Gary Moore is one of my all-time favorite guitar heroes. He’s criminally underrated in the US.
i agree, him and alvin lee vastly underrated, never got their proper credit, for over 50 yrs ive enjoyed them as mch as any guitar great (xcept hedrix, hes on his own level)...
100%
Check out Phil and Tommy Emmanuel. Without doubt the most talented brother guitarist pairing that the world has seen so far. Either of them were amazing to see live, but as a duo they were as good as you could possibly get.
no hes not get a grip
@@PaulyV56 I’m saying he’s not a household name, and he should be, therefore he’s underrated. Most people in the US have never even heard of him. Are you saying Gary Moore sucks? Or that he should not be more well known? I don’t get where you’re coming from.
Guitar is the driving force behind MOST blues music. Gary was a guitar God. If you ever watch him play live, he plays many with his 1st and 2nd finger. he can do more with 2 fingers than most with 5. Rest in peace to a legend.
i wanted to get in to their reactions, but brad is just too ignorant on most any music, granted its new to him, but doing what they are doing they should have some general knowledge on various types and eras of music. final straw was him saying he didnt realize there was guitar playing in blues. guess he will make his money off this with his partners cute reactions...
@@robertlavorna2968 That's not being ignorant, that's unknowing. Knowing that guitar is very crucial and essential to blues does seem common knowledge, but not important knowledge that you need in your life. Also, not everyone has the same interests in life, and sometimes you don't pick on something that is very common knowledge, and clearly Brad doesn't have any strong interest in music more than just enjoying it, and he's definitely not alone in the world. I even think some people watching reactions could be interested in seeing a person go from no knowledge to learn about things. But all in all, how can you get angry at someone not knowing something?
@@Speckhuggarn not angry, not knowing is ignorance, its not being detrimental to him, theres a big difference in calling someone stupid and someone ignorant. ignorant isa a lack of knowledge, i just think if you are doing what they do, they would take some time to gain a bit of knowledge of the the different eras of music. i really just watched cause i love the song, and was curious as there are other very young people i enjoy learning and appreciating the past.
I was lucky to see him live twice. Both shows were magcial to say the least!
@@robertlavorna2968 to be fair it seems to me you're ignorant of what a reaction video is about, it's about hearing it for the very 1st time without any prior knowledge of what you're listening to, and to that end you get a true, honest reaction.
Gary's a great singer/songwriter/musician. He performed blues, hard rock, heavy metal, and jazz fusion. You'll love his "Parisienne Walkways"
Definitely! They also need to check out "Empty Rooms".
@@playbassken Or "Nuclear Attack" to see how wide a net he cast!
@@hmpz36911 yes!
@@playbassken They should do Blood of Emeralds!
"What Are We Here For" is another really surprising one.
The look on Brad's face during that solo tells you EVERYTHING about this song❗
You just listened to one of the finest guitarists ever to play said instrument. You are so right! He was generational, like Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Winter. The music flowed through him and into his guitar.
Too bad none of em are as cool as Jimmy Page 🤘🏼
Gary Moore , one of the greatest guitarists ever, for me he is number one. Maestro , we all miss you but Heavens have great jam ! More of Gary Moore please ?!
I’m with you! You nailed describing him! So sadly missed!!
A great Irish artist for St Patrick's day, thanks, watching from Ireland.
HAPPY St. PATRICK'S DAY, From all the way over in Cali💗
Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ ☘️
You do realise he`s a Prod ? he might not identify as Irish.
@@telstar4772 yeah, that stupid sh1t, all it takes to make a prod is a bad Catholic, and as far as I'm concerned this island is Ireland, therfore Irish, it's a bit like men identifying as women, claims that just aren't factually true no matter how much they protest, especially when they they also identify as protestants, they'd protest anything, it's in the name, protest ant. Dictionary definition, one who protests.
Vivian Campbell is another great guitarist for St. Patrick's Day .
Gary Moore was a guitar god. You missed an opportunity here though, the live version of this (just search, it's the one with the most viewed, from some time in the 90s) is a masterpiece.
Know for making the guitar cry.
