In the mid-1970s, Moore was involved in a bar fight which left him with facial scars. According to Eric Bell, Moore was with his girlfriend at Dingwalls when two men "started mouthing about Gary's girlfriend ... what they'd like to do to her". After Moore confronted them about it, one of the men smashed a bottle on the bar and slashed Moore's face with it. This had a profound effect on him. Bell said, "It did change him. A lot of that pent-up anger and emotion would come out in his playing. And it came out in other ways too. It must be a hard thing to come back from something like that." During the 1980s, he would hide his scars in photographs and videos by looking down or being framed from a distance.
Gary was one of the finest Blues and Rock players to strap on a six string. Gary’s searing tone, melodic phrasing, beautiful vibrato, and endless sustain is unparalleled. Gary left us much too young. Here’s a link to one of his last performances ant Montreaux Jazz festival. This man was, to me, equal to the greatest players of any era. Parisienne Walkways was one of his signature tunes, I hope you enjoy it! Btw, I love this channel!❤ m.ruclips.net/video/FiuQ1EbrT94/видео.html
I have many friends that are guitar players and fellow musicians. I am a drummer of 45 years. I played in lots of bands and done a number of different styles of music. That's my bio. I opened with this because I wanted to say that with age and maturity comes wisdom. Gary Moore has an age and maturity to his playing that is so evident in how he decides to pick his melodic themes and embellish with beautiful the flurries and runs that have a purpose. One of my favorites currently to listen to. Something for us all to shoot for, and few of us will ever achieve. Beautiful tasteful guitar outro solo. Hard to believe he played for so many years doing straight ahead rock and roll. You can hear the rock influence in his blues soloing. I kind of get the feeling that this is the kind of stuff he should have been doing all along. Probably had to make money like the rest of us! Thank you for sharing that with us
There is no conversation needed about how good Gary was at playing guitar but what I find incredible is no one gives him the credit on his vocals he was a fantastic singer and btw this is one of my most favourite songs 👍♥️
Finally You did it. Thank You Graeme Turner, The great!!! - Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues - is one of the songs that i have suggested. It was the ring tone on my phone for a couple of years before I changed it to the 2nd impression of ELP's Karn Evil 9 which is all fantastic piano & no words.
Got to see him live, just once. He opened for RUSH in the mid 80's (I think it was 1984) at The Cow Palace in SF. He was with Thin Lizzy a time or two. You can see him with Thin Lizzy in videos from Sydney Opera House - 1978. He is stage right with the silver jacket.
For me, one of the greatest love songs ever. The passion, the emotion. It's something that, when you've been there, this song brings it straight back like it was yesterday.
Gary was a great blues player but I loved his hard rock/metal albums. “Don’t Take Me For a Loser, Shapes of Things and Ready for Love” are great GM songs.
This live version I have never seen. I totally absolutely love this song, I have never heard the audio only. I never heard this song until all of the video reactions on this all of them live, like I just said this is the first time I saw this live version. Both very very beautiful, Unforgettable. Thank you for this, I very much enjoyed watching you experience this.
This is an iconic song, and other reaction channels reacted to it, and they really dug it! Gary is no longer with us, but as I said before, an artists music will live on! I don't know if this is considered pop blues or what, but it's a great song that reaches and touches your soul! The lyrics say it all! Later!
I saw him open for Def Leppard back when they were doing the Pyromania tour. It was good they had their A game as Gary was still in Rock Mode and on his Victims of the Future tour, just blasting his way through a bunch of songs from it and Corridors of Power. He was the opener with Krokus 2nd on the Headhunter tour and belting out a sublime Screaming in the Night. One of the best triple bills I ever saw. Try Gary Moore and his rocker, Don't Take Me For A Loser, it is a great banger and shows him at his best in the rocking part of his great career. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
U wanna hear a guitar solo that is an extension of his voice, then you really gotta react "separate ways" live with solo intro from Mr. Gary Moores Blues alive concert. It will blow your mind.
I think that, as one goes through one's years, the "holds" from the past accumulate, while the freshness to move ahead or start a new gradually wanes. It's called slowly dying, and it happens to everyone. The reality of this sounds horrific to young people, but it seems natural as one goes into it, and there are hidden blessings within it.
