3DS also breathed fresh new life into franchises like Pokemon and Fire Emblem. Pokemon wasn't in danger of dying, but I think X&Y brought a lot of old players back to the franchise that has bailed after gens 2 or 3. Fire Emblem was literally going to die if Awakening did poorly and hot damn did it not do poorly. And then Fates even outsold it, now FE is one of nintendo's flagships and I am so thankful for that
Awakening needed to sell 250k copies to keep the series going, and literally only one game in the series hasn't hit that mark, Thracia 776. Fire Emblem wasn't really dying, it just wasn't marketed as heavily as other flagship Nintendo series until recently, hence the lower sales. The first time most people, myself included, were introduced to Fire Emblem was from Smash Bros - we've never seen nor heard of the games being promoted outside of Smash even though they were still coming out with new ones, and that was the problem.
The current fire emblem series had a split fanbase mode due to that weaboo simulator mode and the uncensoring hell that went into it. I want advanced wars back at least their wasn't any of that gahbage in those games.
I liked StreetPass a lot, just the thought that as I'm walking around town my 3DS is communicating with other 3DS' swapping our data. However a lot of the games just felt like a chore to play or just got boring quickly. The Animal Crossing feature was amazing being able to visit other people's homes but eventually when you're picking up like 16 people, you just can't be bothered to see what they've got going.

Bruh. It's a fucking kids game. Like smash, Mario kart, new super Mario Bros are games made for all ages. One glance at Yoshi's new island and u CAN TELL it's a kids game. It isn't made to appeal to grown ass men, it's for your daughter. You can tell that much from the art style. Criticisms like that are the only ones from Scott that annoy me lol I love him to death but bruh ur not a 10yr old girl, some of these games aren't being made for u anymore chief I'm not saying all Nintendo titles are only for kids, but some definitely are. They released another new revision like six months ago I definitely feel you on the New models, I love the custom face plates, but Xenoblade Chronicles for hours at a time gives me crazy finger pain after 5 years of using an XL. I never got why people are losing their shit over Nintendo's choice to continue to support 3DS. It has a huge install base, and they don't want to just drop that.
You can tell just how much Scott has improve by watching this video. This is still fun, but the newest ones are so much more interesting, funny, charismatic, and well edited. Bravo sir.

It's May, 2021. 3DS has been discontinued. I have a 3ds, 3ds xl, and a new 3ds xl. And you can pry them from my cold, dead hands. I love my Switch and all, but the 3DS is by far THE best handheld out there. It's my favorite games and my favorite way to play, outside of PC. I'll never not want to play my 3DS or get rid of them.
It’s 2023 and I still play my 3DS regularly… it’s modded and has 100s of classic games but even still I never owned one as a kid and I love this console so much
I remember getting my 3ds Christmas 2011. It was the Super Mario 3D Land bundle which came with a nice red 3ds and super Mario 3d land preinstalled. Then Christmas last year I got a ps4 and completely neglected the thing I've spent so much time on. Just goes to show how easy things get replaced
I absolutely love the 3DS. It has such a good library of games. My favorite is Mario Golf: World Tour. This was an impressive and complete Mario sports package with an excellent roster of characters and my favorite DLC Nintendo has done so far. Other goodies included Super Smash Bros., Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mario Party: Star Rush, and Super Mario 3D Land. I also got a kick out of other, less popular games, like Mario Sports Superstars and New Super Mario Bros. 2. By the way, thank you for saying NSMB2 was a good game. 😊 I agree with you on the eShop selection. The Game Boy library was brilliant, and there were some fun exclusives, like Pokedex 3D Pro and Kirby Fighters Deluxe. I am happy that the Nintendo 3DS is still alive.
I never really had 3DS games so I’d constantly play DS games on 3DS and before anyone says “ WHY NOT JUST PLAY DS AT THAT POINT “. I had a DS lite, 3 actually, don’t ask why😂😂. But when the 3DS came out I just had to buy it.
Yeah it was really good including raid mode as well as the campaign it was pretty solid , Resident evil was something I think they should’ve included more as it works well on the 3ds however when they made the mercenaries the missions were acc tragic , only worth it for the multiplayer
You should've known that in 3d land you can hit L + R + Start (or L + R + Select) and it soft resets the game. It's a lot faster than going to the home menu every time.
My parents bought me my original 3ds for my 6th birthday, August 31, 2011. It was the red version which is probably why red is, to this day, my favorite color. Recently, I’ve been playing Mario Kart DS, and today I decided to take a look at the photos I had taken in the years prior, and I found gold. I spent over 30 minutes just looking at videos and pic tures 6-9 year old me had taken. And, after looking at a younger me being excited about getting a new stylus for my 3ds after having lost my original stylus, me taking pictures of my little sister, and me taking pictures of my parents, I felt different. Like others, I think about younger me as this dumb kid who didn’t know anything, but looking at these pictures and videos has changed my perspective on that. I find an oddly satisfying sense of happiness in looking at those old pictures, the close ups of my sister’s face, my old babysitter’s dog who had recently passed away, and even pictures of just my parents together again brought me enough joy to bring me to the brink of tears. Innocence should not be viewed as a sign of weakness, but rather as a sign of true happiness. And I have come to realize all this from revisiting my 3ds. I only wish I had taken more pictures, more videos, of those times of happiness and innocence. So, if you have made it this far in my comment, find something, anything that has old pictures or videos of you. May it be a phone, camera, photo album, or like my, your 3ds. Just know that you’ll be a little happier today if you do. :)
@Dreyness It takes like 2 hours at most to get over it because the game is so fantastic. I remember having a great many hand-cramps but the game is worth it and so well-done outside of that 1 flaw. The gameplay is fantastic but even better than that the story and characters are better than any other Nintendo franchise/series.
MrDmoney156 The Vita should've been awesome, but developers didn't know whether to develop "handheld" games or "console" games because of less-than-stellar marketing (it's a bit more complex than that, but that's the gist). The Switch seems to be fixing that problem, and hopefully things keep going that direction.

