Catch and Cook: EASY Steamed Ginger Scallion WHOLE Fish Drizzled in Soy Sauce
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 май 2019
- On a skiff for some rockfish and lingcod - used a whole jumbo squid as bait and we get on a good bite despite bad conditions with a really strong current - then I make a delicious meal for employees at a nursing home and steam the entire fish whole with ginger, scallions, and braised soy sauce. Enjoy and try it yourself!

Who's had steamed fish before?! Would you make it like this??
I live on the American River, and been fishing trout from the late 60's on, from the small lakes along 80 to the Macks and Kokanee that spawn in August-ish near and around Richardson. Sometime I pan fry, but I love to make a large tin foil pouch, bed of some onion, sliced summer veggies on hand, butter and white wine if avail, rest of the veggies on top and wrap tight, throw in the fire, on the grill or in the oven, my fav.
steam smaller fish, better taste.
@@sunnyguo5429 agreed. also, white pepper over black pepper although it's more of a personal preference
I've steamed and smoked whole fish a few times. I like stuffing them with fresh herbs and lemon/orange. Adds i nice flavor and aroma 👍🏻
Looks delicious
Always liked the videos from the entire NoCal fishing crews, But cooking the fish for a nursing home's staff on Moms day....RESPECT!!!!!
A classic Chinese dish. Simple, healthy and one of the best ways to enjoy fish.
I swear you make these fish dishes look great! Usually don't like seafood, but watching your videos make my brothers and I want to go fishing.
What an amazing day on the water, looked like so much fun! My mother used to make steamed fish like this with a ginger, sugar and soy sauce glaze. Yum!!
That is the TRUE Asian style for cooking fish. Love that way. I do that every time we eat fish.
That was awesome! Very nice of you guys to share with the nursing home.
Love the frequent uploads and also the content, keep it up!
Hey Dan you are killing it out there. Yes we steam fish all the time. We pick out the smaller one to steam though. I believe its call the cantonese style you are making.
Looks like a good day! Fishing on one of those skiffs is a lot of fun, I really miss it. Thanks for making this video! Love steamed rockfish! Looks delicious!

Yeah, hooking some nice ones!
I love steamed fish, here in DA islands we steam A lot of different fish, with A lot of different recipes, including the one you made, I would love to catch and cook a big o'l lingcod, it looked so ono (delicious)🍻
That’s how I like my fish made
Good shit boys. Yeee!
bomb dish
Love the vids man, really love the catch and cooks. We use keitechs a lot down here in San Diego, but I've never rockfished with em! I'll definitely be trying that next time, only thing I was really hoping you would do is switch the red cherry with the grey colored one to see if the fish just happen to hit the bottom rig more than the high rig or was it really a color preference. Tight lines!
I was just fishing at the barbers point beach park over the weekend in Oahu. Was dunking but no fish @fishanddivehawaii
FISH ON BUD! 👌
Love your videos bro. Where do you rent the skiffs out of? Keep putting out the badass content sir!!!
looks more like Philosophy D appreciation day than Mothers day to me, you gonna finish the fish before you give it to them hahaha jk. Cool man, you a good man
Every time my Dad catches a fish lol. My Dad is chinese and loves this style.
I'm from Hawaii and notice that California anglers on RUclips uses a huge piece of fresh bait on their hooks. For folks from Hawaii a whole squid would last for at least a half day. Usually a squid is cleaned and sliced up into strips.
It seems the larger lingcod successfully come out to play with the larger squid, usually we keep it small in strips as well.
My pops uses same fish recipe. Its fire with rice too.
That looks so damn delicious
LOL that giant squid looks so ridiculous! looks hella fun to fish with though.
Have you tried circle hooks for rockfishing? That’s what I use in San Diego and it’s a lot easier to keep em on the hook and not have to worry so much about the hookset.
Add some garlic, cilantro, and pour hot peanut and sesame seed oil over the top to sear it all. Oh man!! Enjoy!!
Dope video bro, buddha bless
You need a TV show deal.
Do people ever drop crab pots from the Santa Cruz rental skiffs? Was thinking of bringing a pot out for some dungies before the season ends
tell us more about the fish head soup ? and what kind of fish can be used ? thanks!
Mother's day these video must be old ..but damn looks good af
Have you tried the keitech in fresh water?
dude just be my boo and cook for me 😍😍😍😍 that's look delicious 👌
what rod where you using with the whole squid?
Where do you get your jumbo squid bait??
do a viewer Appreciation Day, and randomly invite viewers to go fishing, once or twice a month:)...Just food for thought:)
Awesome video brotha! Most Asian markets sell frozen baby octopus for about $9 & about 15 in a pack! You should check it out 🎣
You should’ve recorded the people that were also eating it. I would of wanted to see their reaction!
You ripped his lip off, bro!
Are Ling limits still 1 for you guys up there?? I thought it was increased recently to 2 per person?
nvm. "The daily bag and possession limit is 2 fish, with a minimum size limit of 22 inches total length. "
@@VMykeV I was just looking into this because I was certain I'd seen something that recently stated 2 per person was the new limit. I just tried to find that info and all I saw was everything below humboldt/mendicino area was 1 per person but above mendo its 2...Correct me if I'm wrong please!
Those isopods sometimes eats away the fishes tongue, and ends up acting as the tongue.
just saw the watermark in the corner on my phone haha "want more D"
So...did any of that fish make it to the nursing home staff?
Waiting for a diet and workout plan tho.
You and Justin lOL
I thought Ling Cod is 2 per person?
First btw
Did u rent that little boat from Santa Cruz
Yep
I would so send you a reply Video lol
Why diddnt you buy a giant octapus?
Those parasites you found. Are they the same ones you can use for bait? Sand crabs or sand fleas not sure what ya call em. But I think you or Matts has used them, maybe even eaten them🐚🐌🐙🐞🐛
The isopods found in the gills of these fish are different from the sand crabs (also known as sand fleas) that we use for bait
@@philosophyd
Thanks for the reply . keep killin it out on the water!
11:27 i don't think that's a vermilion. looks like yellow eye rockfish.
Looks like angry catfish
It looks good but don't give it to them lol..eat it all lol.
You ripped a haibut's lip off
