- I recently purchased a Biltwell Gringo S helmet and wore it on a 21 day / 8000km road trip. I experienced a few issues with the helmet and wanted to share my experience to those of you considering purchasing one. In summary, it's a cool looking ,cheap helmet however it's not really suited to long distance / high speed riding. Thanks for watching Dan & Leisa
I did have the same issue and ended up selling the gringo and got a new helmet , the shoei glamster , safer and way more comfortable. Shoei or bell are the way to go

These helmets are extremely small sized made for alien oval heads. I test fitted from my local store a (L) and was a able to put on even a (M) albeit tight on an Arai Regent-X (59-60cm).
So I orded the Gringo S online (L), I can't even put it in past my eyebrows.
@@dexterlua1204 yeah I ended up getting the 5ml cheek pads and it makes all the difference. It’s a weird shaped helmet 🤷♂️

BILTWELL GRINGO SV is incredible - the pads i got were 15mm pads - I called them and they sent you new ones for free.
@@rubengarciajr that’s great 👌 I ordered some 5mm from the states. Shipping cost more than the cheek pads but the helmet now fits😂😂

Everything is said. I think that the shoei glamster, with a less vintage look, and less cheap is a better choice for long distance. Thanks for the revue.
Yeah I was going to buy the Glamster but chose this one in the end. I think your right👍
May I ask the size of helmet if in fact the helmet is a size large what is your selling price if you are willing to sell Thank You Cheers
Hey mate I think it its a large but I want to check out the 5mm cheek pads first. I think it will fit nicely with these and hopefully be OK. If not I'll let ya know👌
I have three shoei , two agv and some open faces , shoei is my pick by far for touring or higher speeds . But I am wondering if you are getting screen buffeting, obviously you don't notice buffeting much when using a open face. Have you tried riding the Biltwell without your screen mounted ?? I have a HD windsplitter I only use in winter, on my RKS and I get some buffeting on all the full face helmets.
Good point. I’ll get 5mm cheek pads and remove the screen. Worth a shot 👍
@@eastcoasttrippers8744 i don’t like screens for this reason , I only use them in winter or long highway rides . I have a taller one as well but for my height 5.10 but it was worse buffeting , to be honest it is for a taller rider . It is difficult to get a perfect size screen reading all the web content. Can’t understand why HD didn’t put a movable screen like Indian and gold wing on the new models, they must be making to much $$$ on selling different screens to us

The wife and I have ended up only using our open face helmets when touring... we kinda like the old school communication... hesitant in going to n helmet coms and music, we also can't hear the bikes sound system through the speakers when wearing the full face.. I've done the opposite to what most do...I blast around town with the full face...staying incognito whilst making noise and ripping through the streets and the open face for when I really want to enjoy the scenery. Good review... I've been looking getting one of these as I too love that retro look...might give it a miss.
@@aussiebodie yeah I agree with what you’ve said. Tend to get a lot of negative comments on socials regarding open face. Each to their own I say🤟
What speed does the helmet start to get noisey? I'm riding a Honda Ruckus and looking for a full face helmet, does is make noise under 40 mph?
You’ll probably be fine mate. But you could do better if you look around I guess✌️

I was gonna get the Shoei Glamster but ended up with the Biltwell. Leisa wants the headset but not me✌️
I don’t understand you pay over $20.000 and more for your bike and you can’t spend a $1000 on a good helmet for your head safety first people cheers