Because i loved the Vita and want to see some actual good games out of it but because when the device first launched sony ONLY advertise about like two games and the device itself and that was it throughout that ONE spanning year! Now if you look at the Japan side of things, you see a shit TON of commercials of the Vita AND the PlayStation TV over there! But yet Nintendo seems to get this down perfectly in the west somehow in comparison. If only Sony of America took the investment, budget (and the secret weapon) *LOVE and CARE* then perhaps i would still have kept my Vita handheld to this day.
The 3DS can play DS games and is more powerful than the DS and most of the good GBA games are on virtual console on the 3DS so there really isn't any question on which of the 3 is the best one.
Will never forget the seeing the aqua blue 3ds at best buy with pilot wings demo, and playing it and having my mind blown. That whole summer me, my older bro, and our friend all got a 3ds and all played ocarina of time 3d. Truly one of the most special systems in my heart.
The 3DS is a fantastic system, I got it a few months after launch (Yes I am an ambassador ) A fantastic library and still play mine at work. My favorite games are Yo-Kai Watch, Dead Or alive dimensions and Xenoblade , plus many more
I have never played my 3DS with the 3D slider down, I do occassionaly slide it down and back again to make it pop even more. I don't understand how people didn't like it so much. I have never experienced any eye pain people kept loudly complaining about but then again I'm someone who can view magic eye books immediately from any distance comfortably so my eyes are used to focusing not at the surface. I am always in awe of the 3D, I am a massive fan of 3D, it adds a whole dimension over 2D while also not being as difficult to comprehend as 4D, they chose a perfect balance. I'm sorry to hear, person who's eyes hurt after using the 3DS, that your childhood sucked so much you didn't have magic eye books. I have been getting back into 3DS after a month in hospital and been buying a lot of games through ebay now I can get them for around £5
I like how he ends it saying nintendo killed the 3ds to start working more on the switch, while to this day the 3ds is still getting new games and its most recent first party title I KNOW OF is a port of Kirbys epic yarn in 2019, and after he made this video, that november the new 2ds xl released.

3DS is probably my favorite system to date. So many fantastic games, including the Metroid game that was announced after this video.

I agree with you on the eShop selection. The Game Boy library was brilliant, and there were some fun exclusives, like Pokedex 3D Pro and Kirby Fighters Deluxe.
I am happy that the Nintendo 3DS is still alive.
I never really had 3DS games so I’d constantly play DS games on 3DS and before anyone says “ WHY NOT JUST PLAY DS AT THAT POINT “. I had a DS lite, 3 actually, don’t ask why😂😂. But when the 3DS came out I just had to buy it.

