Frank Moffett, oh, God, Frank. I'm terribly sorry for that kind of hurt. Nothing soothes, no ones words do much good, flowers wilt or need to be cared for, there's just nothing to even ease that, maybe time. I don' t know, have lost loved ones but not my ol' man. I don't think I'd want to try to make it. You must have had enough of her goodness & love to carry you through. Just know some of us care when someone hurts. I'm sure you wondered why the world didn't come to a grinding halt. It should have out of respect. I'm sorry. Blessings from Robin in Ks.
You have to remember a day when there was no texting, voice mail, and hardly any answering machines. Just the unsatisfying endless ringing with no answer. So painful.
This reminds me of those long calls to my girlfriend and costing me $50 ai had to pay to my parents which back in the 80s was huge as a kid, toll calls weren’t cheap though compared to today it’s peanuts, though. Texting is way cheaper, but wouldn’t trade that for anything, no sexting, no weird shit, can’t remember what we talked about but we could never get enough, better times.
"It's like a rock orchestra, I guess you can say?" _Yes._ Yes, you can. 😀👍That's their trademark. Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood wanted to create rock/pop with an infusion of classical music, and it's a great mix, in my opinion. Yes, their harmonies are fantastic. But ELO is not _always soothing,_ 😉or something you'd listen to at night while sipping tea. They can really rock out, too. After many years of waiting and hoping, I finally saw them in concert a few years ago. Seeing that full ensemble and light show was the _experience_ I'd long heard it was.
I've always considered ELO to be what The Beatles would have provided us in the 1970's if they had stayed together. (Not an exact, perfect analogy, I know, just my sentiment that Jeff Lynne and ELO inherited (co-opted?) The Beatles "sound" and moved it into 70's prog.)
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Along with ELO, The Traveling Wilburys, and work with many other artists, he has a TREMENDOUS catalog of music. Very often underrated.
ELO has a lot of great hits! A lot to choose from, but if asked now, among my favorite tunes by them would be I Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Evil Woman, Turn To Stone, and I can't think of anymore right now! Later!
BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL. blew my mind at 12 yrs old. Waited for my very young daddy to come home from work on the stairs in front of our home in 1974(?) and as many times before I said, "Daddy, your gonna LOVE it". Off we went to buy the record. The whole album was beautiful 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
'"Telephone Line" could have easily become an over-the-top exercise in camp, but is saved by a delicious melody. Futuristic sounding, carefully-layered orchestral pop, with a stunning arrangement that turn the song into a miniature symphony
I see you reacted also to "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr. Hook. Two of the saddest "ghosting' telephone songs of the 1970s! This song is so rich and gorgeous, and I love the little doo-wop portion at the bridge.
Hello Angela: It does seem that the chorus has the cadence and melodic quality of a lullaby....interesting. Never really noticed that before. Thanks for featuring this! 👍👍❤❤
I really enjoyed your reaction to Telephone Line. I grew up listening to ELO and the band was not as popular starting out, but over the years I believe many people have come to appreciate the genius of Jeff Lynne's song writing and the music. The band's songs have certainly stood the test of time and it never gets old listening to them. Their masterpiece album to me is still The Out of the Blue album. You get to hear the full range of their talents in all of the songs on that album.
ELO has always been my favorite group. I've been listening to them since the 70s and I never get tired of them. All their songs are Bangers. My favorite songs are "Mr. Blue Sky" and "Sweet Talking Woman". Love your reaction.
Love the violin in the background! Yes you hit on the points that made this band one of the best! The song being about a man who loves a woman who may not feel the same about him. 😔 Waiting for love to come into his life. Great band!
I remember in the 70's, introducing my hippy friends to ELO, Harry Nilsson, & Procol Harem, when all they would listen to was Elton John, Bob Dylan, & Wishbone Ash. I also love how ELO ingeniously incorporated the telephone dial tone into this song.
I recently saw ELO live in Portland Oregon. I am turning 56 and have been listening to ELO since I was in daycare center. The first song I ever heard was "Strange Magic" and " Telephone line." I love watching these reaction videos 🤗 Watching the reaction of people hearing a group I have been listening to for over forty years!
