
Hey guys, love Alter Bridge. Seen them twice have the AB that's on the drum kit as a tattoo, Alter Bridge are just Creed with a different lead vocalist but all the lyrics are from the heart and soul not a bad song out of all 5 albums and 3 live CD'S and DVD's
Alter Bridge is pretty much Creed with Myles as vocalist. Myles is a beast! Knowing he was the "Thor" at the end of Rockstar is freaking hilarious, but he has has a powerful voice for a long time! BTW, he was sick during this concert, so he is using a large amount of head voice, but still sounds great!
The guy you said was in creed was Mark Tremonti. In fact Alter Bridge is creed just with a different lead singer. Myles instead of Scott. Also the first time I saw Myles and his powerful, soulful voice was in the movie Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg. He is the one that toward the end Wahlberg pulled out of the crowd to replace him. Love this band and everything they do. All of their solos are so full of emotion and add so much to the song. And the Blackbird is his friend that died too young.
This is Alter Bridge’s “Stairway to Heaven” just a beautiful rock song for a modern generation.
Wow. Same feeling here.
Myles Kennedy & Mark Tremonti are a lethal combination. Such a beautiful and powerful song that everyone can relate to..
Omg yes they are xx
you are forgetting drum and base. They are making the band too and are really gifted musicians. Sad they are forgotten a lot.

Keep it up.
amazing song with a amazing reaction
after listening to your review of the song i think you guys would really enjoy comfortably numb by pink floyd. the solos in that song comes straight from the soul. its beautiful
Great band live !!! Awesome song ! Going to see Myles Kennedy solo in Chicago in a few weeks . One of my Top 5 singers of all time 🤘☘🤘
Lucky man!!
Went to see him last week in Dublin unbelievable performer and singer
I just love the tone of those guitars!
This is a POWERFUL song
Alter Bridge and Paul Reed Smith fiddles 🎸
Too The Front!!
Appreciate you! Yes he won 6x over! You were a gift to him no doubt! Much love from over here my man ! 🤘🏾-Vin
Crows and Ravens are the souls of those past on that are still with us. 💞
Also a fitting song in memory of Dimebag Darrell, who's potrait is on Marks Tremonti's guitar shown here. RIP Dime.
You'll should react to Metalingus by Alter Bridge it is a more happier song
Requiem mass for the dead....rock version! I love seeing first reactions on this song. It takes me back to the first time I heard it! Phenomenal!
Alter Bridge - Watch Over You is another good one.
Amazing song!
Really nice video guys. Glad to know that some people still love music and not some bunch of electronic sounds with no lyrics and no message at all. Cheers!!!
In Loving Memory as stated below....epic track.
Thank you..... seriously.
is a definitive masterpiece!
You guys have to react to In Loving Memory from Alter Bridge live from Amsterdam. One of the most powerful performance I've ever seen.
I must of watched this review 5 times now and am just now noticing the picture of dimebag Darrell at the bottom of mark tremontis guitar 🤘♥️
Myles used to have a band called The Mayfield Four. And Mark now has his own band called Tremonti.
Myles Kennedy is truly a "once in a lifetime" vocalist and one of the greatest of all time.
