- Biltwell Gringo S ECE Helmet: bit.ly/3j1EnfC
The Biltwell Gringo S is one of the most popular retro helmets on the market today, thanks to its classic style and face shield. The Gringo S ECE is a step forward for this fan favorite, which now carries an ECE rating as well as DOT certification. Brandon takes the improved Gringo S for a spin to get you all the facts.
Add MIPS & a transition shield and I’d pay close to $300 for that helmet.
Also... great little roads. Where is that?
Love my Gringo S, my big head actually fits in the non ECE version. The “new version” not bueno. So all the XXL big heads had to look for other brand helmets.
ECE 22.06? or .05?
I also had to size up.
I have this helmet. This was well worth the money, a really nicely built product. Looks sexy too
Are the speaker pockets sufficient enough to put the Cardo jbl speakers in and not have them jamming into your ears?
The speakers fit, okay. I don't personally have the JBL speakers with my PackTalk bold but I don't think there is much difference in overall size and I was able to make them work fine. They weren't smashed against my ears but they weren't seated in the recessed area perfectly either. -Brandon
RevZilla thank you so much! I have the non Ece gringo and I want a s and I want to put my Cardo on it!
I have the Packtalk Bold in a XL Gringo S ECE. I used the supplied Velcro to attach the JBL speakers to the helmet in the hollow under the mesh speaker pocket. Lots of room. That might be the only thing that just worked for me. The mount with clip does not fit so I had to use the sticky mount and stick it to my helmet. Also the supplied Velcro does not stick to the plastic on the inside of the chin bar so I have the mic wire pulled tight under the check pad pinning the mic to the cheek pad to keep it in place.
Jody Klein dude thank you for all that info! The gringo I have is a xl and I have some room in it. Did you have the non ece and if so did you notice the size difference like lots of the reviews are saying?
I didn’t have a non-ECE Gringo so I can’t compare to that. I can tell you I was wearing a large Bell Custom 500. I ordered a large Gringo S ECE. Sent it back for an XL. Almost considered smaller pads as well, but the pads the XL came with did end up breaking in enough. I would def size up.
I'm usually a size medium with other brands, but initially got the gringo s in large because the cheek pads on the medium were too tight. However I did end up exchanging the large to a medium gringo s and have thinner cheek pads on order. My main reasoning is because I wanted the smaller helmet shell. I felt the large looked too big and bulky on me.
Did this work for you? I wear a large but the helmet looks too bulky on me.
Yup worked great!@@wildaandthebeast8959
thanks for the sizing advice! cheers buddy.
if i wear a large scorpion r1 and i get a gringo should i go to XL then not large or is this just for smaller heads?
Just received the gringo S today from revzilla! You are right on the sizing issue, especially the cheek pads. I got a large and it fits nicely everywhere except for the cheek pads, I have permanent duck lips syndrome. :-) But it is a cool looking lead in all colors, but I got the flat black which is really cool. Great review! Thanks!
You can replace the chin pads with larger or smaller.
It fucking kills my cheeks. Leaves like rug burn just taking it off/putting it on. Too tight. I might try a size up from normal
@@Dest74 Yeah I plan to replace the cheek pads with the next size down but keep the same helmet. Revzilla and Biltwell sell them on their sites.
Where U riding @??
I got 3 of them cuz I like the looks style but it’s super heavy, besides I wear XL but this on XXL which is still super tight..
Good review! Hows the ventilation and viewing through opening ?
Thx mate
Can u kindly share your helmet setup! Audio is awesome!
How do you put your go pro is it Stick to the helmet ?
Awesome review. How did u set up your mic? i cant see one
Can you show and review your bikes?
I have one ordered. I’m stoked.
You should have rode the red ET4.
Portland?
Nice jacket...Reax?
Yeppers! That's the REAX Jackson : www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/reax-jackson-leather-jacket
😂looks like a helmet we used to use back in 1980/81/82 ! Don't use them folks,there junk ! I know ! 😉
They’re great helmets but it doesn’t matter when you are going 55 or faster and you crash. You will be brain dead either way.
@@theflyingbrompton4787 believe me when i say that ,today's helmet are better than that one or those one ! Its called technology my friend 😅😉
The Flying Brompton I crashed in the late 90's on the freeway at about 65, walked away with just a minor scuff on my knee. Body armor works, as does a decent helmet. I wear proper knee armor now, and wouldn't get the knee scuff now.
looks mean nothing. Internal construction is totally different.
You can open it and close it?
That's not a feature.
Ehhhh, there's plenty of "vintage" inspired lids that don't come with a shield at all. A lot of them will have the option to add a shield if desired but they don't always open and close freely. For the vintage/retro lids, a shield that opens & closes, and more or less locks into place with the snap on the side - I don't have any problems saying this is a "feature" when it's directly related to this style helmet. Feature: "a distinctive attribute or aspect of something." Cheers! -Brandon
RevZilla - Well said!😎
Gringo?
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