The part I like the most in watching your reactions is the look on your face as the song hits you and you see the beauty or the point of the song and the expressions you have reveal the pleasantness you feel while you experience what is happening. It tells us watching that you are not only beautiful in appearance but inside as well. Great reaction choice.
My favorite two are Telephone Line and Fire on High. Both songs give me CHILLS every time I hear them. Just saw they're local St. Louis tribute band Mr. Blue Sky. OMG, they sound SO MUCH like the real thing. BIG crowd to, about 2,500 people for a tribute band, tickets were only $20, which is reasonable.
Jeff's still doing it .... Your page came across my feed, and I saw ELO then you, so I had to stop.....lol. You will be surprised how many hit songs they had and you young folks might even recognize some... tons of great music from the 70s. I was a kid, used to carry around my little am radio, before FM.... Yes, I remember when FM came out, then you had stereo sound! and ELO sounded great in stereo. I remember when color TV and microwaves came out, and I'm only 55. Now, look at technology. If you like the 70's music, you might like Chicago; they had many great hits. I'm sure you'll recognize a few of theirs. Good evening from The Great Pacific Northwest! Good luck with your channel 👍
This is music I grew up with! Your reaction to this group is so fresh and pure. I feel it's an echo of my love for this whole era of music. Very nice to see, indeed.
Seriously ELO on Top of the pops was the highlight of the week back in the day of 3 channels on TV to choose from. How things have changed, iam 59yrs old sat watching this reaction on my phone chilling with a coffee.
Thank you so much for this reaction. ELO are fabulous. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. They have so many brilliant songs but I particularly hope you’ll get round to reacting to The Diary of Horace Wimp. It’s right up your street and I can picture you following the lyrics as a story.
Birmingham, England's most World Famous soft rock band. I grew up on them, being a natural stepping stone off the Beatles. They Are the original Brum Beat Band. The Melodies are perfect, dateless, unforgettable.
I see you have viewed a few ELO songs you might try Shangri-La next. I think it’s one of their most lush compositions feels like you’re listening to velvet to me. Keep up the good work.
My oldest son broke me out of hospital twice to see ELO, once to see them in Hyde Park in 2014 and also to sit in a muddy field at Glastonbury in 2016. It was two different hospitals for two different injurie's at the end of my service career. It was always great to see Jeff Lynne's ELO live, even if it meant having to face my wife's anger afterwards. This song reminds me of how much I loved talking to my family when I was posted over seas.
Wow I remember this song as a little kid back in the 70s, when I went roller skating and this would come on and it was always a couple skate. So much time has passed by such great memories back then 🤔
Hi Angela Jeff Lynne is/has been criminally under-rated in the world of popular music IMHO He is one of Britains greatest songwriters, singers & composers please if you get the chance check out E.L.O Wembley or Bust 2017 concert, Amazing atmosphere & sounded as good as ever ATB Jim, Surrey, UK X
You can hear the Beatles in this, as with many ELO songs. On the lyrics "Telephone line, give me some time" or whatever...the same melodic scale idea used in the Beatles' "Hello Goodbye" in the background vocals "Hello Goodbye" repeated up the major scale. Only ELO's song is just slower, different topic. Except they are on the telephone line and you could sing the "lyrics "Hello Goodbye" which would make sense of you're on the telephone lol
Angela, the sounds made by the synthesizer before the phone ringing sound, was an imitation of DTMF (dual tone multiple frequency) signaling tones on landline phones to initiate a call.
ELO (ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA) had a very unique sound and style. They have more "upbeat" songs also. But they are different and wonderful in their own right! I have always loved ELO. Thanks for sharing, Angela. If you get a chance check out "EVIL WOMAN" by them also.
Sweet Talkin' Woman, Livin' Thing, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Don't Bring Me Down, etc. All classic ELO, a band with a slew of Top 40 hits in the late 1970's and early '80's.
I played this song after my wife’s funeral. Was lost when she passed. I called her cell phone just to hear her voice one last time.
That's a very moving testimony. I'm sorry for your loss.
Condolences what a lovely tribute
Frank Moffett, oh, God, Frank. I'm terribly sorry for that kind of hurt. So sorry for your loss, Frank.
You have wonderful memories to remember with your wife. I pray God strengthens you and comforts you ever day.
You have to remember a day when there was no texting, voice mail, and hardly any answering machines. Just the unsatisfying endless ringing with no answer. So painful.
I remember,,,😥😥😥👍