You need to check out the live video of The Messiah Will Come Again. One of the greatest guitar performances of all time
This, this, and thrice this!!!
100% this!
Way back in 1990 i saw him live and The Messiah was the last encore he played and he did it with such passion and also lots of improvisation!
Seriously. Best I’ve ever heard.
Blues music is pretty much based on the guitar, and the harmonica. Many of the greatest guitarist have a deep blues basis in their playing. Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, Roy Buchanan, Robin Trower, Joe Perry, Angus Young, Robert Johnson and Gary Moore are all blues men at heart.
"Out In The Fields", "Empty Rooms", "Friday On My Mind", "Thunder Rising" and the instrumental "The Loner" are pretty good too..
Indeed! Also, "The Messiah Will Come Again" or "Oh, Pretty Woman." He was a ferocious player! Been a huge fan since I heard "Corridors of Power" back in '82.
@@thelowe6393 Also "Still In Love With You", and "The Black Rose".
weak choice

Guys, you just listened to one of the true all-time great guitarists of rock and blues music. The live version of this track is just off the chart too. God rest his dear soul.
One of the greatest musician's to ever record a song. R.I.P. Gary ❤️
You owe it to yourselves to take a listen to his song called "Blues for Narada" - it is quintessential Gary Moore but it also says everything w/o any lyrics.... Gary was such an emotive guitar player - top 5 on my list for sure !!!!!
Facts
His guitar was CRYING... the blues is IT for me! I'm 62 years old, and I've been listening to blues artists since I was a little girl. Duane Allman's "Please Be With Me" is one of the finest guitar and vocal pieces you'll ever hear...."I sit here lying in my bed, wondering what it was I said that made me change so suddenly, from looking out to being free. And of all the better things I've heard, loving you has made the words and all the rest seem so absurd, but in the end it all comes out, I'm sure. So won't you please read my signs, be a gypsy. And tell me what it is I find deep within me. And because you can't read my mind, please be with me..." Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Life Without You" is another. Otis Rush's "A Fool For You" shows off his incredible gospel voice. Buddy Guy's "Damn Right I Got The Blues" is another. I can lead you guys down a very deep rabbit hole if you'll let me.
Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher were great guitarists. RIP to the both of them on this St Patrick's day.
My English brother in law was friends with both of them. Love to hear the stories of him gigging in England back in the day.
Saw them both live many times.
Rory was a brilliant guitarist. He really could spank that plank.
Disappointed that you didn't watch the video version. Gary is a real pleasure to watch him do his magic live. His vocal is clear, you don't need the lyrics. "Empty Rooms" live version and "Still in Love With You (1 Night in Dublin)" are a good start.
On the other hand, they'd probably have thought it was about drugs or religion or something if they didn't see the lyrics. :P
That classic live version is stunning. I still have that concert on VHS.
He shredded that guitar solo blues style (no song book) and he did not miss one beat when he got back on track at the end. Mind blown 🤯
Gary Moore used to play at my local dance hall/social club (The Grove) when I was a teenager in the late 1960s. At that time he was in a group called Skid Row.
with Brush Shields and Phil Lynott? (Thin Lizzy)
Now there's a memory! I don't think anyone realised how good The Grove was until it was gone.
Gary was truly one of the greats on the guitar. Awesome singer as well. Loving Brad's reaction. Power of the blues bro. :)
Gary was a guitar god. Interesting fact: Gary was one of the 1st guitarist that Ozzy tried to get for his solo band. Gary declined and so Ozzy grabbed Randy Rhoads... Gary played in Thin Lizzy, and had a huge solo career spanning all genres of Rock and blues guitar... Gary was a guitar monster.
I didn't know he was in Thin Lizzy!
Gary Moore is the only solo guitarist to have a mainstream hit song since Hendrix.
Still got the bluess was a mainstream hit in Europe
@@RoverWaters John Mayer?
@@everychannel1025 I forgot Santana
Still very sorely missed by the fans of pure guitar royalty
Love to see Brad smile through an entire song. Them blues will getcha! 💙
I been a serious guitarist for over 50 years... Made good money doin' it in the '80's and '90's...
