If you've been in a car accident, there's a good chance that you'll be afraid and you'll have lost a good portion of your driving confidence. I got into an accident 2-3 weeks ago, and I’ve only driven once since then. I just got back from spring break and i have to drive to school tomorrow, Im having a hard time because i have really bad anxiety and i feel at fault. You’re not alone.

@@peterprall857 same happened to me tonight when i was overtaking on a highway with steep curve and right in that lane someone put 2 big stones in the left side of lane...i had time to slow down and change but there's vehicles coming from other lane so to avoid Collison frm back by sudden braking i drove past on them at 80kmh...both of the side tyres bursted instantly...thankfully the car didn't lose control...otherwise our family of 5 would have died right there...i feeling so traumatic about that and feeling i should not drive again....it was my fault to not slow down

I came to this video today because I just had a car accident and feel ashamed. I’m writing this comment to remind anyone involved in a car accident that accidents happen and teach us to do better. It’s ok to feel sad, angry and ashamed, but don’t let it stop you from driving. Let’s be real : driving is a complex task that requires experience, theory, focus and knowledge of the ruled on the road. The more we practice, the better we will become and sometimes, an accident needs to happen in order to never do our mistake again.

I got my license last week and I was so happy. Anyways I had an accident today and I am so angry with myself it’s just so discouraging,I keep thinking of what I could have done to avoid it but I panicked. It’s just so frustrating

@@trissakazel9483 I forgot I even made this comment. I just want to offer some sort of encouragement. It definitely gets better. I realized that there’s tons of terrible drivers, but they have the courage to drive.
I was afraid of the highway and the roads in general, but in January I decided to just face it. I took a couple more driving courses and got back on the road. You’ve got this!!! The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel behind the wheel.
I had a wreck back in August and I feel like I have to relearn everything, I don’t trust myself,
I got in an accident a couple of weeks ago. I recently got my license about 3 months ago and I was driving my brothers car at that time. It was 100% my fault and I rear ended the car in front of me. I still feel so anxious knowing that soon I have to go to college and I have to drive, but I just can’t trust myself again to drive. Hi, I know exactly how you feel same thing happened to me yesterday and all I can think about is just what happened it is emotionally and mentally exhausting to be stuck in this situation and to think back at it, and I’m really glad I found someone to relate to I’ve been a constant mess and I just don’t know how I can function anymore or even interact with people because inside I just feel that no one can relate or everyone would judge me physically I just have the energy to be around people. I’m so sorry you went through this and hope you’re recovered or are recovering mentally and physically.

I'm 19 and I got into an accident last week and I was too hesitant now to drive. I can't even take the scent of the car. I tried driving again, and it feels like driving the first time all over again. Its like I lost knowledge about driving. I was anxious and don't have the right visions when to stop or how wide our car on the road.

Same thing happened with me. Learning to drive a car and then I bumped into another car. No one was hurt but still I had to bear loss of ₹25k. Now I don't think I will try to learn again soon.
Got rear ended 4 days ago totaled my car. Today I drove again. Just city streets, not yet freeway. I was nervous but made myself drive if even for a little bit. One errand. I know the only way my subconscious is ever going to be on board is if I show myself it’s safe to drive by doing it. I knew that if I kept waiting too scared to drive it won’t ever get better. I just pushed through. You can do it. Take it slow. I believe in you!

yesterday this dude pulled out it front of me and i ran into him and now i'm really scared to drive again... it's wasn't that bad we were both fine but they're gonna total my car and i don't want to total another
I got rear-ended about two weeks ago. So terrified to drive. I did manage to drive on the highway and felt ok. I was doing the speed limit, but people were going around me. So I just kept at the limit and felt ok. Great video.

Yes this is exactly what I needed I got in a car accident in 2015 and the car flipped like 6 times and cars kept coming because they couldn’t see us it was so foggy and after that day I’ve just been scared to learn how to drive :( I’m 20 and don’t even know how

i got into an accident last week and my car was totaled. it wasn't my fault, car turned in front of me and now my issue isn't really trusting myself but its trusting the many other cars that drive by me. after the accident its just crazy to me how we trust other cars with our lives to not hit us

I feel so ashamed … i had two accidents in less than 2 years. My first wasn’t my fault but there were no proof or witnesses so my insurance company had to pay for my totaled car, and price went up. Second one was two weeks ago, this time it was my fault and I don’t know if my car will get fixed or not at this moment. I’m the only one in my family who got into many accidents and now i feel so ashamed of myself. Not only accidents but also have flattened my tire and accidentally scratched my in-laws car and etc… 😩😭

I am a Brit living in Thailand. I got my license 4 months ago. I've had 4 minor accidents (One was a wall - of course it was the wall's fault! ;-) ) I lost muy confidence to a greater or lesser extent after every accident, even though my Thai friends and relatives take the view that accidents are a part of life....... What the guy in the video says is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! You have got to get back out there and start driving again ASAP. I also agree that it's a good idea to start with known, low challenge routes and then work your way up. Good video mate! Now going to watch a couple of vidoes on defensive driving techniques.

I’m 22 and have major driving anxiety. This isn’t only embarrassing that I don’t have a license but inconvenient since I live in the suburbs. I failed my road test the first time and once got a fender bender and another time a flat tire. I was starting to make progress until the pandemic happened and I haven’t been able to make progress since. Any advice on overcoming this fear and becoming a safe, responsible driver would be super appreciated.