Listening to ELO is like floating through outer space.

I love ELO. Jeff Lynne is a genius IMO. He was great friends with the Beatles and influenced by them.

@@johnmrog I think you may have something here.
@@graciesmom1477 Thanks gracie'smom! Sincerely, from rhys'sdad! :)
@@johnmrog Apparently John Lennon was quoted as saying ELO were the "next Beatles"
You think ...LOL :)........The Beatles loved these guys.
This song is about being ghosted, 1970's style, lol
Yes it is 💔
Wow,you’re right!! Just picked up on that!!
I'm old enough to remember what a telephone line is! 😁
One of my favorite songs from ELO. They are amazing.
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Along with ELO, The Traveling Wilburys, and work with many other artists, he has a TREMENDOUS catalog of music. Very often underrated.
And also Jeff's earlier band, The Move, is a terrific band.
He has more talent in his pinkie finger than all the artists if today.
@@MooLaa-e1s I wouldn't say that, but yeah, loaded with talent.
Jeff Lynne and Kelly voices sound beautiful together.
ELO has a lot of great hits! A lot to choose from, but if asked now, among my favorite tunes by them would be I Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Evil Woman, Turn To Stone, and I can't think of anymore right now! Later!
Excellent list, all I would add is Mr Blue Sky.
Tightrope one of the best songs they have ever done all about mental health (depression) 👍🏻🙌🏻👊🏻
BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL.

Now follow up this reaction with the live version, some 45-ish years later at Wembley Stadium. It's CRAZY good!
Wembley concert is great 👍🏼
One of the first ELO songs I ever heard. I had all their records back in the day.
First one I heard, too -- and I also have a few vinyls... guess that makes us old? (well, at least I am... lol)
I loooove E.L.O. Jeff Lynne has a great voice !!!!!
An absolute sublime song
ELO is unmatched.
ELO !!! what a magnificent band with so many great songs and Jeff Lynne still playing with his band from the 70's , my favorite band !!!
'"Telephone Line" could have easily become an over-the-top exercise in camp, but is saved by a delicious melody.
Futuristic sounding, carefully-layered orchestral pop, with a stunning arrangement that turn the song into a miniature symphony
Makes me Cry...I need a Time machine!!!
Thank You Angela for this Reaction
My absolute favorite song from ELO.. the 70s was such a great and special era of music... so missed!
'Livin Thing' and 'Mr Blue Sky' are classics of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) and they are still performing now and STILL sound as good.
I'm a massive elo fan but I'm sick of the two songs you mention because they've been played to death
Your are a doll, love your reactions, love your channel. Keep up your good work. ELO great band.

Such a distinctive sound with fabulous vocal harmonies.
I found your comments and feelings on point, have always felt that way about ELO myself. Great reaction, TY.
Haven't heard this great song in ages. 👍
Electric Lights Orchestra was truly amazing! They're still doing phenomenal pyrotechnic concerts in stadiums!
It will it will float the boat for cheap

This song came off the 1976 album New World Record but was released as a single in 1977
"Can't Get It Out of My Head" is by far my fav of all their great songs.
That sound that you mentioned was a analogue synthesizer keyboard
Heard this on the radio on Thursday and on the stereo on Saturday
ELO, was my favorite band in the 80's!

Just seeing their long, crazy hair makes me miss the '70s. Jeff Lynne knows how to bring it. His vocals are pure emotional angst.
It's a tie between this and Mr. Blue Sky for my favorite song from ELO.
Me too!

A great song rediscovered. Thanks.
I saw ELO live a few years ago, great show !
Beautiful 💞 song stay safe friend God bless
ELO was a classic 80's band! Had all their albums.
I've always been a fan of ELO and, even though it wasn't recorded in the 1970's, recommend their 2001 Zoom Tour concert.
Yes, And you and I... I highly recommend especially when the play with the Philharmonic.
It was fun to near thIs again, and I enjoyed your reaction. Thank you!
Their live show: "Live in Hyde Park" is outstanding.
Another one of the greatest songs ever recorded! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
One of the first 2 songs that I heard from ELO in the 70s.....the other being "Sweet Talking Woman".
great reaction...ELO is exceptional
ELO has a huge catalogue of hits, you should check out "Evil Woman" when you get a chance.
Man I looove that intro of yours. That whistle. Nice.
Some songs take you to church. Others take you home! Thank you for a lovely reaction!
Great artists! Love them! Great reaction
This song is so sad... it captures the desperation to reach someone you haven't seen or who hasn't spoken (or won't speak) to you in a long time.
Master craftsman - Beatles, Travelling Wilburys and ELO....all orchestrated byu Jeff....
I enjoy watching your reaction videos. 😁
Love ELO! Love Angela moreso 😅
You gotta listen to Mr. Blue Sky by these guys!
Angela is such a pretty girl.
ELO one of the best bands ever with a unique sound ❤️