Many of us players moved Gary Moore into the #1 spot of living guitar players in this genre when SRV passed...
There is one thing though, that Moore always did better than anyone, including SRV... He was the World Master of bending strings...
String bending is kinda the foundation of playing any kind of Blues, Rock, Country guitar....
And Gary Moore was FLAWLESS... Watch all the 'Live' performances you can find, and more importantly listen to them...
Never a weak, over over-bend... The timing on holding his bends... The 'vibrato' or 'wavering' in his bends... Was absolutely perfect...
R.I.P. Gary... And Thanks for the music....
Wade Patrick
Gary moore-the messiah will come again (video version Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990 )
One of my favorite guitarists of all time.
Awesome guitarist and very underated. Sweet melodies and tone. He even turned down the gig with Ozzy because he just left Thin Lizzy and didn't want another toxic situation. Randy Rhoads got the job. ✌❤🇨🇦
Yeah, it was Gary who helped Ozzy connect with Randy.
Lex, that quality of "taking his time over every note" that you mentioned at the end is generally refereed to as 'tone'. It's not as flashy as speed, but good tone is really a hallmark of the best guitar players. It's also hard to teach, since it's much more matter of feeling than technique. If you want to hear guitarists with beautiful tone, try Mark Knopfler (solo or with Dire Straits) or Dave Gilmore of Pink Flloyd.
Yes!! The moment she said that the first person I thought of was Gilmore. They've only done 2 or 3 Dire Straits songs but they've done a bunch of Floyd. She knows David 😀
Moore had tone, feel and speed.
Mark Knopfler is in my opinion top 2 with Jeff Beck.
@@brettkenschaft4239 Or Peter Green.
Yes, Yes, Love me some Gary Moore. Please do Gary Moore and B.B.King - The Thrill is Gone. Two great legends blessing us with their gift.
Absolutely
Great guitar player. He used to play for Thin Lizzy.
As a big Gary Moore fan it pleasures me greatly to see Brad get the guitar's importance to blues and rock with this song. I know Lex has heard a lot of blues but this needs a deeper dive for Brad. As BTO said in your recent listen.....you ain't seen nothin' yet.
the live version is Amazing , one of the best performances ever
Deffo 🎸👌
One of the very best blues guitarists/vocalists ever! I've been waiting for y'all to finally give him a listen, so thank you!
I've been listening to this song most of my life I'm 60 and everytime I listen to it the guitar makes my insides move and waves it just seems like Gary Moore always had that effect with his guitar playing
I saw Gary Moore live 12 times here in Sweden and I would go again to his concerts if he hadn't died too early. A true hardrock/blues legend. R.i.p Gary \,,/
You definitely have to check out Gary Moore live version of the Messiah will come again
I never knew Brad never focused on the guitar. Gary imo is one of the greatest players that can drive your emotions with a guitar. The guitars speaks when he plays. My favorite performance by GM on YT is 'The Messiah will Come Again" live. I can't say I've seen anybody that can make a guitar sound like angels are singing or lift your spirits and brighten your day like Gary.
His name says it all....this man delivered so much more than heartfelt soulful sounds... live and unmasked... there's nobody, repeat nobody similar to Gary Moore !!! Absolutely outstanding musician RIP Gary
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South Florida! Gary Moore can do it all. And he has done it all. Incredible guitar player! And yes Lex there are many different styles of the Blues. You have the delta blues the Chicago Blues the Texas Blues and many other types of Blues music. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
Reading the non stop smile on Brads face, I think he is diggin The Blues! more, more, more....
There's a wonderful live recording of Gary and BB King playing "The thrill is gone". Just magical.
A true Guitar Hero. I think he was in Thin Lizzy for a while, too. That's a band you guys oughta check out (if you haven't already) especially on St. Paddy's Day.
If you love the Blues you must listen to Gary Moore. He was in Thin Lizzy before this. He also has a fantastic song called Parisian Walkways.
Gary Moore is a fine singer but it's his guitar work that expresses his music Moore....😄. U should hear classic blues players like BB King, they squeeze every emotion from just one note. Glad Lex noticed that. And Brad loving the blues!