I got into 2 car Accidents totaling both cars within three months, first accident the other driver was 100% at fault but still it scared me to death, I guess I tried driving too soon with still so much anxiety and then totaled my moms car and I’m sure it was my fault I feel so embarrassed but mostly guilty.

Im 17 and got my license a month ago and today i was going to Publix with my friend after the gym and didn’t pay attention and crashed my moms car i feel like I betrayed their trust even though they told me that i mattered the most i don’t wanna drive anymore I destroyed her car. I was sitting at the traffic light waiting for it to change when an 18 wheeler slammed into the side of my vehicle totaling it. This happened last year January. I still have anxiety while driving especially near 18 wheelers.

I was in two car accidents back in March (one last year when I was a passenger and one this year while I was driving through an intersection) & ever since the 2nd one I’ve had anxiety about driving. I don’t want to get into another car accident and I get very nervous around intersections and other cars, even if I’m not the one driving. I know I have to get back behind the wheel and build my confidence back up but I’m scared.
I have exactly what you describe at 2:22, I was rear ended at 50kmph whilst stationary at a traffic light by some knob who apparently didn’t see the light was on red and failed to slow down in time. Now I’m constantly checking my rear view mirror and paranoid about what’s behind me. I will try your advice hope it works!

I took an Uber 4 years ago & the driver slept while driving, our car hit the side lane simply crashing, thankfully we did not get hurt but it caused a huge trauma. I was literally shaking. I am soo afraid to drive.. I am still learning

I use to be a super confident driver I had some close calls and I learned from them I got very comfortable driving over the speed limit excessively my accident happened because I was following too closely and not paying as much attention to the car in front of me They break checked me and I have been off the road for a whole year now I’m getting back into it but I have to drive to work and commute through very packed and aggressive ATL traffic

Last summer I had a very terrible accident on the highway. I was alone in the car and the traffic in front of me stopped so when I got very close I broke super hard and someone from behind crashed into me. I was lucky I didn’t get hurt but I got a minor concussion after the accident. My city driving is fine but on the highway I am always told to drive up to 100km/h which is what my dad told me but I’m still scared. Any thoughts of what I could do if I drive during difficult driving situations?
I had already 2 accidents
1st accident when I was 8 years old
I started to drive scooty so young that I speeded up and hit the damn wall
I got my right leg injured.
2nd accident happened today
Now I am 16, I was driving to the wide area(safe) and then this man turned his scooty from nowhere and it hit my scooty. Surely its his mistake becoz he turned without using an intigator in the start . He used the intigator so suddenly. And boy if this was a case surely I would be punished becoz I am under aged to drive. But mistakes makes you a better man.
Now I will drive more defensively

Why do bumps tense me up I use to love driving but I had a bad panic attack and didn’t realize cause it didn’t feel like it cause I’ve had previous ones but it happen months ago and now when I drive I feel very tense hitting bumps a lot of the time
I scrapped my wall reversing out on ice and the bumper came off. It was cosmetic damage only luckily as I skidded but I’m so scared to drive incase anything happens again

i know the feeling, today i took my girlfriend to her house and i was in neutral rolling backwards so i could park out of the gateway. I was talking to my girlfriend so i didnt pay attention to my left mirror and even tho i went like 1km/h i scratched my and another person car. i feel shit

I had a close call earlier today...ended up going right through a yield sign not even paying attention to the road. I remember seeing the ladies face, just panic and anger.
I probably traumatized her because she almost hit me. I feel so stupid now and dont think I should drive anymore because I dont want to hurt others. I've had a couple close calls before this, luckily no accidents.
I've learned from my mistakes though, and am striving to pay attention and focus much more while driving in order to avoid this.

I had my first accident today. It was very minor. The other driver was 100 % at fault. After the collision for like 30 minutes I was shocked at how did the other driver made that mistake. However I know I did the best that could have been done to minimize the damages and to be honest I haven't lost one bit of my driving confidence really.

@@slenda704 It had absolutely no impact on me. First because I knew I had absolutely no fault and secondly I have come to fully accept that being on the road it always involves the probability of someone making a mistake so grave it ends your life no matter how skilled you think you are. But if you watch closely there is risk everywhere even if you don't drive but we voluntarily accept to move on. So hop in the car and get on the road as soon as possible this is my advice to you my friend.
Bumped into a van today. He was delivering parcels, so the back of the van was sticking out. I saw it, and moved to the middle of the road to go around, but a car on the other side was coming and didn’t seem to be slowing down. Turned to give them room and went right into the back of the van. Its so annoying. Was my fault, but if he’d been parked properly I’d of had plenty of room. No damage to his van, but my car got damaged. Haven’t even passed my test yet, and now I don’t want to. Still got a month before the test date, so maybe by then I’ll be comfortable again.

Bruh I was fine after my accident, until using a different car a branch knocked off my mirror in a being tailgated, blind turn, can't see other lane, no win situation. That's what put my confidence in the gutter since the first time my steering went bad and forced me into a guard rail and bounced me into an oncoming truck. My luck just sucks

I caused a car accident 2 days ago. I’m not necessarily having confidence issues. I just feel horribly guilt and ashamed. I’m having a hard time forgiving myself. My mom paid $13k for my car. We spent like 2 months getting it because we had car salesman problems. I crash the damn thing not even 5 months later. The car is mostly likely not fixable. I don’t know how to come back from this.
