There needs to be stricter guidelines for parents and child protection services need to do a better job for these children. I think both parents were pretty dense they didn’t recognize their son had a limp arm could mean he had a stroke, changes in pupils could mean brain problems, concussions or strokes, standing up stiff could be from pain or a seizure, how stupid were they his injuries were over his lifespan most likely after his mom went to work. Swollen fontanelle, split and bleeding frenium, multiple “oopsie” bruises, always up one side and down the other, to Jason’s head (and only when being held by his massive father), a “gimpy” arm weeks after birth, stiffening and seizing. There’s no way either can be that oblivious with only one child, that only the two of them care for 99% of the time. 16 years was too short for Molly but life would have been too short for Alex, yet she served 14 and the more culpable abuser only served five?!?

I'm so grateful my son survived. I cannot COMPREHEND being THIS EVIL to a child. No child deserves what happened to baby Jason. He will forever be an angel. @@hvm5210As somebody who went into the system at 16, I can attest to the validity of this. I met so, SO many girls who had been in the system since infancy, and ended up aging out with no love or supports. A few even found out their "loving foster family" (often a family they had been with for 5-10 years and viewed as real family) only viewed them as a cash cow for the increase in "compensation" for their issues toward the end. It's so sick and wrong. It is *VERY* unlikely to be adopted out of the system as a baby with so many other babies in need of homes, and every year you sit in the system with more and more psychological issues beginning to fester and grow, the less your chance of adoption becomes. It's absolutely effing tragic.
Everybody wants "blank, clean slate baby" but there aren't nearly enough people willing to adopt to account for all those babies, and after the age of 4-5, your chances of being adopted are slim to none, because nobody wants a "broken, traumatized kid". It's just so effing sad that it keeps me up at night.
And all but one of those girls I met, who I still keep in contact with at 30, have gone on to either p3rpetuate the cycle (losing their kids due to drug/abuse issues early on) or have ended up in jail- same as the parents who lost them.
      Heartbreaking.
The one success story I know grew up to become an absolutely incredible hairdresser, with a child of her own that she loves more than life itself- but she is seriously rare outlier compared to the DOZENS I met who ended up perpetuating the cycle of abuse and neglect... because abuse and neglect is all they ever knew. How can you really blame them for it?
What do you even do as a society to fix this? I'm at a loss.

So you think instead of finding someone who’s love to have a baby, killing it is the better option? And our whole foster system needs shit down and rebuilt. It’s awful.