Congratulations!!! 🎉👏🎉 Brad!!! I saw you disappear for a moment, then I realized you got sucked up into that Guitar Solo.Lol!
I didn't know it until I seen it spit you back out with an ear to ear grin slapped across your face! 😁😁😁 Love you guys!❤️
Love some Gary Moore, he makes Greeny's Les Paul sing! Messiah Will Come Again live is a great one, too.
The greatest guitarist to ever grace this world!
Probably one of the best guitar solos out there!
I agree with some comments below saying you must see live version of "Messiah will come again". In that performance Gary was at his peek with his skill. The way guitar expressing emotions is out of this world, in my humble opinion that is the most complete guitar playing seen live. There is shredding, whaling, harmonies and emotions coming in waves thru all the song. That was the piece of music which made me look in a different way some guitarist, otherwise Gods of guitar, ( Gilmour, Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Clapton, etc.)
RIP Gary..he was a shredder and an awesome blues musician who played with alot of emotion and many a rough times has his music got me through.
Gary implemented his soul into his guitar and his guitar could really cry in this way.
One of the most talented guitarists ever..he makes it look effortless..
live version of the messiah will come again....a guitar genius...RIP Gary
I never get tired of the song. His he had such a great blues voice, and is power blues guitar is unmatched.
Gary Moore's instrumental version of "Parisienne Walkways" is still my ultimate favorite of his! The guitar work is beyond phenomenal and so beautiful.
Interesting that you guys would feature this epic Irishman today of all days. Gary Moore is comparable to none when making his guitar cry in this song. Especially at the end when he squeezes every last tear out of it. Watching him play live is even MORE dramatic and emotional. Such a loss when he passed away, but he left such an indelible mark on music in general, and I for one, am lucky to have experienced it.
Gary Moore is the best guitarist I ever saw live. Other-worldly talent.
I had the pleasure of seeing Gary Moore live in concert back in the '80s. Good times.
Gary was a once in a lifetime talent, from his days with Thin Lizzy to his early solo rock career. One of those songs was Wishing Well.
And his later years of blues is perfect.
This is absolutely one of the best songs ever written...
Gary Moore was one of the Guitar greats. A class act
Yeeesssss! Can't believe you've just reviewed Gary Moore!! One of the greatest guitarists of All time!! He was such an underrated VIRTUOSO GUITARIST!!! COULD PLAY ALL GENRE'S!! HE Was the Guitarist in Thin Lizzy in the 70s!
You should listen to Gary Moore's "Parisienne Walkways"! Amazing Lyrics and even better guitar than this has one of the most legendary Blues Guitar solos of all time in the middle! 👍🎸😎
There's also a great live Blues Performance of Garry Moore and (an Old) 'Albert King' live in concert! Great performance aswell old passing the torch so to speak..(given Stevie Ray Vaughan died) Gary Moore was the next young guitarist of that age and similar ability all be it a different style but all the same VIRTUOSO!!
Ps. I had a feeling Brad would love the Blues!!
Cheers from London England 👍❤️🎸🏴😎
The guitar solo is just beautiful.
Brad and Lex, you guys need to go on a blues pilgrimage to Beale Street in Memphis. I lived outside Memphis for a year and I was there at least every other weekend enjoying some of the best music ever made. Doing a vlog of that trip would be epic to say the least. Plus that Memphis BBQ is no joke.
For pure guitar playing watch Gary perform The Messiah Will Come Again, live at Montreux. This track, Still Got The Blues, was put down live in the studio, and it took just one take. A few background overdubs in the mix, but all the guitars were just Gary in full flow. Enjoy his musical journey. Gary and Scott Gorham playing Thin Lizzy's 'Black Rose' is an amazing live performance, live in Dublin. He was a phenomenal rock guitarist too, along with many other styles. I was lucky enough to see him many, many times over the years, starting with his tour with Greg Lake back in the early 80's. Love your channel guys.
Gary Moore was a great guitar player.
The best.
I've never heard a guitar in as much pain as when it was in Gary Moore's hands
Gary Moore was also in the band Thin Lizzy.. one of the truly great guitarists .
