just 100% the game myself and found out a few things right at the end i wish i knew from the start.
1. hitting heavy attack right after jumping will lunch your target into the air and start a aerial combo.
2. rubbing the touch pad on the ps4 will make you pat your pod for 2b and fist bump for 9s
3. self destructing by holding in both sticks will not kill you but will blow 2b skirt off and 9s shorts off, not really important but kinda funny plus there is a trophy for playing as pants-less nines for a hour.
OMG! I didn't know about the rubbing the touch pad trick! That's great!
You can do the same with PC... just move a mouse slightly around

Something to add about retrieving the body of another player. When you retrieve the body of another player, you are completely healed as well as getting the random bonuses and money for retrieving. So, if you are low on health and recovery items, retrieving a body can allow you to avoid using recovery items you'd rather save for later.

what feature do I need on to the body of other players?
You need to say yes when it asks if you want to connect to the network (there is also an option somewhere in the menu). I once got 20k from a dead body (not much in the grand scheme but that is quite a few med recoveries)

@@briansouthparkstudio1357 Yeah most of them are just auto-generated NPC bodies so you can still get some of the intended experience even if people stop playing. Player corpses wave WAY more and also tend to sometimes have some nice plugins.
Don't know if somebody has already mentioned this before, but I discovered it today....IF you have MULTIPLE PODS, then holding on to the POD Special Move button, such as Laser/Mirage/Hammer, you will have all PODS pitching in to perform the move.
In short, for PS4 players, hold L1 long enough and you can have 3 Laser Beams fired instead of 1. (That is if you have all 3 Pods). Super useful! Has a larger cooldown time though.

Three pods + bomb is absolutely broken. So fun to just decimate hoards of enemies
And you don't have to stack the ability onto the other pods they'll pitch in regardless of which pod has what ability
if anyone sees this, bomb and hammer are incredibly overpowered with 3
if you tap the jump and fire button at the same time the pod will launch you forward
Plus if you hit x to jump, then hit both the dodge and heavy attack buttons at the same time (So x, then R2 + Triangle) it does a launch forward while also doing a cool attack that flings you up in the air.
this is actually necessary to get a chest in the forest zone.
Mix that with self district to interrupt and you can fly
you obviously never tried to button mash man. I dunno the actual buttons but you can use your pod like a cannon straight after you perfect evade an attack
Benson Huang that is by far the worst attack in the game it takes so long to recover from that.
Other tips:
1. Wait till you get fast travel before doing side quests.
2. The game doesn't auto-save after you die like Dark Souls.

Yes but only recommended if you saved recently.

At the end of chapter 5. About half way point of your first playthrough as 2B. It would be a spoiler if I say more.
Another tip: Don't worry about side quests even if you missed or failed them, you can always complete them later.

ok, here is my tip
obtain and equip these 3 chips as soon as you can: Offensive heal, Deadly heal, Auto-heal.
get them to +3 each at least and congtarulations, unless you are playing on very hard or you're doing something really stupid you should be almost invincible
Yea i did this but it made the game kinda dull so i kept to a Max fused 50% offensive heal, one 50% bonus health chip and one auto use item heal then spent the rest of my space on attack chips.

Mister Turk Turkle I had 3 chip layouts. I used enough deadly heals to get 75% health back every time I killed an enemy, then a layout that was based on defence n attack (since deadly heal is pointless against a boss) and a layout that was based on pure ranged damage against enemies that I can't melee (like the final spider boss in the lake) or swap it for pure movement speed when traveling.
But that deadly heal was just so beautiful
offensive heal is completely unnecessary. deadly heal and auto heal though are mandatory.

especially if coupled with shockwave and a trigger happy pod

A quick note about chips, you want to keep and combine chips that have the diamond next to them instead of random chips you buy from the shop or find from enemies. Diamond chips have the lowest memory usage per level and only gain 1 more for each combine (With another diamond chip). Selling off non-diamond chips are a great money maker for early playthroughs.
bew1977 combining a diamond chip with the second lowest sized chip usually gives you a next-level chip (or eventually give you a chip) that's still diamond. Probably save before trying it, but it can work, and it saves you looking for another diamond chip.