Yeah it was really good including raid mode as well as the campaign it was pretty solid , Resident evil was something I think they should’ve included more as it works well on the 3ds however when they made the mercenaries the missions were acc tragic , only worth it for the multiplayer

You should've known that in 3d land you can hit L + R + Start (or L + R + Select) and it soft resets the game. It's a lot faster than going to the home menu every time.
My parents bought me my original 3ds for my 6th birthday, August 31, 2011. It was the red version which is probably why red is, to this day, my favorite color. Recently, I’ve been playing Mario Kart DS, and today I decided to take a look at the photos I had taken in the years prior, and I found gold. I spent over 30 minutes just looking at videos and pic tures 6-9 year old me had taken. And, after looking at a younger me being excited about getting a new stylus for my 3ds after having lost my original stylus, me taking pictures of my little sister, and me taking pictures of my parents, I felt different. Like others, I think about younger me as this dumb kid who didn’t know anything, but looking at these pictures and videos has changed my perspective on that. I find an oddly satisfying sense of happiness in looking at those old pictures, the close ups of my sister’s face, my old babysitter’s dog who had recently passed away, and even pictures of just my parents together again brought me enough joy to bring me to the brink of tears. Innocence should not be viewed as a sign of weakness, but rather as a sign of true happiness. And I have come to realize all this from revisiting my 3ds. I only wish I had taken more pictures, more videos, of those times of happiness and innocence. So, if you have made it this far in my comment, find something, anything that has old pictures or videos of you. May it be a phone, camera, photo album, or like my, your 3ds. Just know that you’ll be a little happier today if you do. :)

He ordered the game online but got sent the European version, meaning it was sitting on his shelf and not being able to play it.
@Dreyness It takes like 2 hours at most to get over it because the game is so fantastic. I remember having a great many hand-cramps but the game is worth it and so well-done outside of that 1 flaw. The gameplay is fantastic but even better than that the story and characters are better than any other Nintendo franchise/series.

MrDmoney156 The Vita should've been awesome, but developers didn't know whether to develop "handheld" games or "console" games because of less-than-stellar marketing (it's a bit more complex than that, but that's the gist). The Switch seems to be fixing that problem, and hopefully things keep going that direction.
Forte Cyveria I agree! Because i loved the Vita and want to see some actual good games out of it but because when the device first launched sony ONLY advertise about like two games and the device itself and that was it throughout that ONE spanning year!
Now if you look at the Japan side of things, you see a shit TON of commercials of the Vita AND the PlayStation TV over there!
But yet Nintendo seems to get this down perfectly in the west somehow in comparison.
If only Sony of America took the investment, budget (and the secret weapon) *LOVE and CARE* then perhaps i would still have kept my Vita handheld to this day.
The 3DS can play DS games and is more powerful than the DS and most of the good GBA games are on virtual console on the 3DS so there really isn't any question on which of the 3 is the best one.

Will never forget the seeing the aqua blue 3ds at best buy with pilot wings demo, and playing it and having my mind blown. That whole summer me, my older bro, and our friend all got a 3ds and all played ocarina of time 3d. Truly one of the most special systems in my heart.
I got the blue 3DS for Christmas when it came out, I still got it and it still works. I put so much time into that system 🙃

The 3DS is a fantastic system, I got it a few months after launch (Yes I am an ambassador ) A fantastic library and still play mine at work. My favorite games are Yo-Kai Watch, Dead Or alive dimensions and Xenoblade , plus many more

I have never played my 3DS with the 3D slider down, I do occassionaly slide it down and back again to make it pop even more. I don't understand how people didn't like it so much. I have never experienced any eye pain people kept loudly complaining about but then again I'm someone who can view magic eye books immediately from any distance comfortably so my eyes are used to focusing not at the surface. I am always in awe of the 3D, I am a massive fan of 3D, it adds a whole dimension over 2D while also not being as difficult to comprehend as 4D, they chose a perfect balance.
I'm sorry to hear, person who's eyes hurt after using the 3DS, that your childhood sucked so much you didn't have magic eye books.