Oh Brad! Gary is my all time favourite guitarist and It was a real pleasure to see you appreciate his playing.
Victims of the Future is one of the best hard rock album you never heard of from the 1980's.
Love that album!.. The title track, " Murder In the Skies", and his phenomenal cover of " Shapes of Things "..
Gary Moore covering Jimi Hendrix Red House is amazing at that Fender Strat 50th anniversary show almost 20 years ago. First time I heard the song
Outshone everyone else there, and got a standing ovation after playing just one track.
In case you didn't realize it, you just heard one of the best electric guitar solos in history.
Gary was a lead guitarist with the British rock band, Thin Lizzy. Gary was an absolutely brilliant guitarist. RIP brother.
It took the powerfully soulful blues guitar solos of Gary Moore to finally melt through Brad's tough outer shell.. Glad you enjoyed it!
As for Gary, please keep exploring his great tunes.. We Want Moore!.. Try "Black Rose" by Thin Lizzy, with Gary on lead guitar..
You have to check out Gary Moore's live version of The Messiah Will Return Again, it's the guitar version of watching Picasso paint. Like watching a real genius at work.
Gary Moore was a master and he really made the guitar like his second voice. Parisienne Walkways and The Loner are also great.
Gary Moore is a guitar legend not only he's from Ireland but Gary Moore is in my life
How great are you guys. What can one say about Gary Moore....genius. Thanks both, brilliant!!! Best wishes from the UK.
Imagine catching a show where Gary Moore opened for Rush ... Yup, was lucky enough to catch that one in 84 in San Francisco!!
Damn you Caruso you lucky SOB. 😆
One of the best "axe-man" ever. His guitar-skills are amazing. He also has been the guitarist of "Thin Lizzy".
This one is just awesome!!! The guitar work by the late, great Gary Moore is absolutely off the charts!
RIP to one of the best guitarists and vocalists ever ❤️❤️❤️ Can't imagine the blues without the sound of a guitar !!!
Gary was the greatest. He has an absolute astonishing instrumental called “The Messiah will come again” live 1990 in Montreaux! It’s not originally from him, but he made it his own and absolutely kills it in that performance. You have to check that one out
Hey! Big Day! Brad liked a guitar-based blues song, on a sonic, emotional level. That is not something he could have done a year ago. Growth. It's a wonderful thing.
One of the best feel players of all time, i tear up to the live version of this song, everytime, it might be one of the best white boy blues songs ever written? Crazy the feel that Les Paul emotes.
Good job Brad. I was smiling too.
Gary Moore was great.
Definitely one of the greatest of all time! RIP GARY✌❤🙏
The strange and wonderful thing about blues music is although it may be a sad song, it has the power to elevate the listener in feeling better about themselves. It's magic music!
one of my favorites is called 'Cold Day in Hell'...cool solo I think that's why I love it
One of greatest guitarist ever. Could play everything from hard Rock and metal to blues.
This Saint Patrick's Day check out his song: over the hills and far away (nothing to do with the led Zeppelin song)
You should see him play it live. A master!
Gary came from Belfast Northern Ireland, 30 miles from where I live and we are so proud of him. Greatly missed by the world of music. One of the best guitarists of all time
Gary Moore was the perfect example of what true talent is. What he played wasn't "technically" outrageous, but the soul and feeling from his hands was just incredible. Another guitarist who made me realize I'm just a guy who "noodles" on the guitar.
Gary Moore is a Goat RIP. Love the smile on Brad's face!
Brad finally responded to a guitar player who is so adept that he actually sings through the voice of a guitar. There's only a few... lot's of wannabes, but few true Improv players so skilled and practiced that they become one with the machine.
Watch the live from Montreaux version, its perfection. Dude was a virtuoso.
Gary's earlier harder rock is more my cup o tea, but he's brilliant regardless of genre.
Rare sight of Brad smiling! If he likes epic guitar solos check out some Yngwie Malmsteen
Lex, you feel that guitar so much, I thought you were going to cry towards the end. 🎸🥰
Now you entered into the Gary Moore corridor an "End of the World" reaction should only be a matter time