It generally works on odd numbered usage chips. So if you have a size 5 diamond chip and a 6 usage chip, you'll get a 6 usage diamond chip, but if you have a 6 size chip and combine with a 7 size chip you'll get a size 8 non-diamond chip.
Yeah, but then won't it still end up as a diamond when you fuse it with a size-7 chip?
I think that if you have a 5 chip, and a 10 chip usage and fuse them you get,like a 9 or 8 fuse chip. Not really sure can't play right now.
You forgot the best tip in the game : If you have the selfdestruct enabled you can press both analog sticks to blow yourself up, afterwords quickly heal yourself allowing you to get back up. The end result is fantastic, you get to see a whole lot of ass

Something that took me way too long to find out:
If you jump off something high and hold X you will glide down with the help of your Pod. Useful for not taking damage but also to enjoy the view.
So you're telling me you just kept jumping off high areas and dive-slamming into the ground every time! Ahahahahaha that's awesome.

Jump off a high location and press Right Stick and Left Stick at the same time (self destruct), but release before timer runs out. You will fall very quickly without taking any damage. It's kinda glitching the game but whatever lol

Well one tip that I think people should know is the basic long jump. It basically goes jump, double jump, pod fling (pod attack + jump), dash, and then hold jump to glide. It'll help to reach some out of the way areas.
not a beginner's tip but, chip drops are not completely random. Specific location/enemies drop specific chip types.
Shockwave and Movespeed+ can be farmed in the desert housing area where you first fight Adam.
Auto Heal can be farmed in the cave before the Adam/Eve boss fight
Range Atk+ can be farmed from copied city
Havent found the other chip locations yet, but ya'll get the gist
Finish ALL the five good endings. Dont stop for whatever reason. Route B might seem like a pure play through but believe me you want to not only see but experience ending e.

I got me an x-box controller. Used baby powder because my hands sweat too much. RB button gets stuck.
I raged and spilled orange juice on my keyboard(took me 6 min to type this whole comment). Also, my monitor burned out (unrelated) and I have to use my TV as temporary replacement. The game lowers the graphics as it tries to stretch the image to full screen.
I can still *perfect dodge* the shit out of them robots

Saw a Japanese player streaming the game playing with mouse and keyboard going through route C. Blew my mind.
I have to agree. I started playing the intro with my mouse and keyboard only to realize, after probably 1 hour of setting things up, that using my controller solves everything.
why? i can play it properly without controller, it's not that hard tbh if you customize the controller as comfortable as possible to your finger.
My additional tip would be to at least attempt any side-quests you see on the main map before heading to the next story progression marker. There are some that will disappear if you leave them for too long.

Lol i rushed the whole story and found out that the quests are no longer active, it's my 2nd playthrough now, and I'm gonna make sure to do the side quests first 😂

I couldn't agree more..... the attachments you built with the characters, it's like inevitable to cry like a baby 😿😿😿
My tips:
1: only buy medium recovery and sell all small recoveries if you find yourself relying on auto-use (before you get +3 and up where the healing is increased) since small sucks and some enemies have killed me with a follow-up after the small heal (if it kills you in one shot you don't heal, if it damages you too quickly you don't heal).
2: Spears are OP, specifically spears with Stun UP as it can knock enemies out of attacks meaning you will be like 95% safe while attacking (fists are good too but I never found one in my 2B playthrough so if their are any look up a guide if you are dead-set on them)
3: Chips have a sort of rarity system, some will have a black diamond next to them, these chips use SIGNIFICANTLY less space and add less to the cost when fusing chips. When possible save these to fuse with each-other (I have a +4 Attack chip that only uses 10 space which is crazy good as it allows for more stacking of attack chips) - PS chips stack
4: Use counter chips and use spear attacks after a perfect dodge for several 360 degree higher damage attacks.
5: SHOCKWAVE even a +0 shockwave chip gives nearly all of your melee attacks range that counts as melee, which means your melee attacks will easily block those heavy projectiles your pod cannot. Higher levels do more damage based on a % of your weapon damage. Faster weapons like the light swords make best use of this and the +1/2 will do more damage than your pod through most of your first playthrough.
Bonus: Quite a few quest progresses are maintained through playthroughs or you will have the matts for the gathering ones already so don't be afraid to mad-dash the first playthrough and ignore side-quests that feel tedious.
lol the spear when playing as 9S is secretly a ranged attack just press and hold light attack