I'd like to recommend "Still in love with you" by Thin lLizzy, Has one of Gary's greatest solo's on the "Live and dangerous" Album. Also Sade covered the song so you know it'll be worth it.
That was GREAT ANALYSIS about the. Guitar being like an extension of his voice! For a Great Example of that, check out the Great Jazz Guitarist George Benson, DINORAH, DINORAH. You’ll Love it!
Woah, this was blazing good! Got me thinking about fantasy bands again, how about Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Prince, David Gilmore and Brian May rattling the entire planet? Bravo Angela, another fabulous pick 😇😊✌️😀
One of the deepest blues ballads of all-time. Gary Moore (RIP) was a monster star in Japan; sadly not that big in the U.S. To all that want more Moore, take a listen to "The Messiah Will Come Again", "Empty Rooms [the 1983 Victims of the Future version]" and "Led Clones [with Ozzy Osborne on vocals]". PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT! Angela, thank you very much for keeping the memory alive for so many of these artist . . . keep on rockin' & reactin'.
Thanks for this request, Graeme. Part of the reason this is my favorite reaction channel is that the folks who also like it make great requests. Much appreciated!
one of my favorites. the entirety of the Still got the Blues album is a masterpiece to me. I still listen to it often. His live cover of Red House is a great rendition. ruclips.net/video/pvu7Y91xUKM/видео.html
His guitar reminds me of Santana's, other words, great. And totally get this song, sometimes there's still someone you wish would've worked out better...... and yup, get it that someone can still have a hold on you...LU Angela
Both he and Santana were influenced by Peter Green, and it shows. Moore released a very good album of tunes that had been cut by Green and Fleetwood Mac, "Blues for Greenie."
When someone like Moore, Clapton, Beck and Santana can take one note and strike it, bend it, sustain it, distortion/dirty it, etc . . . and gain so much emotion from that one note, it's then that you've got a guitar player that's in touch with the blues.
It reminds me of the song by Eric Clapton called " Old Love ". If you react to that , search for the live version where he's dressed all in black . Same show where he performed the amazing LAYLA version .
Another Clapton performance this made me think of is his live Same Old Blues from the Concert for Montserrat, another time when the blues went straight into my soul!
Please consider listening to 'See the Light (Night Music 1988 video)' by Jeff Healey. You can feel the blues coming from the great one that left us way too soon!
great reaction to gary moore from the group thin lizzy i know you like your sax i would love to see ur reactin to average white band a love of your own or jerry raffertey baker street love yor reactions mike from england ❤
Don't know if you share my preference, the 1983 Victim of the Future version is my favorite. Although the 1985 Run for Cover version has great keyboards & a touch of bass with a flanger effect. The 1983 is more pure Moore.
One of the Greatest Blues Singers & Lead Guitarists EVER! A LEGEND! With All due Respect to Thin Lizzy, Gary’ Solo Stuff was Way Better than Lizzy Ever was!
Nice blues but i prefer his rockier side. You really should try him out together with another Irish hero: Phil Lynot in the song "out in the fields", a rock MASTERPIECE!!
The day Gary Moore passed away was the day the world would say goodbye to the greatest guitarist to ever live.R.I.P GARY MOORE
There are guitarists who play every note, and there are guitarists who feel every note.. Gary could play every AND feel every note. Genius musician.
Gary is the Mozart of the 21st century.
A rare...very rare ability to effectively communicate raw emotion through their instrument. Direct...intense...humanity at our core. Truly gifted.
Glenn...never heard of him
Seeing Gary Moore play with Thin Lizzy in NYC was the greatest rock and roll experience I ever had. Man, could he ever play a guitar.

Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher. 2 amazing artist that left us way too soon.
and I, stupidly, missed them both...in London.
This is one of my all-time favorites. You don't just hear it, you FEEL it.
An under-rated guitar player. To me, he's right up there with SRV; David Gilmour and B.B. King.
Absolutely! Such passion.
Left us too soon, like all the greats.
For me he is above all.
@@sebastian2125 I bought my first record in London in 1960 and I would not argue:)

glad you reacted to the long version of this song with that incredible solo at the end. love how Gary's face shows every note he is playing.
When Gary plays the emotions just ooze out of his guitar. Check out his "Story Of The Blues" next.

I saw Gary with Thin Lizzy, in 1977, when they opened for Queen...we also share birthday's. ❤️

Similar to Parisiennne Walkways. There is a great live version of that song, with Gary taking the lead vocals that Phil had in the studio version.
Live @ Montreux for PW and Live In Paris for this.
