I'm gonna say, many don't like being loaded into their travelling cages at home, if the owner didn't get them used to it. But wanting to get back into it after a vet or grooming procedure- seen that often, my kitty was like that too. : )
At home, my cats always resist getting into the crate so I can take them to the vet. Once at the vet, they always resist getting out of the crate. To everyone who might be wanting a lykoi/werewolf cat: the mutation that causes the hairlessness is directly tied to horrible skin conditions. The look is due to smaller hair follicles, which in turn makes it easier for pimples, cysts, and other skin issues to occur. It's similar to scottish folds, in the sense that when these health issues are corrected for and bred out, the cats no longer have the signature look. I say this not to guilt anyone, but as this is a relatively new breed with not as much information available, I just want folks to be informed of the issues these cats have, and hopefully we can spare them the needless suffering their breed brings.
@@Solomon0424Very much so since this is an issue that you cant simply find a responsible breeder for seeing as it would not longer be that breed if you fixed the health issues anyway.

@@carynn3496Did you read what the comment above you said? They are SUPPOSED to have bad skin health, that's what the breed is suppossed to be like. It's like saying you will look for a well bred pug.
Lykoi also get skin lesions and abrasions as they get older - bumps and pus and stuff. The same mutation that gives them their distinctive look gives them painful skin issues too. This wasn't mentioned in the video, but it is a huge issue for lykoi. As cool as the werewolf cat is, it is probably better for the breed to look less werewolfish and have that bred out of them so they can live happier, healthier lives.

Yeah, I’m always iffy about breeding and breeders, it’s unnecessary, puts the cats in vulnerable positions and conditions that they normally wouldn’t have. I know most breeders love their cats, however it’s not okay to play with genetics just based on the fact they don’t ask for this.
Yes, it's literally a skin disease called lymphocytic mural folliculitis and the hair loss is due to inflammation. I feel really bad for these kitties. I wonder if their skin is painful or itchy even before they start developing outward signs of disease (other than the obvious hair loss).
I had a 2 week old partially Lykoi kitten come wandering out of the tall weeds near my place 2 1/2 years ago. I bottle fed him until he was finally weaned. He eventually grew out of the full Lykoi look so I know he's only partly Lykoi. He has very sleek black fur now but it's still incredibly thin & he sheds far more than my MaineCoon cat. He can mat a brush up in just a minute! He doesn't really meow either, just kinda squeaks. Very intelligent & very social. I live in the southern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia & the original Lykoi cat was found just over a decade ago in Southwestern VA & then shortly after that in Eastern Tennessee. I love Lykois, they're such a unique cat. If I recall correctly, their fur is like that because it's missing the softer, downy undercoat most cats have, leaving only the stiffer and more bristly overcoat. As a relatively new breed it's uncertain (to my knowledge) if there are any health effects that coincide with the mutation that causes this hair loss. Neat cats for sure!
The mutation causes smaller hair follicles and pores, this is why the hair is either thin or entirely gone. Sadly small follicles doesn’t mean hair doesn’t grow at all; many times there will be ingrown hairs. A lot of them.
They tend towards skin problems. The more dramatic the bald patches / the less fur they have overall, the worse the skin problems. I know this doesn't sound bad, but think huge puss filled sores the owner needs to drain (or else they'll get bigger), all over the cats body. This also isn't a maybe, this happens to all of them, just varying degrees of how baf. idk. I wouldn't want to own a cat like that but to each their own.

Mondo is stunning! Those eyes! I love the way he moves like a true night creeper.
When you rinsed him and he started yelling I lost it. ‘You have moistened me. Stop it.’ He was polite about it though!
I love this breed of cat, their odd looks make them adorable!