My tip: you can actually execite different counterattacks after perfect dodge - you can press light attack (air combo for 2B), heavy attack (just ground hits) or shoot (pretty strong grenade).
Also, auto-heal is awesome.
There are these moments in the gaming world when a game feels perfect in every aspect. It happens once in a great while. This is one of those games. Other examples: GOW 3 Kingdom Hearts 1&2, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2.

Totally agree. This game is absolute gem! It's been a long, long time since I truly enjoyed every second of a game from start to finish and then wanted to do it all over again.
Nioh. Yes, there are bad parts but when you're mastering your character's techniques, the combat can look like an action movie fight scene. For instance, you'll dodge a sword, the enemy will dodge your attack, and it happens in real time using real game mechanics.

Now where I finished the game 2 times with all of its main and sidequests + all of its endings within a week, due to excessive playing, I feel sad... Sad that I will probably never find a similar game ever. It makes me somehow depressed and makes me wish that I would never have discovered it щ(ಥДಥщ)

Have guys ever read the terms and conditions on your gadgets? Tv, phone? Anything that is smart records everything you do including your voice. Thats all done in order to understand consumer behaviour more while also market and sell more products. Everything is connected!

I definitely agree with all of these tips. It is especially helpful early on to max out your chip space ASAP because it allows you to have alot more options about what kind of chips you can equip and how many.
Dunno if you know about this, but every now and then you'll find a chip with a diamond next to the name. These are elite chips and take up less space than regular chips. This effect is amplified during fusion so if you fuse a diamond and non-diamond chip, you'll get a small reduction in space cost. But if you're patient, and only fuse elite to elite, you get super powerful chips for super low cost. I have high-level chips that cost around a third of the space of regular chips.
The last time I played a real game was almost 10years ago. Im glad I randomly picked up this one. Everything is beautiful
Deadly Heal is OP af when fighting hoards of enemies. I get 40% health recovery per kill
Imo offensive heal is just better. I usually do around 2k attack per hit from my shockwave and gain lifesteal of 50% from my attack which is 1k hp. More enemies = more heal and u can also use this against bosses. Most versatile chip to be honest. Go for atk+6x2 shockwave+6 offensiveheal+6 and resilience(optional can change to your liking).
- The slam atk (heavy atk in midair) ignores fall damage.
- Dashing then heavy atk immediately in midair to slam faster. It also ignores the sword throwing part of the small sword slam.
- Jump then heavy atk immediately does an upper slash for air combos.
- Lock-on decreases the accuracy of the pod, manually shoot it for better result.

I just finished the prologue so I'm going to head back where my body is. That's crazy you can just get another body. They came up with something clever to be like Dark Souls and Nioh in the fact that you die and it matters because you go back to the body and get your gear. I'm glad exp doesn't reset though. That's really cool!

1 dont use auto use
2 definately. And get used to running without some of the hud items. Those couple extra points can really help
3 as soon as you find big floating worm enemies farm them for Auto heal chips. You wont need nearly as many healing items if youre full healed between battles.
4 once you get to the forest. Farm the little bipedal enemies for offensive heal chips. Being able to lifesteal will also extend your battle abilities greatly.
5 weapons with critical hit bonus are insanely good. And ancient overlord and fang of the twins both get critical up and bullet rupture allowing you to slash down ranged attacks while you close distance
6 weapons with discounts stack and do not need to be equipped to gain their bonuses
7 when you get to the ocean go fishing. You can get a second pod with a laser main attack and having two will allow you to charge your special pod attacks to a higher level
These are some great tips! I didn't know about the chips enhancing the character and also that you could go back to the factory and recover your giant sword. I was wondering why that was missing when I first entered the City Ruins. I just started playing the game and love it already.

thanks a lot of videos are missing the control scheme for the games ex. I had no idea how to use the pod to land from tall buildings. Took me a while to find that holding A did the trick. Now I know how to change weapons
A Tipp:
To get the maximum flight distance Doubles Jump hold x for a bit,than while holding x press e, than a dash (R2) and hold x after it. This Combo is often usefull to reach some spots easy

you forgot the jump and fire pod buttons causes the pod to grab you out of the air and fling you horizontally in the direction you are looking.
To expand on the chip fusions, every chip requires a certain amount of storage to equip, Don't just fuse chips willy-nilly. Fuse your perfect chips (they will have a black diamond after their name) with other low cost chips. This will pay off in the long run, allowing you to equip more potent/wider variety of chips.

I didn't know I could go back and recover my body in the beginning, that would have been a cool free heavy weapon, oh well I've beat the game now
I always use max level Type-3 Sword and max level Virtuous Contract. Fast combos don't leave you as open, and can give you some leg room when evading.
To me the most useful bit of info that would've helped me during the beginning of my first playthrough is how to efficiently fuse Chips without essentially wasting the rarer ones because I was impatient or unaware of how to best do it. Always pay attention to what kind you have and how much space it takes up(if you're new to it then the numbers that are presented next to the name is how much space they'll take) the ones with a diamond next to it are the important ones, don't lose 'em and don't needlessly fuse them unless you're fusing it with another diamond type or sometimes you can fuse it with one of the ones that are similarly low in space but before trying to take that risk save before doing it. When fusing standard chips then try to fuse only the ones with lower numbers, usually if you have 2 chips that take up 9 slots then the upgrade will more than likely end up taking 10 instead of a higher number because you fused a good one with a shitty one. Safest bet is to only fuse diamonds with diamonds when it comes to your primary build
These were some helpful tips, I had no idea I could go back and recover 2B's body after the intro. I'm curious if I can still do that after progressing. Do you have any recommendations on item management? I'm getting a lot of temporary boosts, but they're so short lived I never know when to use them. Is there a quick use function I'm missing?
One minor tip that I haven't seen many people talking about: While you can beat enemies of a higher level than you without much hassle, if any enemy is 5 levels or more higher than you (at least that was the lowest point I noticed) they will not stagger from hits, but the same thing happens in reverse, an enemy that is 5 levels or more, weaker than you will not stagger you (tried it out on the axe guys that spawn in the ruin city early on.
if you tap jump and quickly press heavy attack youll get an even higher jump that lets you reach areas that you normaly couldnt
Fishing can get you those expensive upgrades fast. Fish can sell for 1,000 - 2,500 at the beginning of the game. It's worth thr 5,000 G needed for the HUD. Also, when fishing, just close your eyes and listen for the prompt so you don't reel and lose the fish. Not a big deal but it helps.
pointless. i had 200k+ without even doing anything, just going for the item pickups and sidequests. I'm not even through the first playthrough and already over 600k money.

-Offensive heal +7 "regain hp = 80% of damage"
-resilience (any level) "don't flinch from attacks when above >80%hp"
Very late to this game just got to the desert and got the extra pod thingy so far I am loving it I decided to give it a try after running into the music I am playing on hard and man some stuff just one shots me lol but so far I still like that A few of my friends said I will need to play this at least twice or more.

what a pleasure to come back a year later and checking the videos i've watched playing nier on the pro, now i'm playing it on the one X , it's an improvement over the ps4 pro , but not as good as most other xbox one X enhanced titles, no 4K textures patch yet.. so at a fixed resolution of 1800p ( not far from a native 4K res. of 2060p ) the game looks sharp and HDr is great, one advice though, brigthness issue. the game is not calibrated the same way so you have to tune down to the minimum the brightness in the setting menu to get the original deep blacks u got on ps4 , the HDR is different, more bright, it's cool cos color are more vibrant, but the blacks are more grey ... so just this tip for xbox one , S and X beginners. i prefer to play with motion blur on, but u can deactivate it.

I must disagree with you on the first tip bro: Apart from attacking chips (Melee + Ranged only), Offensive Heal (OH) and Deadly Heal (DH), you should not be too concerned about the other chips. In my opinion:
1/ HP chips is the best of the rest - it may make you survive more than 2 hits in *hard*. Still, it's definitely better to have OH or DH along side them to give your HP some power.
2/ The faster/heavier you kill/damage the enemy, the lesser chance that you WON'T be worried about your HP. In fact, those chips which I mentioned would make you immortal. If you don't like that feeling just try them 3 DLC quests.
3/ *BE PATIENT!* This game is all about experiment. In fact it's economical:
+ At some point once you have cleared as many stages as it's needed to, you can have access to *Emil's Shop* . Buy from him near the Resistant's Camp only => There may be *+6 CHIPS* OF ALL KIND!
+ I've tried it before: Spend ~7m G just to get several +8 chips right from the start - like this bro say, VS ~4m to get ALL OF YOUR CHIPS TO +8 from Emil (fuse them by a "anonymous" machine at the dead valley). Sorry for using Trainer for the money, but if you're hard-core working your ass of to get money, you can trust me since my eye sight is good and these numbers don't lie.

this game reminds me a lot of Kingdom hearts birth by sleep, with the multiple playthroughs for each character, and with the chips fusion similar to to the command deck in bbs.
You can instantly unlock one ending (T) after you passed opening part, by removing your OS chip (Fa[T]al ending) titles will go instantly and game progress won't be touched, but in the loading you'll see "T" in your passed ending list

What does the evade up chip do? I have a 60% evade chip equipped but I don’t notice any difference
lad i found out my self by searching a way to go to the desert to go back in the factory and retrieve my last body items and sword.
there is one more tip to know u can tame animal to ride them and the same weapon equipped in the right hand will make X combos , but placed in the left hand will make a different set of combos too
Explore, explore, explore, the more you explore the more likely you are to find enemies/groups that you can take down easy and farm them for cash, resources, and chips. You can also run across different weapons (I've come across a halberd and a spear in the first hour of gameplay). Your not limited to the ground there are items up on top of houses, trees and even some hidden early access side areas that have some fairly decent loot. Don't be afraid to die by jumping off a cliff if your exploring

Me who started 3 days ago (and already finished Route A at 18 hours in)
I went in completely blind on normal and once I saw the storage upgrade for chips and immediately started grinding to get all of them (and to make it easier on my psyche, I went most expensive to cheapest)
Usually more storage is a bad early choice in most games, but I'm the one playing. Let me do what I want.

What I found what works Best for countering. Is instead of waiting for their eyes. Drop that altogether. Just continuously press forward in their direction even before the attack. Same as if you were attacking. But less using the attack button. And more holding down your laser button for projectiles.

LOL didn't try customizing my chips or buy more slots until route C. Really makes the game a lot better
Can someone help me. Im confused. If i die, and go back to my body, do i retrieve or repair it? I retrieved and it says i get my chips back? That means other than chips i have all my stuff alrdy on me when i respawn? Im really confused. And im afraid to click repair,what does that do?

You forgot the most important tip:
*9S CAN USE HEAVY ATTACK*
You have to (tap dodge + square) to enter the heavy attack combo. You can also (spam light attack + wait a little + square) to start heavy attacking.
Everybody says 9s is boring, but his moveset is as complex as 2b. Nobody knows he can heavy attack thought
How do I get to the factory again just after finishing the prologue?
I recovered the dead body from the factory, but the auto heal thing still isn't working. Do I have to turn it on or something?
how come if i die twice and lose my chips, why cant i ever equip them again??? even tho it says i collected them
TIP: to do an air climb press jump immediately followed by heavy attack. Made combat much more satisfying.
